We knew of each other for a few years before ever meeting. I have been friends of Sujana's brother and sister-in-law for quite a few years. Sujana and I finally met in India in February 2018. We spent a week together just as friends, but we really hit it off. After a few months of our first meeting, I indicated my interest in Sujana to her brother, who then communicated that to her parents, and finally the message reached her. (This was the cultural appropriate way of communicating). After some months of communicating back and forth and a couple ups and downs, we met again in February 2019. This time, we were meeting for the first time in-person to discuss the subject of marriage. After a couple hours of conversation, the two of us were both on the same page in our desire to get married. A few days later (February 4th), I met with her family to formally ask permission to marry. They accepted and since then we've been planning for marriage and immigration!
