so I went to our local Social Security Admin office to request a social card for my fiancee. I brought her passport, birth certificate and I-94 print out. The not so helpful lady then states that I filled out my fiancees form wrong with the name order...turns out that immigration input my (now wife) middle name as first, and her first name as her middle name.  The Vietnam passport shows Family name, middle name, first name in that order. I clearly put down on the I-129F application what her names are as it asks for the Family name, First and Middle. So essentially the lady said nothing she can do that she has to follow what Immigration put into the system and I have to deal with it at Green Card stage. She said her social secuirty would be sent out in about 4 weeks because I guess another system hasn't been verified yet or something and her POE was 02/21/19

So I am wondering if anyone has experienced the same issue for their Vietnamese fiancee/wife with the name order discrepancy. What is teh best fix for this. They are sending her the ss card with the incorrect order. I almost feel why have even bothered with getting it in the first place and just get it at green card stage anyhow. Any advice or insight would be excellent!

    Thank you!

My husband had the same issue. Somewhere down the line someone messed up somewhere and switched his middle & first name. We honestly didn’t waste anytime with it and kept it how it was . Too much trouble to go & redo a bunch of paperwork that was going to take a significant amount of time & possibly money.

It depends on when your marriage was considered legal in the country it took place.......In some countries, the marriage is considered as legal on the date it was performed......in other countries (Taiwan is one), the marriage date is officially the day the marriage is registered at the local Household Registration office.

My wife and performed our marriage "ceremony" by signing a marriage agreement on Jul 26th.......but registered it on July 30th.  Our official date of marriage is Jul 30th......as we were married in Taiwan.

Do you know where I could find this information? We got married in Vietnam

  3. i am handling the form I-751 myself and when I was looking at my marriage certificate my marriage date is different from the registered date that’s listed on the certificate? I got married on July 31, 2016 but on my marriage certificate it states that I registered on August 10, 2016? What should I put as my date of marriage on the I-751 form?

Don't worry about what you DON'T have at this point.  I would concentrate on what I DO have.......A letter from your bank stating "she is not eligible......." would not accomplish anything, in my opinion........others might disagree.

This seems strange to me......I see no reason you can't open a new joint account somewhere else if you want to.....

We’ve tried. The person who stole her identity basically cashed fraud checks and it affected her credit. So when you open a checking account they run your social security number . We have disputed and legally working with credit repair experts to clear her name.

  5. I know it’s important to show commingling of financials but the only thing that my wife and I don’t have together is a joint banking account. We have joint credit cards & taxes BUT my wife had her identity stolen and used to open bank accounts so now she’s basically blacklisted to be on my account . We have been working through the process to get her name cleared so she can be on my checking account but it’s taking longer than expected. What can I do ? Should I get a letter from my bank saying my wife is not eligible to be on a checking account? We’ve tried with a few different banks to open a joint account but none within open in her name until things are cleared with her identity.

  6. The only thing we don’t have is a joint checking account.

    We have life insurance together

    we have a will

    we have tax returns

    we have car insurance

    we have medical

we actually have a lot . So it’s not that I am not “trying hard” enough to gather my stuff. I am looking for advice and recommendations from people who have been through the process and then taking notes of what I have and don’t have. So the assumption that I’m not trying hard is really not the case. Why would I not try hard to get my husband off his conditioned green card so that he is here to be with his 2 kids. But thank you for your advice.

  7. Hi everyone!

I am starting to put together my husbands I-751 removal of conditions to obtain his 10 year greencard.

One of the issues I’m running into is showing proof that we reside at the same residence.

We currently live with my mother so lease is under her name.

What are some expamples of evidences I could provide to show that my husband and I live together?

Also my husband and I don’t share bank accounts I don’t currently have a bank account but I am an authorized user on his credit cards. What are other examples of comingling of finances that I could provide ?

    Thank you!!
