Once again.... WORDS..... ACTIONS
Should we condemn all Christians for the actions of the IRA or the Lord's Resistance Army?

Rather than all this stimulus plans that have done nothing but put us further into debt and haven't get the economy going I would have rather seen a 2 year corperate tax holiday. That would have gotten people back to work.
Corporate tax breaks don't create jobs. It might lower a risk assessment of hiring for a few companies. But by and large that money is going to sit in corporate accounts until the economy gets better or its going to be paid to shareholders and owners as dividends/bonuses.

I really dont think business leaders make decisions based on a frickin news article. They look at hard costs!
Lets say you want to grow your business. To do so you need to hire 10 employees. You look at the cost, and see that you can afford it, all good there.
Then you look at the economy to evaluate how risky taking on business expansion would be. If the company's tolerance from risk is low, they might look at an article like this , provided that they find the author "trustworthy" and decide to shelve expansion plans.
Those people that could have been hired, even though the company can afford the costs, wont be because the perceived risk of expansion is too high. because most business people are not economists, they are going to defer to economists that they "trust".

Until the unemployment problem is fixed then a tightening of spending isn't a choice, it is a neccessity. This isn't a self fulfilling prophecy, it is inevitable unless people get back to work.
Actually it is. The biggest argument from business about not hiring is "uncertainty". People pushing predictions like this is what is driving uncertainty. A business leader will read a story like this and continue to hold off hiring, thus prolonging a recovery and making the prediction essentially come true.
A modern economy is much more influenced by what people perceive. Those perceptions drive decisions whether its hiring new employees or investing in a new product or venture.

I have a 2 years or the conditional green card. (actually, waiting for it to be on the mailbox). but my question is, is it possible for me to petition my parents who are in the Philippines to come to the US? They have 10 years visitors visa already. But they can only stay in the US for a maximum on 6 months and then go back to the PI's and then come back again for 6 months for 10 years. This sounds so expensive. Please I need your help or information regarding this matter. Thanks.
As said before, you need to be a citizen to petition a parent.
If your parents are constantly coming back and hardly spending any time in the Philippines, they may find their tourist visa revoked. Its not intended to be used to basically live in the US.

I have been married for more than 2 years now. My CR-1 visa was issued just this August 2010. I would like to ask what will be the next step once I go to the US? When will I receive my green card? And should I still file for adjustment of status or lift I should just file for lifting of my conditional status to permanent resident? Please help. Thank you
If you have been married for more than two year at the time of entry, you should receive a 10 year green card.

Q: Since so many people seem to be against having kids ... who do you think is going to be paying for your Social security when you are like 75 yrs old?
I think they should make SS payments based on the number of kids you have.
As it turns out, the only people in this country reproducing in healthy numbers are those most likely to be getting "Tax refunds" each year.
Just a thought as the system crashes.
Thats something that happens to every developed country. Once people no longer need children to provide for their retirement, they have less of them. This is not a bad thing, however the transition into neutral population growth can be a little rocky if not managed correctly. Countries with tighter immigration policies are going to have more problems than those with more open polices.
Couples with children already get credits and deductions for having children and depending how much they make, it often results in paying no taxes overall.

AIG and Government motors are close. So close can't really say it is lame.
For some of the companies, the government has already begun to sell its ownership, or has plans to do so in the near future. But i suppose complete economic collapse would have been the better alternative to taking over a few companies.

hi
my wife came here to usa thru marraige with me i am a US citizen. after she she came here and got her green card for 2 years, we moved from massachusetts to mississippi and now is the time to file for I-751 for her
my question is
do i have to file a AR-11 form for the address change or can i just put this new address on for I 751
thanks in advance
I would recommend sending both of them in. They may not process an address change unless it comes in on the address change form. The form is free anyway and doesn't take much time.

Howwould this look after saying no on the I-94W?
I don't think it will matter. A juvenile record does not carry over into adulthood, unless tried as an adult.

I have been hovering the board and have to say fantastic info here...
I have not seen anything similar to my question and hope that you may be able to help or direct me, My position may seem complicated, but will keep it simple and to the facts...
I am UKC and fiance is USC we want to get married but know we need to apply for the K1 and know we need understanding of the following.
My parents immigrated to canada in 1965 and 4 years later to the usa and I wouldve been 4...by the time I was 13 my parents need to return home and requested assistance from the british conulate general in L.A weeks later it was agreed the consul would assist our return to England and they had green cards taken away and escorted to the airport in 1977. I am currently pursueing any documentation from the office as we speak.
2 months of being in England i was accused of greivious bodily harm to a boy slightly younger than me and it eventually went to court with a conviction, but suspended probationary period, but had frequent visits from a probation officer for a few months afterwards.... I have requested a poice check PNC to see what shows up, but will be honest on the application when the time comes but still feel the need to track down the court files on this if i can to prove my prudence in all aspects of the application and how serious I am of being honest
in the late 1980s wanted to go on holiday to USA and asked the embassy if the assisted removal would affect me and they said no so went and filled in the card on the plane checking no to each question.
few years later went again, but applied for a multiple entry visa as i was going to the behamas and returning to the US after a 2 day cruise and it was approved.
Since then have been many many times and unkowing the meaning of moral turpitude, sumising it was not related to me....I know no exscuse for ignorence, but was my honest assumption and was not aware of applicability to my childhood.
I have been to see my fiance 3 times alone this year and fear that all previous visits are now ileagal entries and may go against me.
Out of intrest do cases of moral turpitude get looked at and still approved for the K1?
any advice greatly appreciated
The conviction you are talking about occurred when you were still a minor. At least in the US, unless you were tried as an adult (which generally only happens in cases of murder) your record would be sealed and could not be used against you as an adult.
I don't think you should have a problem with this, but you might want to talk to a lawyer.

Naturally people will work off their frustrations about the economy and the D's will lose a lot of seats in November
If the democrats didn't loose any seats, that would be historically significant. Pretty much in every case when the white house switches parties, that party looses seats in the next mid term election.
The question is how much and can they get a coherent plan together to keep the momentum going in 2012. It takes more than just being the other party to win an election.
The approval rating of Obama at this time is largely a reflection of how people feel about the economy. Even though at this point, its up to businesses/investors to keep the recovery moving, Obama is still the target of frustration.
-
is having a congenital heart disease would cause a problem in visa application?
No
-
I just wanted to know about country being a high or low fraud in visa processing, and how do u know if your country is in the high or low fraud rate.thank's
This depends on the country you are taking about. Beneficiaries in Vietnam and China have a much more difficult time to get a visa than a beneficiary in Indonesia. That has to do with the practice of family members arranging marriage of relatives for the sole purpose of immigration.
Beneficiaries in middle east and some north African countries often have issues because certain names are very common and they are likely to be on lists associated with terrorist groups. A lot of extra processing time is required to clear that person.

My Wife received her CR-1 visa in May. She was called in to the local USCIS office in June to verify biometrics.. Does anyone have any idea how long it typically takes to get the actual green card in the mail? It going on 3 months.
Thanks!
Usually within 1 month after entry. Make in info-pass appointment if you haven't received it after a month.

I have been in the Philippines living with my wife since January 14th of this year (we were married Feb 25th). I am on a tourist visa, but I heard it can be hard to file DCF without a residency visa. I currently have a lease here under my name but up until last month the lease was in my wife's name. The landlord can attest that I lived there and paid the rent though. I am going to call the embassy and check but I have been read elsewhere that you can be frequently told one thing one time and then another the next time you talk to them. Just wondering if anyone has filed under similar circumstances in Manila.
Also we are in Cebu and the embassy is in Manila. I have read on this site that you may have to go back to the embassy frequently with a DCF. Anyone know if this is true here?
DCF requirements vary somewhat between each country. Most often filing DCF requires a resident visa and often a minimum stay of 6 months.
-
I'm seeing a lot of "immediate openings" around here for $8.25/hour.
For a person on unemployment, if they were making decent money before getting laid off, the unemployment check will probably still be worth more than $8.25/hr working full time.

I need to explain the joint sponsor's responsbility to someone..and i see, am not clear on this.
This is regarding the address change he has to report. How long he has to really do this? The following is the verabtim copy from the I865 -form for updating the new-address. Now my question is about 'Becomes a U.S. citizen; ' 'Can be credited with 40 quarters of work;'
Are these conditions one or the other, or both? How long does it typically take for a CR1 person to become citizen? What if the person do not opt for citizenship even after that period..?
"
When Should I Use Form I-865?
If at any time in the past you completed a Form I-864, Affidavit of Support, to sponsor an immigrant, you are required to report your change of address within 30 days of the change if the sponsorship agreement is still in force. The sponsorship agreement remains in force until the
sponsored immigrant:
Becomes a U.S. citizen;
Can be credited with 40 quarters of work;
Departs the United States permanently and either formally
abandons lawful permanent resident status (by filing Form
I-407) or is formally held in a removal proceeding to have
abandoned that status;
In a removal proceeding, loses the lawful permanent
resident status that the sponsored immigrant obtained based
on your Form I-864; or
Dies. "
Its one or the other. Becomming a citizen will take either 3 or 5 years. For most cases its 5 years unless the green card is obtained through marriage and is still married to the same person after 3 years. However, becomming a citizen is optional as in many cases it would result in the lost of citizenship with the birth country.
-
I have already been in the US under a student visa for two years. Would that count as 2 of the three years necessary? Do I have to apply for a permanent resident status before applying for citizenship?
No, time under other status would not count. Only time as PR would count. The time to apply for citizenship is 3 years through marriage and 5 years if you got a greencard through another route like H1-B.
You will also need to spend most of that time within the US, a long absence from the US could reset the time until eligible for citizenship.
With dual citizenship, the US would not provide aid if you were in some kind of trouble within Canada like they would if you needed assistance in other countries.
As long as you remain a citizen, you will need to file income taxes, even if you are not residing in the US. Although the first 80 thousand (Exemption changes each year, check with the IRS for current level) or so is exempt from any taxes. There are some treaties regarding double taxation with certain countries.

(CNN) -- Former Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens has died in a plane crash near Dillingham, Alaska, and his family has been notified, the senator's former chief of staff Mitch Rose confirmed to CNN Tuesday.
The private plane carrying Stevens and a former head of NASA crashed Monday night in a rugged stretch of southern Alaska. The crash left at least five people dead, but at least three people survived, authorities said.
Maj. Guy Hayes, a spokesman for the Alaska Air National Guard, said rescue crews were working to get at least three injured people away from the scene. He said it's possible there may be more survivors.
"They have definitely worked on two people. They're working on a third person to get him out of there right now," said Hayes, who noted that rough terrain has complicated rescue efforts.
"It's been pretty difficult to get into the area," Hayes said. "It took them roughly about 12 hours, I think, from when the plane was spotted by good samaritans until we got there on scene."
EADS North America said its chief executive officer, Sean O'Keefe, who formerly headed the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, was a passenger on the aircraft.
Stevens' family would neither confirm nor deny reports that the former Alaska Republican senator was aboard, but earlier family members released a statement offering their prayers for the crash victims.
"The Ted Stevens family offers their prayers for all those on board and for their families. We thank the brave men and women who are working to reach the site," said the statement, read on CNN by Rose.
"We continue to work with the Alaska National Guard, the U.S. Coast Guard and the Alaska state troopers. We thank everyone for their support and prayers," the statement said.
The news has reverberated across the state and country. Sarah Palin, the former Alaska governor and the 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate, sent out a Twitter message saying: "Heartbreaking Bristol Bay plane crash. Alaska's heart surrounds loved ones. More info coming in; pls pray for Dillingham rescue this morning."
The White House also cited the loss. "Our hearts and our thoughts and prayers go out to all the families who suffered a loss today. We'll have more information soon," said deputy press secretary Bill Burton.
Federal Aviation Administration reports said eight or nine people were on the plane, which crashed near the town of Dillingham. The reports said five people died and others were injured.
The agency's Alaska office said the flight was from GCI Lodge on Lake Nerka to Dillingham. Matthew Felling, an anchor and a reporter for KTVA, told CNN the people on the flight were headed to a fishing trip.
Though EADS North America confirmed O'Keefe was on the plane, there was no word on his fate.
The National Transportation Safety Board has assembled a team to investigate the crash. Senior air safety investigator Clint Johnson, from the board's Anchorage regional office, will be the investigator in charge, and the entire team is expected in Dillingham by midday.
Inclement weather was reported in the area at the time of the crash, said Hayes, the Coast Guard spokesman.
The Dillingham region, near the Bering Sea southwest of Anchorage, is rugged terrain surrounded by mountains.
Storms there don't move quickly during this time of year but aren't as strong as those in winter, said Rob Marciano, CNN meteorologist.
"We haven't seen visibility improve much, so fog is an issue, and we haven't seen much in the way of that clearing," he said.
Megan Peters, a state police spokeswoman, said the crash area is a remote location that's hard to reach.
"We have the best of the best in the search-and-rescue field in this state ... and when they have trouble getting into an area, I know it's bad," she said.
There is a lot of air travel in the state amid perilous weather and terrain. In 1978, Stevens survived a plane crash. In 1972, House Majority Leader Hale Boggs and U.S. Rep. Nick Begich were traveling in a plane that is thought to have crashed in Alaska. It was never found. Nick Begich was the father of the current U.S. senator, Mark Begich.
The NTSB said the plane crashed 10 miles northwest of Aleknagik about 8 p.m. Alaska Daylight Time. Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Paul Takemoto said that the plane was a DeHavilland DHC-3 Otter. He said its tail number was N455A and it was registered to GCI Communications Corp., based in Anchorage.
Bush pilots commonly use such planes.
The Air Force 11th Rescue Coordination Center, which is manned by Alaska National Guardsmen, was contacted by Dillingham Flight Service after someone spotted the downed aircraft.
Col. Dave Lapan, a Pentagon spokesman, said three rescue squadrons of the Alaska Air National Guard had been asked by the coordination center to respond to the scene. They fly both helicopters and fixed wing-aircraft. The Alaska Air National Guard and U.S. Coast Guard said they had personnel on the crash site -- about 17 miles north of Dillingham, according to Alaska's Department of Military and Veteran Affairs.
An Alaska Air National Guard HH-60 Pave Hawk helicopter carrying rescue crews landed Tuesday morning and gave "medical support to the crash victims," it said.
O'Keefe had a long career in the government and higher education, most recently serving as NASA administrator from December 2001 until his resignation in February 2005.
Before heading NASA, O'Keefe served for 11 months as deputy director of the Office of Management and Budget, overseeing the preparation, management and administration of the federal budget.
Stevens served more time in the U.S. Senate than any Republican in history.
He earned the nickname "Uncle Ted" and a reputation as one of the most effective of all pork-barrel lawmakers, a senator who funneled billions of federal dollars to his home state.
Born November 18, 1923, Stevens graduated from UCLA and Harvard Law School and moved to Alaska in the 1950s to work as a lawyer. He was elected to the state's House of Representatives in 1964 and 1966.
In July 2008, a federal grand jury indicted Stevens for making false statements on financial disclosure forms. He was convicted on October 27, 2008.
The next month, Stevens lost a bid for re-election to Democratic challenger Mark Begich, then the mayor of Anchorage. Citing prosecutorial misconduct, a federal judge later dismissed Stevens' conviction.
Alaska's two current U.S. senators issued statements on the accident, before the identities of those killed were confirmed.
Sen. Lisa Murkowski, a Republican, asked "Alaskans to join me in prayer for all those aboard the aircraft and their families."
Sen. Mark Begich, a Democrat, said his "thoughts and prayers are with those on board the plane and their families as we wait for more information."

We have moved into the 21st century and do not have a landline.
But no, it happened today around noon, last night around 9:30, it is very random. Hmmm. Desperately random...
If you are loosing wireless signal, then interference is probably the problem. Though it may not be from you, it could be a neighbor. A 2.4 ghz phone will interfere with a wireless router since it often operates on the same frequency.
Otherwise there might be other things generating noise. I've heard about issues with interference from other electronics, like security lamps.
This is something to look for if you loose wireless signal. If you keep wireless signal but cant get on, then it might be time to replace the router.

Hello All,
My fiance and I met online in 2007,and since then our story has been
one of love, patience faith and determination. After a few months of
chatting with each other we both new we were meant for one another,
so in November 2007 i applied for my passport to visit her in the
Philippines but to my surprise i was denied due to a mistake by
child support It seems that child support had miscalculated my
earnings and never bothered to notify me of any changes so after
1 1/2 years of back and forth calls we finally got every thing worked
out and i received my passport and am going to the Philippines this
September to finally meet my very patient, understanding and loving
soul mate.
Can anyone explain to me in simple terms what is all involved and
what steps i should take before during and after my visit and please
explain all terms i do not know what any of those abbreviations stand for
Thanks and GOD Bless
1SOULMATE
During your visit, take lots of pictures, keep receipts and ticket stubs.
You can take care of the some of the paperwork like the letter of intent. Look at the guides for more info.

Depending on what school and what degree your fiancée is going for, you may not find much benefit to finishing school in Venezuela. Instead it might be a better idea to transfer the classes you can, and finish education within the US.
Its hard to make a judgement on that without doing some research.

Lords Resistance Army is very current. They are trying to establish a government based on the ten commandments in Uganda and have been responsible for crimes against humanity in their conquest.
Since these guys claim to be Christian, that must mean all Christians support their actions, right? To use your words, that is such an elementary concept.
