I'm not sure yet, since from what I read it looks like it's still one to two month wait after approval to get a case number assigned, I thought I would just start looking for the docs at this time.

I'm kind of unsure about the Affadit of Support as well, we've been travelling around the world with my husband for the past two years and before that, we were living together in Europe. He started a new job in the US last month, so he will be above the poverty line but wondering what to do with the tax thing (He didn't file last year). So I need to take some time to do some research on what's the best move here. We can have a co-sponsor but if not sure that's needed since his salary is going to be sufficient.

From what I saw, the police certificate(s) and tax transcripts are the ''hardest'' documents to get right? Beside that, it should be pretty easy documents to give (birth certificate and such?)

Good luck to you too, I think we have similar timeline ;)

    Hello!

Police certificate can be tricky depending on the country. I would suggest you to have a look at the processing time and application method starting now.

As for the Affidavit of support, I am not entirely sure. Maybe have a look here https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/collect-and-submit-forms-and-documents-to-the-nvc/step-4-collect-financial-documents.html or search for relevant forums on VJ. I believe you need to be able to show your assets to prove that you will not be a burden on the US gov.

    Hope that helps!

    Hi,

Where does one find the information that Nebraska is doing 4-6 months?

Also what is requited for NOA2 to get ready?

Hello, you can find estimate processing times on this link: https://www.visajourney.com/content/times/

NOA2 is when the NVC confirms receipt of your petition from the USCIS. You may want to check out the NVC website for more information https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/after-petition-approved/begin-nat-visa-center.html

A bit late to the party, but filed I-130 for my wife 12/14/18 and received notice 12/19/18 through Nebraska office.

Nebraska is saying 7.5-10 months, but NOA2 is anecdotally taking roughly 4-6 months?

Hey there, from what I can see Nebraska is currently processing May 2018 petitions (link below)

    https://www.visajourney.com/content/times/

Potomac currently is taking 4-5 months to send the petition to NVC level.

In this case maybe play the '''better safe than sorry'' and get the certificate even if it doesn't seem justified... I hope that it's an easy one to get! You could also try to call the NVC but from what I read, it looks like it require patience.

I will have 2 police certificate to submit, and I read above you got 4, I hope they don't require too much efforts... good luck!

Are you starting to gather all the documents needed then?

    Hi, thanks for the reply.

Yes, I already got 2 of the 4 certificates I need. According to VJ timeline, I am expecting my case to be sent to NVC at the end of April/beginning of May, so wanted to be prepared. When are you planning to start gathering the docs?

    Good luck to you!

I don't think so, but I can only speak for myself. You cannot commit an offense or a crime before 2 years old so I don't see why it would be relevant... But better to wait for more "trusted" opinions maybe?

This is from the NVC website, it says at anytime in your life. But thats my argument too, A 2yo will not have a criminal record.

If you ... AND you... THEN submit a police certificate from...
Are 16 years old or older Lived in your country of nationality for more than 6 months at any time in your life Your country of nationality

I think it depends on the consulate. Apparently, our consulate, Ciudad Juárez, is one of the busiest one and currently it’s taking 7-9 months for the interviews after the NVC completes the case (CC).

Probably you can check the regional discussions or your consulate reviews to get an idea in how long would it be for you. I hope your consulate is faster and you’ll get over the whole process before the end of this year 😉

Thank you! I hope and pray the same for u.

Hey there! I will try to get my police certificate the first week of March, so I don’t think it’s too early, it’s better to be prepared than sorry, specially considering you will need the certificates from 4 countries, wow! That’s a lot!

The only thing that could “slow us down” to get our certificates is that I read that, at leats in my Consulate, I would need to present the Police certificate during my interviw and it shouldn’t be issued more than a year before or I would need a new one. But hopefully we will get our interviews way before than February 2020.

    Hello AnaCarolina,

Thanks for the reply. Yes, Im keeping the application for police certificate from my current country of residence for the last.

If all goes well, how long does it usually take for the interview to be scheduled at the consulate, after the NVC receives all the documents?

  8. Hello, according to the VJ timeline and given how fast Potomac is processing the cases, I am hoping to hear from the NVC by May.

I want to be to prepared so I am currently working on preparing all the necessary supporting documents. I would be needing Police certificates from 4 countries, since they all have different processing times I have filed for them last week.

My questions is, is it too early? Anyone else doing the same?

hello everyone , i heard a bad news  today that all the govement offices are closed because trumph shutdown all the gov. offc . Does anyone hears this ? Im so worried bcz it will delay our processing ☹️

Hello, USCIS is not affected by the shutdown.

    Found this from an article:

The shutdown does not affect the fee-funded activities of US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS),which processes most employer-based filings for employee immigration benefits. Offices remain open, and USCIS has instructed individuals to attend interviews and appointments as scheduled. USCIS has announced that it will continue to accept petitions and applications for benefit requests, with a few exceptions.

    Hi All,

i sent my package in December and we got a receipt email that they got it Dec 10th and that something would come in the mail by Jan 9th is that just a confirmation of them getting it?

i called the service Center and they said the application has gone to Nebraska Service Center, is that where an NA01 would be issued? How long does it take and what does it do?

    thanks

Hello the mail you are waiting for is the NOA1 its an official receipt of acknowledgement of your application. The NOA1 has the priority date and center name.

Thanks and yes I can't get the 1040 on line at the min. I have 1040EZ form from where we filed our taxes. I'll put a covering letter in explaining this is all we have right now. Hope they don't deny my case. This is our second RFE. We sent a w-2 instead last time.and that was wrong. It didn't state which form last time. We filed our AOS in Feb '18 so almost a year waiting now 😥

Hi, so you mean W2s are not accepted?

Thank you :) I am definetely with you guys at the Potomac Center (for now at least!)

Sorry to ask that, but when the estimate timeline is for May is that for NOA1 or NOA2? Like does that mean it's only the beginning of the process, or almost interview time already? I still have an hard time understanding how to read all the infos...

The NOA1 was you rceiving the receipt after filing the petition. Now we are waiting for NOA2, this is when they begin processing it. If they require more information from you they will send an REF, if its good it will be transferred to NVC level. From your NOA2 date I believe its another few months (around 3-4) for the interview.

    Have you heard anything?

Hello! Yes, we did. We received the receipt by mail on 28th Dec. Our application has been sent to Potomac Center and our Priority Date is 12th Dec. Our estimated NOA2 is May 20th - May 25th. Please check the first three characters of your receipt number it will indicate which center your application will be processed at. Example: If the receipt number starts with YSC it means its going to Potomac.
