    No, it won't.

Hey I have another question for you!!

My husband's sister who is a Canadian citizen  applied for them (family based), so the parents-in-law are visiting her. What kind of visa will they need if they want to visit USA, being that they are a tourist in Canada themselves.. Thank you!!

It has nothing to do with you; it is all about them and their circumstances.

They need to prove they have the financial means to travel to the US and stay for whatever amount of time and they need to demonstrate they have strong ties to their home country.

    Where are they from?

Hey,, In case they don't get approved for the visitor visa. My husband will apply for them when eligible (when he becomes a US citizen).  He has his green card for 5 months now. Will the denial of their visitor visa effect them getting approved for I-130?

    Thank you!

  3. I will be graduating with my Masters this May and I wanted to invite my parents in law for the graduation ceremony. My husband just joined me last year in the US so he doesn't have much income to show.. What are the chances that their tourist visa will be approved since they are not immediately related to me?

    Some questions I have-

    1. Do I need to send 2 invitation letters separately or one letter with both their names is fine?

    2. Do I need to get my graduation verification letter from the college notarized?

    3. Do I need to get the invitation letter notarized?

    4. Better chances if I write in the invitation letter that I will be paying for all of their expenses or if they are paying for it?  I have a pretty good income. So, providing a job letter isn’t a problem.

As always, thank you VJ fam!

  4. I will finally reunite with my husband after a week.  How long does Social Security card and green card take to arrive? Also, how soon before he can work, does he need a work permit? When can I put his name under my insurance? When can he open a bank account/credit card? When to apply for ID card? So many questions..... Thank you VJ family for always having answers 😀

    Greetings!

    Just my opinion.

Did you mean that all documents were sent to NVC, accepted, reviewed, approved and completed? Meaning that he is documentarily qualified and that he is ready for interview?

Since he lost his translated birth certificate, was he asked to submit a new through CEAC? or to bring it during his interview?

Most of the time you just have to bring that new translated birth certificate during the interview, and if the Consul will ask you to download or change anything, they will open it for you and have to change or upload it, as those are final unless it was instructed, just make sure that the translated one is the same as the one that you submitted earlier to NVC. Best of luck, NG

Hello. thank you for the reply. Yes, he ready for the interview.

No, they didn't say to upload anything. In the interview checklist, it says to email the consular of that country if you need to update or change anything and they will open the form and that to bring the originals to the interview. Since he can't seem to find the notarized BC from 2020 that we uploaded in NVC, he got one notarized on 5/17. He was able to download the old copy of BC from NVC. They are the same, just the notarized dates are different. Should he take the old copy and the new notarized BC to the interview? Also, since the petition was approved in Jan 2022, he should bring recent 2021 tax transcripts/W2 , I-864/updated job letter to the interview? We are getting nervous as the interview date is approaching. Thank you once again!!

** I guess the correct term was the notarized date**

  6. My spouse cannot find the translated Birth Certificate that he uploaded in CEAC. His interview is in less than 3 weeks. He did make a new translated birth certificate. It says to email the consular for that country to open up the form. Does this mean he will have to resubmit the new birth certificate in CEAC ? If it is, will it take a while to review the case or somebody from the embassy will review it? He was thinking of taking the new one to the interview without submitting it, he does have a copy of the old BC. We also noted that one of the numbers is missing in his address that was submitted after reviewing the application thoroughly. Since there are 2 problems, should we email to the consular and resubmit or take a chance without fixing these issues? Helpp!

  7. 1.My spouse has an interview 3 weeks from now. I submitted 2018, 2019, and 2020 tax returns and all the docs in the NVC website in Jan 2022 and all the docs were approved hence it was sent to the Embassy. However, will I need to upload recent 2021 tax return/return transcripts/W2 to NVC again?  I emailed my 2021 tax docs to my spouse, so can he just print and take those to the interview in case they ask for it?

2.I also sent an updated I-864 signed (will electronic signature work or does it have to be signed in ink)?

3.Lastly, how long is the employer letter valid until? Mine was signed in Jan 2022 by my employer. Will I need updated letter as well?

Since, the petition was approved based on old records, I was wondering if I need to submit new finances/tax records/job letter? Or they wont bother with the new ones?

    Thank you!!!🙂

  9. Hello everyone,

I am a US citizen and got married this year in my home country, my spouse is still there and I haven't filed for anything yet.  I did not inform my workplace of my marriage yet. My question is do I have to change the status in my W2 form saying I am married now, because I will have to submit financial documents when I file for I-130 and other forms. Or it doesn't matter? Thanks!

Yes Arranged...same ...we just stay in the city and I just sent my immigration in and out stamp out of delhi and I visited my wife twice in few months after our marriage...oh by the way I did everything myself...just do your homework on I130 and I130 A...and make sure your spouse hand sign with black ink on I130 A...even the instructions says if your spouse is not in US ...leave that part...I have seen so my REFs so that part and delayed even further...

If my spouse is out of USA, does he still need to fill I-130A by himself? Can i fill it out instead- I think i can leave the signature part blank? Thanks

You can apply now.  The problem is that you will have a hard time proving a bona fide relationship with a short courtship and marrying on the first visit.  Make sure that you have evidence of a bona fide relationship when you file the I-130.  Don't file with just the marriage certificate as your proof.  READ UP ABOUT FRONTLOADING.

You are married.  Everywhere in the world.  After all, marriage is what you would base your I-130 on to petition for your husband.

Changing your tax withholding is up to you.  You will have to decide to file married filing separately or married filing jointly with your husband.  There is no simple answer because every couple's tax situation is different.

Thanks for the info. What’s frontloading btw?

Lawyers are of no help especially if you or your husband do not have a criminal history or an overstay in the USA which may need a waiver. My wife and I did our whole package from scratch, she was suggesting we use a lawyer and the lawyer was asking $4000 just to arrange documents. I refused and we did everything ourselves. Priority date may 29 2018 we were approved on nov 27 2018 and interview march 25 2019, visa already in hand atm. So like someone mentioned to you above, just file now and include pics, chats, copies of civil docs. I have known my spouse for years but prior to filing we had just 2 visits and we were fine with approvals. As long as your husband has no criminal history you can go ahead and file, uscis is aware about arranged marriages especially in India and MENA countries and you won't be asked on the form i130 to describe how you met, unlike for form i129f. Such questions on how you met will pop up at your husband's interview 10-14 months from now, by then you must have accumulated more facetime and enough chats and evidences of a bonafide marriage. Goodluck.

What is the I-29F? I tried searching for it, but couldn’t find it. Thanks

I got married in dec 2017 and once I had my marriage certificate and few docs to prove it’s legit ...I applied in late April 2018 and got approved without any REF last month...the reason it took long was it was routed to Hellbraska...my wife is also from INDIA...so with the recent delay in getting approvals and tough time for getting any thing get through the immigration..I would suggest file now with docs u get from court and family affidavit and some chats and logs and flight details and pics and you should be good...AOS aka I-864 is for your later stage...Changing your last name to your husband name is also some beneficial...so file and ride the tide...sooner or later you will get through...best of luck ...for your immigration journey...

Did you have an arranged marriage also? Did you file it yourself or with a lawyer’s help? Flight details?- just mine when I went there? We didn’t go any where together, we stayed in the country. Thanks

  14. Hello everyone.

I recently got married (arranged) in my home country in India. I went there in February and got married in March in the courthouse (went there for holidays but through family I met him). I am 31 years old and he is 25 years old. I thought he was a little too young but it seems like age is just a number. He is pretty mature. Neither of us are previously married. I am back in the US and am a citizen. My question is when do I file for the I-130? Do I have to submit all the paperwork- affidavit of support (I-864) , chat/phone logs etc for the I-130 or is it at a later stage? I am worried that I don't have much communication with him since the relationship is very new, and that I married a stranger in a month. Also we only chat / call like once a day. I also have few pictures. I am not worried about the affidavit of support because I have a pretty good job here. What other proof do I need to prove it’s a bonafide marriage? I was thinking of putting his name on my beneficiary’s list (retirement). Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
