    Hello,

I am new here and hope I’ve come to the right forum. I got married two and a half years ago while on a visitor visa. We submitted the necessary applications, and I have since received my EAD, Social Security number, ID, and Advance Parole. We live together, and my spouse is the petitioner (she is older than I am). Everything was going well; we share the same culture, religion, and language. She advised me to sell my condo, car, and other possessions back home to start our life together here.

Suddenly, around Valentine's Day this year, her behavior changed drastically. She began to express hatred towards me, demanding I find a job after having previously told me not to work for almost a year. I had bought her a custom gold necklace for Valentine's Day, which she did not appreciate. Since then, she has called me derogatory names, sent me texts wishing I would die in my sleep, threatened to lock me out of the house, and even said she would harm me if I tried to enter.

Despite my efforts to make the relationship work, the situation escalated. Her siblings witnessed her verbally and physically abuse me, including threatening me with a knife. My priority was to calm her down and find a safe place to stay. Thankfully, her siblings offered me temporary shelter and advised against calling the police, assuring me she wouldn't act on her threats.

I am now experiencing trauma and PTSD, similar to what I witnessed in my parents' relationship. I have scheduled an appointment with a doctor for support. Our interview is approaching, but I don’t feel comfortable lying about our situation. Although our marriage was bona fide and I have ample evidence to prove it (bank statements, credit card records, insurance, utilities, photos, etc.), I am scared to be around her.

I am planning to hire an attorney this week and need to find a therapist who speaks my language. Do you think I have a case? Additionally, can I keep my EAD card since it has not expired? Without it, I won't be able to afford my own place due to the high cost of rent.

Thank you for any advice you can offer.

You do have a strong vawa case. if your wife has cancelled your i485 petition, you wont't able to work on the current EAD

Hello VJF Family, I got my LPR through vawa and aware of the 2 months 9 years to file for citizenship. I did last 2 months and this is the response I received after getting a biometric reuse mail. Pls advise on what to do or how to expedite my application as I was not expecting this.

    Thank you

That's a normal response. It takes 4 to 6 months sometimes more to get interview notice.

Got the scheduled interview notice online today! Waiting for the mail notice now to get the date.

My field office is Denver, CO.

    I sent my N-400 on 1/17/2024.

My biometrics were reused the same day.

I applied under the 3-year rule (anniversary on 8/31/2023).

The interview date should be written on the online notice as well

Similar to other recent comments - took an oath on Friday, May 17th. Volunteers were waiting outside the courtroom to help submit forms for voter registration so I did that. Then the next day applied for a passport and said goodbye to the naturalization certificate. Fingers crossed that it doesn't get lost along the way!

Which field office? I applied the passport the same day 😄😄

Hey family I have a question!

when my spouse called the ice and fbi in me ! They raid my house with guns and snipers as well

is that a good evidence to send to my rfe

I have the fbi card and an Emile from them and a text and I’ll write a statement how it’s happen and when ?

tough question to respond. In texas if you have license carrying guns, you are fine. If he had license, i don't think it will use as an evidence. but not an expert here

How much does it cost and how long does it take to get the Eva ?

Cuse I have 2 months to respond to my rfe

your therapist should give you a psychological evaluation. you can refer to others

Hey folks, just a heads up for those that use USPS Informed Delivery: when you get around to applying for your U.S. passport, and they mail your naturalization certificate back, it might not show up on your Informed Delivery as it may get delivered in a large envelope. They didn't tri-fold my certificate, as they might other documentation (i.e. my child's U.S. birth certificate did show up on Informed Delivery, as that one was tri-folded and placed in a standard envelope).

I just wanted to let y'all know here because I know I was a bit anxious waiting for my naturalization certificate to come back and was watching Informed Delivery like a hawk. Didn't want to pay another fee to USCIS to get it replaced, lol!

wait. you need to submit your original certificate for passport?

Congratulations on your success. I have a question that during the interview has the officer asked you about the status of your ex abuser since you mentioned in your last post that you don’t have any proof about his citizenship status.

Moreover has The officer asked you about the passport to show in the interview. The reason to this question is that my passport is expired, but all the other documents are valid and current.

IO did look at my passport as well but it is valid. I am not sure if they consider expired passports as well but make sure to bring that with you.
The officer did ask my my ex wife immigration status but no proof were requested

I had my interview today in the Baltimore office. It was virtual and everyone I came into contact with were so lovely!

However, I did not get approved on the spot. I had checked on my N400 form that I had been arrested on 2 occasions but the charges were dropped and automatically expunged. I had ZERO documents to back up the expungement so she said she could not approve. I cried the rest of the interview. She said she would drag her feet and issue an RFI so I had ample time to get the expungement records I needed.

the interview questions she asked were:

    1. During the Cold War, what was the main concern of the U.S.?

    2. What are the 2 major political parties?

    3. What is the political party of the current president?

    4. What is the capital of your state?

     I forget the other 2.

I had to read “what do you pay to the government?” And had to write on a tablet “we pay taxes.”

The officer was so lovely. She gave me a pep talk about endurance. Made it clear she wanted to approve me but just needed those documents. I got my paper saying no decision could be made and was sent on my way.

I spent the next 4 hours driving to the courthouse and calling our central repository and uploaded the documents before I even got the RFI.

WHILE WRITING THIS POST, I got a call from the officer telling me I was approved and I didn’t even need the documents!!!!! God is so good!!

she said I will get a letter in the mail with my oath ceremony details.

Praise be to God - through Him all things are possible!

wishing everyone the utmost success in their journey going forward.

    Congratulations :)
