Don’t worry. Some country’s automatically put cases in AP after their interviews. It is like a second check. Email your Embassy for details. It could be just for a couple of days, don’t get to discouraged.

Yeah! Thanks, guys! I freaked out but it was all fine. 24h later they switched my case status to "Issued". I truly appreciate all support from people of this forum throughout this long journey. Hope everyone may hear good news ASAP as well. Good luck y'all.

It's quite normal for online status to be showing "administrative processing" until the visa is actually issued.

This could also mean an actual "administrative processing", as the verbal confirmation form the officer doesn't really mean anything. You just have to wait.

An airline ticket is easily refundable within 24 hours in most cases though.

Thank you very much for your prompt response. In fact, now I am not sure if I should take the risk of losing my money and keep up with the tickets purchase (because it is an essentially important job trip) or cancel it and miss out my opportunity there. Really tough decision.

  3. Hi guys! I had my interview yesterday at US Embassy in Rio (Brazil) and the officer who interviewed told me I was fine and had been granted my immigrant visa and our passports would arrive at my mail within 10 days. Surprisingly, I just checked the visa status website right now and saw my case was undergoing administrative processing. How on earth is it possible? I bought my ticket earlier this morning to travel to the US next month and I am really afraid of wasting my money. Has anyone ever experienced something like that? How long this "administrative processing" usually takes? I am really freaking out! :(

  4. Hi folks, I came up with this doubt and maybe the nice people around here could help me out to clear things up.

I have my interview scheduled for February 4th and right after that (by the end of the month) I need to travel to the US to attend a Campus Interview for a Professor Position at a Public American University I am applying to.

Since my case is employed-based, I am returning to Brazil right after this brief 2-day-interview period and expect to come back only when I get an offer from this university or any other job I am applying to (because I believe I have 6 months to do that after getting my visa stamped, right?).

Therefore, I am not sure if I can do that using my tourist visa or if the officials at the airport are likely to consider this travel as my definitive arrival in the country and issue my GC. If this is the case, may I give them a friend's address to have the green card sent there? Also, will I be allowed to come back overseas right after two days of my arrival? Do you guys think I should let the official interviewing me at the US Embassy know about it?

Any tips on that would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  5. Hi folks,

Maybe somebody here might clarify the process of scheduling interviews done by NVC and our respectively embassies.

My EB2 case was completed on Nov 30 and since then I’m waiting my interview to be scheduled at Rio Embassy (Brazil). NVC only take action early in the beginning of each month? Does it mean if I don’t get my interview’s letter this week I should expect it only next month?

Thanks in advance and good luck to everyone!

It truly depends on your embassy. For me it took 1 month to get interview date, others just a few days, others two months...

Thank you for your reply. Actually, having read the commentaries on this forum and checking a few cases on the spreadsheet, I realized employment-based cases, like my EB2, take way more time to have an interview scheduled than family-based cases. Anyway, hoping everybody may have good news soon.

  7. Hi guys, I am new in this forum. I had my EB2 NIW case approved on Sep 7, sent documents to NVC and on Nov 29th I received an email from them saying "the applicant is now in the queue awaiting an interview appointment overseas". I believe that is what you guys have been calling here CC, right? Anyways, I got two questions if anyone might clarify that I truly would appreciate it:

1 - I applied for a J1 waiver and it has already been approved on Dec 19th according to the USCIS website but I am still waiting for this waiver to arrive in my mailbox. Since the postal service in my country really sucks, I was wondering if I could just print out the USCIS system website page and take it to the interview in case they schedule it and it hasn't arrived yet.

2 - Also, is there anybody here from Brazil that might share with me how long it took to have your interview scheduled in Rio?

Thanks in advance and good luck to everyone!

  9. Hey guys, USCIS has approved my case. Now I'll be waiting to get it in my mailbox, which should take a while since I'm in Brazil. I'm attaching my USCIS timeline in case you wanna check it out.

Overall, I'm positively impressed by how quickly it was once it arrived in Vermont. Hoping everybody will hear good news soon as well.

This forum has helped me a lot and I can't thank you guys enough. I'll be glad to help with any questions I might answer. Wishing a great holidays season to Y'all folks. Good luck! 1290594032_ScreenShot2018-12-20at10_59_04AM.png.7e6efe2ddb5d4997aeba683535857ba6.png

  10. Hi guys, I am waiting for both NOA and I-797 to arrive at my mailbox.

The problem is that I need the final waiver ASAP but I am abroad (Brazil) and the postal service here sucks (takes months to arrive here). Am I allowed to change my address on USCIS using a friend's home so he might send it to me when it arrives there using a better service?

Have anybody already tried something like that or do you guys think it'd break any law and put me in trouble? Any tips are highly appreciated.

I donot understand, I submitted two envelopes and both will be used by USCIS ? In that case, DOS will use their own envelope to send the recommendation?

I did not get to this step in the waiver process yet. I just got one email from DoS with a digitalized copy of my favorable recommendation and they mentioned it was forwarded electronically to USCIS Vermont. That's why I thought we were supposed to get only envelopes from USCIS. Not sure about that though. Maybe someone else who has been already through the whole process of getting the waiver might help you out better clarifying this.

    Hello Friends,

While submitting the DS-3035 I sent two self addressed envelopes, can someone please tell me what will be they used for, I understand one will be used by DOS to send the recommendation, what is the the purpose of second envelope ?

    Here is my timeline:

    Snip20181127_1.png

Yeah, you are correct. The first envelope should be used to send the I797c (Note of action) from USCIS when they get the recommendation. The second one USCIS should use to send your second Note of Action, which hopefully will be your final waiver.

I understand the feeling. They are very disorganized and sometimes things just disappear. But, if it makes you feel better, we are not the first ones waiting longer for the notice of action. I can let you know as soon as I receive the mail. The other thing that you can do is to call USCIS and ask for the receipt number.

My favorable recommendation was sent to USCIS Vermont on November 28th. I called them yesterday and nobody was able to pull out information about my USCIS receipt number. Did calling USCIS actually work for you to get a receipt number? You guys are in the US and did not get the notice yet. So once I am abroad (Brazil) I am expecting my NOA to take a month or longer to arrive here :( It really concerns me because I need the waiver ASAP

    Hello,

I sent my J1 waiver application by mail on 11/16 and it just got the received status on the website. The funny part is that the embassy of my home country (Brazil) sent the NOS also on 11/16, however it seems that they haven't received yet. Should I be worried?

    Thanks

    B

DoS should take a week or two to acknowledge the receipt of NOS. After this time, you might consider inquiring them about it or asking the Brazilian Embassy to send it again. Good luck!

Hi! Before I got the waiver itself I had received a Notice of Action (Form I-797C) which contained the receipt number for my case.

    Hi @Moraesm

I was just wondering how long it took for you to get your Notice of Action (Form I-797C) by mail. According to your older posts, you were in Brazil, right? I believe they sent it in your self-addressed envelope, right? I used the Coupon Réponse Modelo Istambul from correios. Did you use the same service? I am also in Brazil and just would like to have some idea about how long it should take, since my recommendation was sent to USCIS on Nov 28. Thanks in advance.

Oh I see, you've been a great help to me. Thank you!! Mine was also generated in a packet PDF form. I sent an email to the address you gave me but if it's not too much to ask, could you post a picture/ copy of your timeline?

Absolutely. Glad to know I helped you somehow. Please find my timeline attached. I hope you may hear good news soon!

Really?I didn't know they would contact me. I thought since everyone had statement of reason on the list as well, I thought I had to send one as well. Thank you!!

Hey buddy, when I responded you yesterday I was in a rush on my way back home. Sorry but I messed the things up. Actually, I thought you were talking about the No Objection Statement but indeed now I saw you do not have the Statement of Reason in your timeline. I do believe you have to send it to DoS but unfortunately, I do not know how. Mine was included automatically when I was filling the online forms of my J1 waiver and it was generated as the 8th page of the App_Packet.pdf (a file automatically created when I finished the form). I believe you should email 212ewaiver@state.gov asking for clarification. Do not forget to include your case number, applicant's name, DOB and POB as well as the waiver basis (i.e. no objection). Good luck!!!

Thanks for taking the time to help me out but what I meant if I have to send a statement of reason in addition to the DS 2035 form that I sent to DOS. I've seen other people have it but I'm not sure if it goes for me too

    Screenshot_20181203-170424__01.jpg

Gotcha! Sorry for the misunderstanding. Now that I checked your timeline it seems just fine for me. I don’t think you need to send anything else. Unless DoS ask you to do so. Good luck!

    Hey

I'm confused and I would like some help. I sent all my documents to dos ( well atleast I thought I did) and after reviewing several forums I realised I didnt send a statement of reason. I figured because I ended up writing one already in the DS-2035 I thought that was it.

    1. Do I need to write one?

    2. If so, how do I send it? Do I need to do anything special?

    PS From Jamaica

    Hi Adrian,

Actually, you need to look for more information on your consulate's website.

I am from Brazil, and after filling out a couple of forms they actually sent mine for free directly from the Brazilian Consulate in Washington DC to DoS via email. Nonetheless, you are from Jamaica and I did a quick search and found out your requirements are quite different.

Please check out this website from your consulate in Miami (http://www.jamaicacgmiami.org/page/no-objection-statement/) and if you need more information contact them to clear things up.

Indeed your case will only be activated along DoS and start being processed after your consulate sends the No Objection Statement to the DoS.

    Best of luck my brother!!!

Guys, My case is currently under deliberation at DOS, if someone can tell me when the DOS forwards the case to USCIS how will I get to know my receipt number ? Along with waiver application I submitted two self addressed envelopes one will be used by DOS to share the recommendation and other will be used by USCIS to share the I-797 (I guess). If the USCIS sends the notice of receipt will they use the address indicated o these envelopes ?

Yes, USCIS will the same address!

  21. Hi folks, just updating my case. I had sent an email to DoS a while ago and they told me a recommendation had been sent to USCIS on Oct 11th. It looked quite suspicious because this date was one day after they got my documents and the case was not updated in the J1 waiver website. Furthermore, I called USCIS one hundred times and nobody could tell me anything about my case. Thus, I sent another email to DoS, which they did not respond so far, but right now I checked my status and realized they sent my favorable recommendation just yesterday.

Quick question for the people who already step into the USCIS stage. Do they send an email to us regarding the receipt number? Or am I supposed to wait and get it via mail? Just wondering because I am in Brazil and it must take forever to arrive here in my mail.

    Thanks in advance!
