  1. I NEVER SAID SHE IS AFRAID OF BEING HACKED BY THE U.S GOVERNMENT. She does not trust the internet in general in HER COUNTRY. DS-160 are done outside of the U.S unless the U.S sponsor does it on their behalf, am I wrong?

You are all looking at it from perspective of Americans, where we in America are fortunate to have robust IT infrastructure and information security is for the most part a non-issue (there are exceptions, big ones; Wikileaks, Facebook data analytics etc.) I think most of us are savvy enough to not fall for a Nigerian oil heir scam. The circumstances are not the same IN HER COUNTRY.

This process is stressful as is, not knowing English during a process that is mostly done in English is stressful, being long distance from your significant other is stressful. Having to give instructions over the phone/video call is stressful. Does all this cause people to overthink things? Certainly. If your journey was smooth and problem free with your significant other, and they could already speak English thus making the process easier, hats off to you.

My take on this: Why gamble? The information they have about you is limited already, plus the fact that they do this things everyday and it must be very boring... You want to show them that you REALLY want to be there, make it easy for them to accept you, not harder. If there are optional steps you could take, take them. Sometimes that makes a difference.

    I don't disagree.

My take is, if the purpose of the social media accounts is for evidence of relationship I think I provided way more substantial evidence in the I-129F, I overloaded that with evidence.

I did a google search on Vientiane Province and found out that it is the northern region from the capital of Vientiane. My fiance lives about 5 miles from Pha That Luang Temple in Vientiane Capital. Based on the screenshot that you've shared, I'm thinking of going with the address format below. Any additional tip or recommendation is always appreciated. Thank you very much Hxmky.

    11b.    Unit: ##, Xiengda Village

    11d.    Saysettha District, Vientiane Capital

    11i.      Laos

    I did below

    11b. Unit#, Village name

    11c. left blank

    11d. Vientiane

    11e. left blank

    11f. N/A

    11g. N/A

    11h. 01030

    11i. Laos

No issue, NOA2 in 3 months.

    Hi all,

My fiancee will have a K1 interview at Vientiane, Laos in about two months. She only speaks Laos. She does not speak English.

    1. Does anyone know if the K1 Visa interviewer at Vientiane speaks Laos? If not, is there an available interpreter on premise that is able to translate for her?

    2. She got all of the Laos Documents translated into English except her passport since it is written in three different languages  (Laos, French and English). Does anyone know if it is necessary to translate the Laos passport into English?

    3. Is there any fee that she needs to pay at the embassy when she goes for  the K1 Visa interview?

    4. Is she required to fill out an English form when she get the medical examination? If so, is there someone in the hospital that is able to assist her in filling out the form?

    Thanks

Looks like you 2 were lucky and were able to schedule an early interview in Vientiane. I completed DS-160 on July 23 and no appointments were available in Vientiane until December. Btw please update on the result, where is she now?

I filled my DS160 in a while ago - but if I recall, it wasn’t optional as to whether you completed that section or not.

The system will allow you to not enter info for that section, for those that don’t have social media - but if you do have social media accounts, I’m sure the instructions were that you MUST fill it out, not that it’d be cool if you did, but if not, no worries...

I think that choosing to ignore those instructions seems suspicious at best...and I’d imagine they won’t find it hard to identify that she does have social media, as presumably she uses the same email address for them that she entered when completing the DS160?

E-mail is not commonly used in her country, seems almost everything is done through Whatsapp, IT infrastructure overall is severely lacking compared to surrounding countries. The email used in DS-160 is one I had created for her, for me to monitor.

    Hello,

I really hope someone who has processed their K1 through Manila can help us out.

I see reference in the timeline that the embassy will send a packet to the sponsored fiancee around the time of the Visa interview.

We received notice that we could schedule our interview on July 2nd. However, my fiancee has had many challenges and delays getting her Passport even though she started the process long ago. Finally she will hopefully have it early September.

She has not received any packet from the embassy.

    1. Should she have received that by now?
    2. Does the embassy in the Philippines send a packet?
    3. Do they send it before or after the interview is scheduled?
    4. What does it contain? Is it unique information for our case or just a list of general information? If so, what?

Any other advice about what to bring or how it went would be VERY appreciated!

    Thank you!

Not Manila but my fiancee received nothing physically, everything was provided in email.

  7. 1.Is my fiancee supposed to receive this in postal mail in her country? So far I've only received instruction package as attachment in email from the consular section but my fiancee has not received any postal mail.

2.I have question on the below part regarding the medical exam instructions

"Step 4: As soon as you have scheduled your appointment online at ustraveldocs.com/la/ and printed the Appointment Confirmation Sheet, you (each applicant) must visit one of our designated panel physician with the Appointment Confirmation Sheet.  You should also bring the letter your petitioner received from NVC (it has two barcodes) which includes the case number for the medical exam processing. "

I (the petitioner) never received any letter containing 2 barcodes from NVC, what document is that? The only document I see with 2 bar codes is the Appointment Confirmation Sheet. I did receive an attachment in email containing Case Number and USCIS Receipt Number, is this the document being referred to? That one only has one bar code which is what threw me off.

Is this common to receive everything as email attachments and not in postal mail?

  8. I am the petitioner. My parents have been divorced for all my life and my father is deceased, I was raised by my mother, is it okay to just fill in my mother's information for Part 1, 27.a-31.b?

Can I leave Part 1, 32.a-36.b Parent 2's information blank?

My fiancee (the beneficiary) is also in the same situation, her father is not part of her life, can I leave Part 2, 29.a-33.b Parent 2's information blank for her?

Anyone who is fluent in both languages can translate....but the translation must contain the following statement:

    CERTIFICATE OF TRANSLATION

I, ___________________________, am competent to translate from ________________ into English, and certify that the translation of __________________________________ is true and accurate to the best of my abilities .

    ______________________________

    Signature of Translator

    Name of Translator

    Address of Translator

    Telephone Number of Translator

    Piggy backing on this question.

I don't have the above statement from the translator, but the translated document does have the company rubber stamp that states name of translator, name of company that provided translation service, date, address, email, and telephone.

Will this be sufficient? Image attached
