  1. Are you talking about a one-way ticket from India to the US? Makemytrip and individual airline sites can help but your better half is sure to get a better deal by contacting a local travel agent in Mumbai...just try calling a few and see the best deal you are getting. Make sure the price they are quoting has seat availability.

  2. Hello all,

Wanted to share the good news, my fiancee's K1 visa was approved today at Mumbai embassy. I'll try and note as much as my fiancee told me last night when she finished with her interview.

Her appointment was at 7.30am, she had paid the 200Rs VFS fees which gives you access to the Stars and Stripes lounge etc. so she showed up at 7.05am and they took her in a bus to the embassy around 7.15. They admitted her in the embassy along with others immediately. Once in, she waited until 8.30am until an Indian gentleman called her name and asked her few questions. He was very friendly and asked basic questions like who is petitioning you, how long have you known each other, how did you'll meet, have you been to the US before, where else have you traveled. She submitted the draft and the I-134. Then she had to go back and wait. There was a TV in there so she spent the time watching TV.

While waiting, she noticed that some people were being called for interviews by token numbers and others by names. I'm thinking those will be immigrant vs. non immigrant visa applicants.

Anyways, about an hour and half later or less, she was called for her second interview with the consular officer. This was a quick one. The Consular Officer asked her how we kept in touch, whether she had traveled to the US before, why is she getting married in the US, will her family attend, have you made any plans as yet...she asked when we were engaged and who was present at the time and then wanted to see some pictures. That was it, she said her visa was approved and her passport would be sent home by courier.

She was out of the embassy a little after 10 am. She said her entire experience was very pleasant and the staff were very courteous and professional.

Thank you all for your wonderful support on this part of our journey and looking forward to continued guidance on our next journey once she joins me here.

  3. Always mention your case number in the subject line of the email and also in the body of the email. They do respond, though it takes about a week to get to your email. However, if your question is of general nature and already answered on their website, you may not get a quick answer.

If you are trying to confirm if they received your file or not, email is a good option. They do reply.
