  1. We are married!! Craig finally arrived here on July 21st and we tied the not on Aug 7th! I couldn't be happier, I can't believe he's finally here and now he's all mine :)

What a crazy long wait! No we didn't get in before the July deadline, so now we're faced with a hell of an expensive AOS fee...but we'll deal with it. All that matters to me is he's here!

We followed the VJ advice to a tee, and just yesterday went to get his SS# it was a piece of cake, in and out in a matter of minutes, he was told his SS# will reach him in about 2 weeks, we called a Civil Surgeon in the area but they can't see him till Aug 20th, so we're taking this time to get every bit of paperwork together we can, and on Aug 21st (exactly one month to the day he arrived) our AOS packet will leave us and head for the Chicago Lockbox, I assume...

Anyway so yeah...we did it, we're married and things are going smoothly for us! I hope it keeps up....

Thank you VJ!! For the advice, support and direction!! I couldn't have done this without you!!

  2. Hi,

    I have a couple of quick questions regarding AOS and would really appreciate some advice. I'm a K-1 visa holder and I'm getting married this week (woohoo). My quesitons are;

    1. Do I have to wait until I've received my SSN before filing for AOS, or can I just put "NA" when asked for a SSN on the forms?

    2. I understand that as a K1 holder I don't need to submit another medical exam for AOS. But how do I obtain a vaccination suppliment form (I-693A). Can any doctor supply this?

Thanks in advance for your help!

    Craig

  3. My guy is still in the UK (for like 18 more days!!) and my daughter is leaving shortly to spend the day with her dad. I'm doing a whole lot of nothing!

I hope there's some good movies on TV or maybe I'll get lucky and my pool will be open.

I hinted at the family that a B-B-Q would be wonderful, but no takers...Ahh well...

    Happy 4th everyone!!

  4. So yes today C went to the Consulate in London. He said it was just a good interview. He was asked quite a few questions about us and how we met and my family and when's the wedding. They just barely glanced at my affidavit, didn't even look at any other work related docs. Congratulated him and said he'll have the Visa within a week.

I am soooooooooooooooooooooooo excited!! We're approved!!!!

  5. So let me get this part straight...the EAD CANNOT be filed until you file AOS (I hate abbreviations *L*) and you can't file for AOS until you are legally married, so for example if I am marrying a take charge career oriented sort of male, the sooner the wedding the better? *L* (and thanks for the tips on JFK...it's appreciated!!)

  6. Batman 71.2% Match

You like bad boys who are smart and experimental. Batman is looking for a smart, sensitive woman who likes the nightlife. Expect to stay out all night with this one ladies!

    Other Close Matches:

    Doctor Strange (69.4%)

    Hulk (66.4%)

  7. Thanks guys! Ya'll rock :)

I hated to think of him dealing with an airport the size of JFK if he can fly a direct flight into BWI via BA. I really appreciate your help.

I was reading another thread over here...as I'm finally starting to visit this forum now with our impending interview date.

How do you get a "work stamp" at POE ...can you apply for the EAD before he lands here? I thought he had to wait till he was in the country and living here to apply for a work permit?

    Thanks!!

    ~Kim

  8. I'm voting for my future hubby..hell yeah he'll work as soon as the powers that be let him work! He's bummed he can't come over on simply a work visa. He's got a great career, his university degree and is well on his way to following his passions so for him to give it up for awhile, simply cause he's waiting for his EAD is going to be frustrating, but I really hope he stays happy till he can be out at work again! :)

  9. Heya Gang,

I just joined a group on yahoo called Baltimorebrits. I wonder if there's other groups around like this one? Anyone know? Is anyone on VJ in the Baltimore/DC area? Would be awesome to find out :) This group seems active and have a regular monthly social. I imagine it would be nice to have a "home" away from home group of friends, that share the british love of real beer and curry *L*

Just curious if anyone else on here is involved in a similar group! :pop:

  10. What makes you think you need to submit your tax return at all?

Because on the checklist that accompanies the most current Affidavit of Support it says ALL SPONSORS must include: a copy of your individual Federal Income Tax Return, including W-2's for the most recent tax year, or a statement and/or evidence describing why you were not required to file. Also include a copy of each 1099, Schedule, and any other evidence of reported income. You may submit this information for them ost recent three tax years, pay stub(s) from the most recent 6 months, and /or a letterfrom your employer if you believe any of these items will help you qualify.
