  1. I received the letter (dated June 14th) for the National Visa Center with my case number on it, and telling me they were sending to Manila, and that Annie should be receiving her packet soon.

It's now been 5 weeks, and still nothing received by Ann. Is this normal, or extermely long for the Philippines? I've looked at the timeline, and I'm figuring that it is getting to be a bit long.

Do I call the NVC, or the Embassy in Manila to check on the status?

    Thank you for any advice..

    Barry

  2. Maybe everybody should buy a copy of the Fair Tax book.

It provides a reasonable way to keep tax burden low on those who do not have a good income, and the consumption based sales tax taxes the wealthy at a greater degree, since they consume far more.

It's a very interesting book that covers all the bases of keeping taxes virtually zero on low income individuals.

The Fair Tax Proposal was created by a group of Professors, and Economists who were commissioned to do a study to find a new simpler tax form, that would promote economic growth, with a zero effect on tax revenues.

It would be a really great way to change from an income based tax filled with thousands of loopholes and problems, to a easy to understand, straight forward sales tax.

  3. That's an easy choice. I will be with Annie, I promised to marry her, and to be her husband, and that was not based upon whether we could live together in the USA, that is based upon the fact that she is my partner, my friend, my love, and more than I ever dreamed possible.

Finding good work would be challenging, but we'd find a way.

  4. The two best places I've used are Best Travel Store and Just Fares I have purchased tickets through both places, and was highly satisfied.

Both of them were better priced than any other service I could find.

I worked with Mark at Just Fares, and he was great to work with. He can be reached by email at mark@justfares.com, or you can reach him by phone or fax below:

    Toll Free: - 1-866-253-0126 Ext-1015

    Fax: - 1-206-204-2120

Those are the two places I'll be checking with for tickets for my next visit, and for Annie's ticket to USA.

  5. Ann and I are going to have a small party for family and friends in the Philippines before we come to the USA.

Then we plan to have a simple civil wedding in the USA to satisfy the "legal" requirements of our Visa.

When we have finished enough of the process where Ann and I can return to the Philippines for a vacation, we are planning on have a wedding ceremony in the Philippines to share with her family and friends.

We'd rather not tempt fate, and even have a "fake" wedding in the Phlippines first, when we can go this direction, and legally satisfy everyone, and still have a more formal wedding for family later. (Besides it's a good excuse to go back for a couple weeks.)

  6. Here's a blurb from a webpage about the story, which eliminates the issue of the "criminal" fleeing. They were still in the midst of the act, when she cried rape, and her husband shot him... Now, if someone was on top of your wife or fiancee, in the front of a pickup, and she yelled she was being raped.. What would you do??

Here's the first part of the article from CourtTV:

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) " Darrell Roberson came home from a card game late one night to find his wife rolling around with another man in a pickup truck in the driveway.

Caught in the act with her lover, Tracy Denise Roberson " thinking quickly, if not clearly " cried rape, authorities say. Her husband pulled a gun and killed the other man with a shot to the head.

  7. I'm just curious..

I assume you have copies of everything. Since you've been waiting so long, have you started refilling out the forms, and getting everything ready, just in case?

It shouldn't take a long time to fill out the forms again, since you already have all the information gathered. I would be getting a replacement packet put together, so IF, they say it is lost, I could send a new one out the same day.

  8. Just an FYI, go under EDIT, PREFERENCES, click on UPDATES in the left hand column. Then change you settings to "Do not automatically check for critical updates" and uncheck the "Display notification dialog at startup" and you should be rid of most of the NAG screens..

  9. Your biggest issues with staying with old version of Adobe's Acrobat Reader (note: it is not an Apple product, never has been) is that if someone creates new Acrobat documents using one of the newer versions of Acrobat, using all of it's new features and forms, then you won't be able to properly read it with an older version.

I'll agree, the newer versions take more disk space, more memory, and have the really irritating "update me now" popups, but you're much better off staying on a more recent version, so you don't end up with improper forms.

  10. They could be asking for just about anything. They will want your most recent FILED tax return. If you have not filed your 2006, then it would be the 2005. Since you mention you sent them your 2006 W2, they could easily be asking for the 2006 Return, since you're partially using the 2006 Income as part of your Evidence. The W2 does not truly state your income, since it is pre-tax and expense deductions, so they probably will want your 2006 return, since you sent them the W2.

At this point you're speculating that it is the tax forms? That's a pretty big speculation, it could be anything.
