  1. I have a question about an item in the packet 3 info that nannygirl82 posted this past Wednesday. I am divorced. Does the embassy require a certified copy of that marriage certificate in addition to the certified divorce decree? Why would they need both? Do I need to get back up to the courthouse for a certified marriage certificate?

hhhmmm i am not sure...i know some people on here have been divorced as well so i am sure they can give you a better answer...but i would think they would just need the divorce decree to make sure it is over so you can marry again....but again i am not sure...maybe ask in the K-1 section someone might know there as well

I remember someone saying the previous marrage cert is required at the KNG Embassy (I think it was Texas Bound or maybe not). I'm not completely sure try doing a search on this thread. I dont' think the other K1 forum would help you at this point since you're dealing w/the Embassy. Every Consulate has different standards and requirements.

i did some searching and it looks like other embassys required both...so i would say it is safe then to be sorry and i would take both just incase they ask for it!!!! and i am sure if you post this in either the k-1 section or the embassy section other people would say the same!

Thank you for searching. I knew I would have to come up with this document. The visa journey is an endless paper trail. I am willing to go through this and much more to have my fiancee here with me. Over preparing is a good rule to follow before an interview.

  2. Donna and I were approved by CSC last Wednesday. I received the NOA-2 in the mail Saturday. I am now trying to determine what to do next. I considered filling out the DS-230. I went to the US Embassy Kingston website (http://kingston.usembassy.gov/non-immigrant_visas.html) to make an appointment. They require that a Form DS-156 Nonimmigrant Visa Application be filled out electronically. The site does not mention Form DS-230. Should I make an appointment through this web site? I am a little confused and want to be finished with all this. Please help with any information that may be useful to expedite getting an interview in Kingston.

Thank you for the response. I was on the Yardie thread when I posted the question. How do I get my questions back over there? I am not sure now it posted here.

I met Donna through a friend from my church. This friend is from Jamaica. My friend's husband is Porte Rican who was born in the US.

I had been divorced. Will I need certified copies of my divorce degree or just Xerox copies during the interview? I plan on going to the interview with Donna.

Best of luck to you and your husband.

  4. I hope I am at the right place. Most of the USC here are women. Donna and I are waiting approval of our K-1 Petition that is at CSC right now. What things can be done now to prepare for the Interview?

    1. Is a Certificate of No-Impediment required by the Kingston Embassy?

    2. Can Donna go ahead and get the police report? I read somewhere that it can take 21 days to get.

    Thank you for any advice.

I'll try to answer these (when we filed some of this info wasn't needed)

    1. Certificate of No Impediment is mandatory

    2. Yes - get the police report ahead of time - it is good for either six months or one year (sorry, I'm a bit blank on that one). With an extra fee the report can be ready within three days.

I would wait until NOA2 is received before getting police report - you can call and confirm when Kingston embassy receives your info as well.

    Good luck!

  6. I intend to send in my I-129F Petition this week. Line 9. Names of Prior Spouses, would you put the current last name of an ex-wife, their remarried name, or their name as it appears on the divorce Final Judgment and Decree, which would be my last name? I also have an ex-wife who went back to her children's last name. Do I put her down with her current last name?

  7. While in Jamaica last week my fiancee filled out and signed the four copies of the G-325A. I have now learned from a friend that each sheet is to be printed on different color of paper (white, green, pink and blue). I am ready to submitt the I-129F and not sure now if the white signed copies will be accepted? Do I need to reprint the G-325A on the colored paper and sent it down to Jamaica to be signed by my fiancee?
