    Kittyanne,

If you are in Sac, I suggest asking your husband to take you to the bay area. If you go to MIlpitas, Union City or Daly City. You will see many many Pinoys there. Maybe easier to get some Pinoy food. although, i do remember there is a Filipino restaurant in Sacramento that is in a weird location. like where commercial offices are. A place where you never see restaurants. They had decent Longanesa and topsilog...

    just fyi

oh really? do you remember the name of the restaurant? we're near in offices but i dont see any restaurants there. The only filipino restaurant we know is in Seafood City. But thanks! i already miss longanisa. lol

Back to the topic about SSN..

Do you guys know if i should print out all this RM 10211.530 and bring it with me when i apply for ssn along with the other docx? because its from ssn site not pdf. And whats this for?

You should also bring the document RM 10211.530 that you printed out

  2. 1.
The SS-5 form you downloaded and filled out (they have some at the office if you forget).
    2.
your Passport (with the K-1 Visa in it)
    3.
your valid I-94: Electronic I-94 Copy; or (for older entries) an original (and bring a front/backside copy) of a valid paper I-94
    4.
another form of valid ID (as defined in the SS-5 instructions)
    5.

You should also bring the document RM 10211.530 that you printed out

Hello everyone, i dont understand the number 5 above. Its from ssn site. Should i print it all out? What for is this?

And can i give passport instead of ID?

I got married in Sacramento and got our marriage certificate the same day, right after the wedding.  We got married in Fair Oaks.

just like what everybody mentioned, try to get your ssn and since you already know the forms you’ll need  to submit to do your AOS, I suggest you look up those forms and read each instructions on the USCIS website with regards to each form.

Good to know. Congrats! Were planning to get married in courthouse.. Im wondering if we need to schedule it first.

Only took my wife 83 days to get EAD and AP approval, and we filed in February. You should already have your SS card. We went to the SS office 18 hours after arrival in Los Angeles and she was in the computer. Had her SS card 10 days later, you Definitely want to drop everything and get to the SS office, as you are already behind schedule of of things to do for AOS.

You also may want to come to Vegas to get married, it's quick and easy, and you can have your marriage certificate the next day, sometimes same day. It can take 3-4 weeks depending on county you get married in in California to get your marriage certificate. So I would check on that also. Do the drive thru wedding for 80 bucks, or 125 with photos included. You can fill out all the information online before you get to the marriage license bureau also, you can have your license in less than 10 minutes.

Wow thats quick! Congrats! I wonder how long we can have our marriage certificate here in Sacramento and i wonder if sacramento court have drive thru wedding and if they also offer photo taking since were planning to go just us two.lol Because as far as we know we have to get a schedule first. Do we need to submit marriage license also for AOS?

Also make sure to put your new married name on these forms. Unless it asks for "other names" or "maiden name".

Get SSN now then get name change after your EAD comes in. That will take about 3 months after filing.

Every documents we have to pass for adjustment of status i should put my married name on it?? If it ask for other names..what should i put?

    Form I-485 AOS

Form I-864 Affidavit of Support for AOS

Form I-765 Employment Document (free if filed with AOS)

Form I-131 Travel Document (free if filed with AOS)

You may also want to visit this Forum to learn more about what documents to send:

Forms I-485 Adjustment of Status, I-131 Advanced Parole (travel document) and I-765 Employment Authorization (Work Permit). File all together and pay only the fee for the I-485, the other two are free.

File after you get married but before your I-94 expires is ideal.

It is strongly advised to file for adjustment of Status BEFORE the expiration of your I-94.  Failure to do so will result in your being out of status and subject to detention and removal.  It is also recommended to file your I-765 and I-131 along with your I-485.  See the guides section of this web site..

is the I-94 is the 90 days? The immigration officer in my port of entry didnt give me a form like I-94..only a stamp on my passport with stamp date and written date.. i dont know if the written date is expiration date.. but it falls into the 90 days..

so the form for work permit is I-765 that i dont have to pay.

  8. Hello everyone, I am currently here in California with a K1 VISA for 2 weeks now. My fiance and i are planning to marry next week. Then apply for adjustment of status and work permit then Social security number..

My question is about the Adjustment of Status.. I am confuse which form do i have to file? When should i apply the adjustment of status? Can i submit my work permit with my adjustment of status?

I hope you can help me. Thank you in advance!

Thank you guys. And I know there isn’t a ds fee. I meant the fee for the visa.

There is no fee when filling out the ds160 form. The fee is for the VISA fee that you have to pay to schedule your medical exam and interview appointment. If you have filled out the ds160 form you can now pay in BPI.. After you pay you can now schedule your interview and go to SLEC. I suggest that  do your medical first at st.lukes before scheduling your interview (only if you have doubt about your health, but if you think youre good then schedule the interview) because the earliest date for k1 visa interview is March 27, the next is May. And you can only cancel a schedule for 3 times, the third time you have to pay again.

    Hope this helps!

Get a doctor's note explaining the scar. Then have the doctor put is not a threat to self or others. You'll avoid a psychological evaluation with a note.

how and where can i get that?

    8 hours ago, geowrian said:

That's commonly the case with Knightbridge. SLEC generally looks at the scar(s) and responses to questions. A doctor's note is not generally considered (FWIW, you can get a doctor to write basically anything in PH if you have money).

where can i get doctors note?

  11. 30 minutes ago, geowrian said:

SLEC will likely require a psychological evaluation. Just answer the questions and it shouldn't be an issue.

Do NOT try to hide anything, and never, ever lie to anybody with immigration (including a panel physician) - that's a permanent bar on any visa.

Can I tell them that it's a long time ago wound because I scratch it using my finger nails then until it started to cut and become wounded.. because that's basically what happened and I'm not suicidal..lol.. coz I don't want them to think that I did it because I planned to suicide or whatever..because I wasn't..

Everyone I know that was in the same situation got a letter from their doctor stating they are OK now and not a threat to themselves or others. With that note, you will pass the medical fine. Without the note there is a possibility your case could be delayed.

How long it will take to get a psychological evaluation? can it be done on the 2nd day of medical exam or I have to schedule for psycological evaluation?
