    Hey Everyone,

(especially those who got married and divorced in a previous life...)

USCIS got back to us today. They are requesting for an additional evidence :

"you submitted a foreign language document that appears to be a termination of marriage for (MeAlix). Submit a complete and accurate English translation and a photocopy of the corresponding foreign language document (...)". The thing is, we did send the original of the jugement of divorce in French + a certified stamped translation in English.

It seems that the problem is the stamp of the certified translator which is in French (3 words basically). Has anyone encounter that problem too?

    Thank you for your help.

    Alix

No solutions, but glad you heard something! My filing date is very close

to yours, so hoping I too get some feedback this week. Hope everything gets figured out.

  2. Hi Visa Journeyers,

I filed my I-130 in April 2019 and it was sent to the Texas Service Center. In September, I tried to expedite and was denied 🙅 Now I’m stuck in limbo, since I’m not sure whether my denied expedite means my case moves to the back of the line or whether I can expect my approval in the same timeframe as if I never tried to expedite. I want to hear from folks who are in the same boat re: denied expedite cases but have since gotten the approval! How long after your denied expedite did you

    get an NOA2? Thank you!

Hey, I’ve heard some people say they’ve received some docs back. I didn’t but it appears to be normal. Also, I only see one random document uploaded (my passport page). This is also normal not to see all the docs.

Congrats on starting your process and good luck to you both! Be sure to pack your patience :)

Hi, can you educate me on where you saw your documents uploaded? I thought this only happened at the NVC stage. Did your case number start with IOE?

Hello! Sierra Leone CR1/IR1 spouse filer here. PD: 11/1/18 -Texas service center, we were recently approved on 7/15. I see you live in VA as well.

Oh wow! Nice to “meet” you :) And congratulations on your long-awaited approval! I honestly thought we as recent Salone filers didn’t exist on this site. So glad to finally have some camaraderie! I am in the HR Peninsula region of VA, how about yourself? I have a million questions for you about this process from your experience.

I tried to expedite but I was denied. Our evidence wasn’t out of the ordinary but I thought it was solid. Frequent trips (every 2-3 weeks), I made my husband beneficiary to my life ins policy, authorized user to my credit card and included photos of when we were dating, with our families and our wedding. He  was in the US for 13 years as a student and then on a work visa but I did not include that in the application and I don’t know if that really helped. I’ve read similar cases where the spouse had prior US visas and their cases werent approved any faster.

Oh wow, that was pretty solid evidence. Well done!

  6. I’m having the hardest time finding fellow 2018-2019 CR1/IR1 filers for spouses in Sierra Leone. I’m pretty new and can’t filter through the discussions that well to find the Africa sub-forum, so throwing out the feelers with this post. Some consulates like Ghana get a lot of talk for being strict, what about Salone? Curious to hear experiences, turnaround times, and everything relevant. 🌍

Texas service center filers (like me) for Salone spouses are especially hard to find. Where are my people?! :)

    Thanks for the feedback.

I've also tried calling but i never get thru a live person.

I will discuss with him about filing an I-129F and see if he wants to go that route.

Thanks sooo much for your input.

You’re welcome! One last thing about the call center; I got through last night after I pressed options as if I lost my case number. They connected me with someone after about 40 minutes of hold time and then just asked me my case number again, which I had.

Best of of luck with everything!

Oh that link you gave me for the e-mail if where I send my inquiries to which they told me that I need to wait 30 days to get a response.  I have already contacted my congress and said to contact them if I dont have a response from them by the middle of August (SMH) and I have also created an account with USCIS.  Believe me.. I've done anything and everything that you can think of that is why now I want to see if I can send additional evidence to them so see if that will get the case moving forward.

Ahh I see. Perhaps you should inquire the call center if that’s an option, because I’ve only seen evidence sent/considered when there is a request for it (RFE). Have you considered filing an I129F for a K3 visa for your spouse? You may have a slight chance of getting that one faster or just getting your case looked at again.

I filed my first inquiry at the end of may and said i would get a response in 30 days.  The 30 days came by and nothing.  So I filed another inquiry since I couldn't get thru a live person when i called. And again they told me the same thing, that I will get a response in 30 more days.  I then asked how many inquiries do I have to make to finally get a response from someone.  Was told that I would have to file 3 and wait their 30 days until they can finally get a hold of someone and get an answers for me.

When you say an electronic follow up?  Where exactly can I do that?

Oh no, I think someone is not giving you the appropriate information. So if you make a USCIS account, you can send an email there through the system. Also try this inquiry form if you haven’t already: https://egov.uscis.gov/e-Request/Intro.do.

In your case, I think it wouldn’t hurt to reach out to your congressperson and see if they can advocate for you. I’ve seen some folks go that route.

Also try signing up for one of these accounts for case status, may help: https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do

I would keep calling and following up maybe once every week though because it sounds very strange from what I’ve seen most people’s experiences with the I130.

Best of of luck to you with your application!

  10. Have you tried contacting the USCIS to inquire on status? From what I’ve witnessed on strands in this group, Potomac timelines are supposed to be very quick. Being that you’re coming up on 1 year, I think you’re well within the timeline to be able to follow up. There’s also an option to make an electronic follow up which may be easier. Hold times for the call center are quite long. I don’t think you can send more info unless you receive a request for evidence.
