We've had 4 touches in a row recently just after our case was transferred to CSC. Hopefully that's a good sign

Seriously, are there ANY states where you can get married WITHOUT a marriage license?
Here in Utah you actually can. It's called a common law marriage which is when a man and a woman never had a formal ceremony. If all conditions are met (mostly those of married couples) these couples can file for common law marriage to be assisted in certain matters (custody, etc). They are valid marriages and recognized here in Utah at least.

I wonder why they would then send out RFEs if you don't include a copy of the approved I-129F petition. They could simply look for that in their own database...
-
I can only speak from visa waiver countries. There it's generally no problem at all to visit the USC while the K1 is in progress. I read that some even told the immigration officer that they're waiting for a K1 visa, and there's no problems. Then again, we don't have to apply for a visa... But there's always the possibility for the USC to travel

We've been unable to obtain NOA2 from USCIS. We called multiple times and were promised multiple times that they'd send it to us again. Well, nothing has arrives so far. Can we include other proof (such as the NVC letter) as a replacement, or is NOA2 mandatory? We don't know what to do
-
It was definitely not misspelled on the petition and also not on the affidavit forms. I don't know the other forms because unfortunately I don't have the copies anymore, but I doubt I misspelled it because I checked them like 5 times before I sent them. It looks like it's only a typo on the visa sticker.
-
I received my passport with the visa sticker in the mail today, and I noticed that there's a typo in my fiancee's (the petitioner's) last name. I didn't notice it at first...
I emailed the consulate and asked what I should do. What do you think? Will I have to send it in to get it corrected, or is it not that big of a deal?
-
Oh, ok I didn't know that they also take alternatives. We'll just keep annoying them in hopes they send it and if not then we're going to submit other proof. We won't contact her Senator. Thanks for your advice
-
well, on the instructions it says a copy of that NOA2. I mean it's stupid because it's USCIS, they should know themselves whether the petition was approved or not. We could send a copy of the letter of NVC, but I don't think that's sufficient. We're not going to have another choice but bug them and hope they actually send something, I guess

We had our online NOA2 on May 29, 2007. Since then my fiancee has called three times and they told her three times that they would send it again. It still hasn't received? She received the NOA1 and also the NVC letter, just NOA2 is missing. I already had my interview last week and will be flying in 4 weeks, and in 6 weeks we're going to get married and we want to file for AOS ASAP. USCIS is just a bunch of morons... Should we contact her senator to get some help? What do you suggest?

Annie+Mike, I'm all for humanity. But when traveling to another country you're always subject to local laws. What may be legal at home may get you into prison, or even worse on other areas of this world. You're from a civilized and rich country, I'm sure you have immigration laws, too. You don't have to be scared in Ireland, you won't have to starve. I have some sympathy with refugees who literally run for their lives, who don't have another option. But honestly, you should have known that you can't just stay in another country indefinitely, the rich countries on this planet need to protect themselves from being flood by millions of people. And I don't think that love is an excuse anywhere. I would've reacted differently had you been married already. My fiancee and I got to learn the laws of both of our countries to see what our options are, because we also didn't want to jeopardize our future and then later have to tell ourselves that we were just plain stupid, that we should've done some research. But seriously, if you're banned and you can't overturn the ban then that's not the end of the world. Why not live in Ireland with your future husband for a while. But don't be as stupid (sorry, I have to use this word) as you were in the US and forget to research your options in Ireland, what the immigration laws regulate there.
-
No offense, if you break the laws then you have to live with the consequences. You're lucky that you have the possibility to use a waiver, but generally speaking this is what everybody deserves for staying illegally.
-
Your overstay began on 5 Feb 2003. Since you left the country on 3 Feb 2004, that's exactly 363 days of overstay -> 10 years ban

Thanks to everyone here giving advice and providing so much support!
Today I survived the Consulate General in Frankfurt, Germany! I wasn't asked for any further evidence of our relationship, although I brought a bunch of evidence with me. Getting inside of the building was very simple and was only a matter of maybe three minutes (waiting until some people left the building again). I was allowed to skip the long line in front of the building and got directly inside, because there were no other immigrants waiting. VERY friendly and helpful staff!!!. The "interview" only took a few minutes and was mostly just the finger printing and signing the form, and in between the Consul was only interested in how we met, and since I'm still a student in university he wondered how or if I plan to finish my degree. Just chit-chat, really. Everybody was really friendly.

We're also still waiting.... We were approved end of May... My fiancee called last week and they said that they would send it again, hope it arrives this week. It apparently happens all the time, USCIS doesn't seem to be a very professional place

As long as it's not a criminal, terrorist or extremist organization....

Pack 3 and 4 don't need to be signed, they are just sent as normal letters without any extra services (at least here in Germany)
-
Only 355 K's for Germany, makes ~ 0.72% Wow and we used to be the biggest minority
-
I have my interview scheduled for 7/19/2007, so still some time to prepare for it. I also need to schedule my medical, I think I'm going to schedule it about two weeks before the interview.
-
PS Were in Germany are you?
Northern Bavaria. It's going to be a 3 to 4 hours drive depending on the traffic. But at least my interview is scheduled for 10 am, so that's not too early
-
Thanks everybody! Now I have to think about when to do the medical
Probably a week in advance.
-
I received Packet 4 today, wow this was fast. On the forms I wrote that I plan to fly on 18 August 2007, but on my letter that I faxed them together with the checklist I asked them to schedule it before or on 19 July 2007, if possible. They respected my wish and scheduled my interview for 19 July 2007
Thanks to everyone here, this is a great community and it's very helpful to understand the process and to learn about what to do! VJ is great!
I can't wait to see my fiancee again!!!

From what I know the minimum age is 18, unless you can prove that she is free to marry (ie. by a court in her own country, blessings of her parents, ...).
