When do you guys think we (those who have already had their conditions removed) will be scheduled for an interview? Seeing everyone that had their interviews scheduled so early in December and January has made me both excited and antsy about my own prospects.
-
Congrats all you guys! I noticed that everyone that had to do the combo 751/400 got their interviews and oath dates very early (early for 400, late for 751). I also applied in september but just for n400 (I got the removal of conditions already) but I still haven't heard back. Anyone here who already had the conditions removed prior and only filed for N-400 and got the interview date?

Hello,
I just got an acceptance letter into a very prestigious college as a transfer student from a community college. My husband and I are extremely happy but that means I will have to move to a different city and live on campus so we will not live in the same apartment anymore. He is the US citizen and I am about to file for removal of conditions (I-751).
I am worried that deciding to go to that university and moving out will cause issues with the removal of conditions considering that USCIS sees not living together as a red flag. My husband and I are both sad we might have to do long distance for a while but we came to the realization that me going to this university will be good for both of us in the long term (better job, better pay...).
What do you guys think? Should I accept the university's admission offer or just go to a normal university in my current city to be on the safe side with the green card?
Thank you.

you can travel with your expired green card and receipt of i-751 if you want to travel once your conditional GC expires.. your conditional green card expires in july. File i-751 as soon as you can and have receipt and your conditional green card to travel. you can travel any time you want .. no restricitons. Yes if you get biometrics appointment , you have to come back to give your finger prints in US
thanks for the reply. My conditional green card expires in october not july. Does filing i-751 automatically void my current conditional green card?

Hi guys,
I got my conditional green card through marriage (from being an F1 student) and my 90 days period before the 2 year anniversary begins first week of July. I will file I-751 during that week but I had a question. I am traveling out of the country the following month, August and will be out for a month. Do you thing that's a good idea? I'm afraid they will send me a biometrics appointment during august or an RFE or any other correspondence. Based on your experience, will I receive any communication from USCIS a month after filing? Also, am I even allowed to travel abroad once I file? My conditional green card will expire in october (I will be back in the US in September).
Thank you!

Hi everyone,
My husband and I got married on January 2019 and I received my Green Card on October 2019. We filed for 2019 Taxes last month but he didn't put me as his dependent because we saw on google that we can't.
I know that I am his dependent for USCIS purposes but can he do that for taxes as well? If so, how can we rectify the mistake? He's 1099.
Thank you!

Hi,
I got my conditional green card in September 2019 through marriage. I did DoorDash (food delivery) for the last 4 weeks and currently don't feel safe going out to work due to the virus spreading. Can I file for unemployment? I never filed for taxes because this is my first time working here in the US. Also will filing for unemployment make it hard for me to remove the conditions off my green card and eventually apply for citizenship?
Thank you so much!

Having a GC does not establish state residency. Do you have a CA driver’s license or state ID? This may be helpful.
Yes I’ve had a CA drivers license for a little over a year now.

Hi,
I just received my conditional green card about a month ago through marriage (from F1) and wanted to know it I’m considered now a California and thus eligible for in state tuition or do I have to live here for a certain amount of time. I moved to California exactly a year ago.
Thanks you in advance!

Hi,
Not sure where to post this. I just got my green card in the mail (through marriage) and since health insurance open enrollment starts today I need to get a plan soon.
My question is: Does getting Obamacare or any other government aided plan jeopardize removing conditions on my green card later on?
As you know, when a US citizen sponsors you, he needs to show proof that he can financially support you so that you are not asking anything from the government. So will me getting government aided health insurance affect my future immigration proceedings?
Thank you in advance for the help!

Hi,
I have my green card interview in 2 weeks (5 months after filing!) and in the letter they asked for some documents like passport, marriage license... They also asked for my birth certificate. Since it's in French, I need to a certified translation again. (I sent both an original birth certificate and original English certified translation with the original filing package). My question is, since I'm in the US, can I translate at any translation company here? The original translation I sent was from my home country. Is it ok if the one I sent originally is different than the translation I get here?
Also, I haven't received my EAD yet, do I ask for it during the interview?
Thanks.

Yes, very. It is around 6-9 months now. In some cases could be 12 months.
A whole year just to get the work permit?!

Background: AOS adjustment through marriage from F1 status | Currently residing in California
Hi guys,
I haven't received my EAD card yet and I'm starting to worry. It's been almost 4 months now. Here's my timeline so far:
05/09/2019: USCIS RECEIVED MY FILE
05/18/2019: NOTICES IN MAIL
05/24/2019: BIOMETRICS LETTERS
06/07/2019: BIOMETRICS DONE
My USCIS status for FORM I-765 says: "...we completed our review of your fingerprints and are working on your form I-765... We will let you know if we make any decision or need anything from you..."
Is it normal?
Thanks.

You can purchase short term temporary health coverage .. which will cover catastrophic medical events but not routine or preexisting medical conditions.. until you are able to sign up for health insurance during the next open enrolment period
Thanks for the input. Where can I look for those?

Hello,
I am adjusting status from F1 Student to Green Card through marriage (filed in May 2019) and would like to get health insurance while I wait for my green card (fingerprints approved - waiting on work permit).
I would like to get health insurance but unfortunately open enrollment closed and I do not qualify for any of the special events so I would have to wait until November 2019. My husband has private insurance but adding me is not an option.
1. Is there a way to get health insurance now?
2. If so, where?
Thank you!

Please aware that being an "AOS Applicant" is not a legal status.......one can be out of status with authorized stay until the AOS is adjudicated.
I would carry the NOA (when you receive it) .
Thanks for the prompt reply. I just need to know when I can dropout without jeopardizing my AOS.
Please advise.
Thanks.

Hi I filed for AOS on May 7th 2019. Im on a f1 visa and got married in January to US citizen.
I got a text message from USCIS on May 14th, 2019 saying they received my case.
I haven’t received anything in the mail yet.
Can i now drop out of school without being illegal? Am I considered a AOS applicant now that I got the text message saying my case was received?
Thanks.

Hi,
I am adjusting status from student visa to green card through marriage. My husband is my sponsor but his income falls below the poverty guidelines by $400 so we are using assets (bank checking accounts).
We have 2 joint checking accounts so my question is: since it's a JOINT account with both our names on it, should we put it on I-864 as MY assets or HIS?
Also, under Current Annual Income, for his expected income for this year, should he put his taxable income or both the taxable and non taxable ? He is self-employed and on 1099.
We are also using a letter from his "employer", since he is self employed and on 1099 what should be the wording on the employer letter?
Thank you so very much for your help!

Good morning,
I am adjusting status from F1 student through marriage. I am in the process of gathering I-130 and I485 packages. I see that on all forms there's an option to put USCIS online account #, I signed up online but can't find that number.
Please advise.
Thanks.

You can stop studying right now if you wish. After terminating F-1 status you won't have legal immigration status but "authorized stay" allowed by the US Attorney General since you are an AOS applicant.
Thanks for the prompt reply. I haven't applied yet, I will file by the end of April.

Hey guys,
I'm filling for AOS from F1 to green card through marriage. I am still enrolled in school but wanted to know when I can drop out after filing I-485? Can I let go of F1 status right after i get a "Notice of Action"? If so, how long after filling will I get that letter. If not, do I have to wait until I get my work permit?
I just want to make sure I'm not illegally here at any point in time. I know that me doing AOS shows intent of immigration which voids my F1. So I want to leave school as soon as I'm not obliged to attend anymore.
Thanks.

Hi everyone,
As an F1 student adjusting status through marriage, do I have to send USCIS any documents showing my legal status such as the school's I-20?
Thanks.
N-400 September 2022 Filers
in US Citizenship Case Filing and Progress Reports

You guys have helped me so much throughout this journey so I wanted to share my timeline as a small thank you:
From F1 student to US Citizen via marriage:
May 2019: Initial filing (I-485 adjustment of status)
May 2019: Biometrics notice in mail
June 2019: Biometrics done
September 2019: Interview notice
October 2019 (1st week): Work Authorization card received
October 2019 (2nd week): Green Card interview and approval
October 2019 (3rd week): 2 year Green Card received
August 2021: Filed for Removal of conditions (I-751)
January 2022: Case updated to show fingerprints are not needed to be retaken
May 2022 (1st week): Removal of conditions approved (no interview)
May 2022 (2nd week): 10 year Green Card received
September 2022: Filed for citizenship
February 2023: Interview scheduled
April 2023: N-400 Interview and same day oath ceremony
Here is how long it took for each filing:
It took 5 months to get 2-year green card (between filing I-485 and approval)
It took 9 months to get 10-year green card (between filing I-751 and approval)
It took 7 months to get citizenship (between filing I-400 and approval)
In total it took 4 years to go from being on a student visa (F1) to becoming a US Citizen.

We did not use any lawyers.
We are located in Los Angeles, CA.
Tips:
Research, research, research. (VisaJourney, ***removed***, and Reddit's u/uscis were of immense help)
Take as many documents with you as you can, but only show what is asked of you.
Be kind, confident, and honest.
