  1. Hello all,

As we get ready to file our I-751 submission, had a couple of questions. My apologies if they have already been asked/discussed elsewhere in this forum.

    1. Documentation: Can I mask out financial information from tax documents, bank accounts etc. For example, does the IO need to see our Gross Income, taxes paid or can I just mask that part out? Same for bank accounts, do they need to see the transactions on the statement, the bank balance or for that matter, even the bank account number?

    2. Affidavits from friends/family - Is that absolutely necessary or just one form of documentation that can be submitted? If we are already submitting tax papers, joint account information, utility bills, photographs, birth certificate of our child, do we also need affidavits?

    Thank you for your help.

  2. I used Raza and was very happy. I think their rates are 6.9 cents to India and you can print your call log which is helpful at interview time. The website is www.raza.com.

I know someone who uses Reliance too and they are extremely pleased with it.

  3. Check with your local DMV as soon as your fiancee gets here. We went after we got our social security #, however it was within 60 days of the K1 expiring and they would not issue a State ID to us. You can try to get a temporary license but I think they will still not issue a card if it is within 30 days of the visa expiring. Explaining that we have applied for AOS did not help in our case.

However, please check with your local DMV, many have been able to get both.

  4. My fiancee came to the US on K1, we got married and got our social security within a month. We went to the DMV to get a State ID so that we could open a bank account etc., however the lady at the counter and her supervisor turned down our application saying that the I94 was expiring within 60 days and so they could not issue a state ID.

We explained that my wife entered on a K1 and we were married within the stipulated time, so the I94 expiration date should not really count, but they did not agree. How can we convince them otherwise? Has anyone else faced this problem?

  5. Hi there,

It takes about 8-12 months for K1, the work permit about 3 months after you get to the US and apply - review this website in detail and the Asia forum, the Processing time links and also the guides....you will find all the information you need. And you can always get clarifications for any questions you may have from the forum here.

Good luck with your journey and yes, you both will require to be patient as you go through the process.

  6. Finally our long K1 process was over and my fiancee joined me in the US on Dec 9. We got married on December 11. My wife had a social security number when she was schooling and working here prior to going back to her country. I had provided that number in the G325 form at the time of K1 filing.

We were going to go to the Social Security office tomorrow to file for name change using the same number and we just wanted to know if we were on the right path so far. Is it a problem that we got married prior to applying or updating social security information and will the name change process be a problem? Don't know why I am getting the jitters.

  7. Neel, can you not get the second signature? Else, I think it is okay to get another I-134 from your other uncle as your co-sponsor...the other more experienced members can comment if this would not be acceptable at this stage.. it seems to me as long as you meet the required guidelines, it should not matter if you changed your co-sponsor, you can always explain that your aunt is not reachable right now.

Jas also recently changed his co-sponsor and the embassy seemed okay with that.

Your processing is on hold until you provide the required paperwork and all will be fine - please do not worry.
