  1. MyDestiny- Thanks...for the response. My fiance is stressing out. He has tried to call them this morning and the phone lines are tied up. So he's calling me complain about how the call isn't going through. Not to mention that he still has not received Packet 3. So I will be calling the embassy today...and begging them to please let him pick them up. Packet 4 was sent out on the 27th but he hasn't received it.

If you getting married at the justice of peace, does a witness need to come along?

Donna's Certificate of No Impediment took about one and one half weeks to come through the mail to her house (Spanish Town to Kingston).

  2. I was just given our interview date today by the embassy. It is set for August 14th. I'm so happy to get this. It's been about 6 months now. Just 6 more weeks to go!

    Congrats!

How did you get the interview date?

Marlon scanned his packet 3 and emailed it to me today.

The move went well and I started my Stats class today, the teacher is fun and motivated!

I called the embassy. The lady I talked with was friendly and very helpful. We have not received our packet 3. I got an appointment date for Donna to go by and pick it up next week. She will also be able to pick up the appointment letter for the medical. You have one more hour left to call the embassy. Let us know when you get your interview date.

  3. If megaphone lets us down...then I'll give noblecom a try.

I signed up with nobecom calling card service. I could not find on the site where to go to see my calling history, which I would like to have for the interview. I emailed nobelcom. This is part of their reply:

"Unfortunately, we do not currently offer call records, either printed or online.

Due to the privacy laws governing unlisted telephone numbers, customer

service is not able to release complete phone numbers from the detailed

records of a prepaid phone card account.

We can, however, provide limited information. If you have specific

questions regarding one call, you may call the customer service number

listed with your order. On a limited basis, a representative can tell you

the date, time, duration of call, originating area code and destination

    area code only.

For additional call detail information, or multiple phone calls per

record, you may send us a notarized letter or go to your local law

enforcement office to apply for a subpoena. Law enforcement officers or your

legal counsel can contact us for instructions on where to submit the

    subpoena."

This is a lot to go through just for calling records that other companys give access to with their accounts. I will not be recharging my card with nobelcom after I use the last few minutes that are left.

  4. jay: doesn't DHL have some tracking info on that? if i were you i'd be finding out who signed for it at the embassy.

Donna gave me the DHL tracking number last night. The Part 1 was delivered the same day to the embassy. I have the name of the person who signed for it. I do not think this information will help when I call Monday. May we both get early interview dates.

  5. I called the embassy today. My DS230 Part 1 is still not in the system there. Donna sent it by way of DHL from her work there in Kingston last Tuesday the 11th. Is there a way to find out if the package arrived at the embassy? I'm I too anxious and not allowed enough time for them to record the form? I think I would feel better if I knew for sure the embassy had the part 1.

  6. I told you guys.........3UTelecom........17 cents a minute. No monthly fees, connection fees, whatever.....And, they charge you to the second instead of rouding up to the minute every call. We've had it now for nearly 2 years. Best thing I ever did.

I listened and signed up. I have been pleased with the service. On week-ends when I can't get through using Tel3Advantage, I use 3UTelecom. The calls go straight through with this service. I, also like being able to have 3UTelecom on my land-line phone service as the long distance carrier. Donna is able to call me from Jamaica using the "travel card" that comes with the service.

  7. hey sara, how did you get the embassy email you? i've emailed them twice with questions and they've never responded. did you email them with an inquiry for marlon's interview date?

I just sent an email to kkholiday2006. My emails are written is such a manner as to come across as professional sounding. I start them out Dear Sir or Madam, I am inquiring as to... At the end of my email I say something like thank you for your prompt attention to this matter, sincerely... Maybe that helps? And this is the email address I use

    kingstonivinfo@state.gov

They always respond to all of my emails.

You can also use, consularkingst@state.gov..send all ur correspondence to both addresses I did I got replies in a timely manner

Thanks...I tried this route. I hope they have not given out all of the August appointments.

How often would you email the embassy between emails if they don't respond to the previous email?

  8. FYI:

US Embassy warns against fraudulent visa appointments

    published: Thursday | June 14, 2007

The United States Embassy in St. Andrew says it is investigating the attempted manipulation of its online non-immigrant visa appointment system.

In a statement yesterday, the embassy said it was also warning the Jamaican public to avoid dealing with persons offering to procure early visa appointments.

"All applicants for U.S. visitor visas are required to give their full name, passport number and Paymaster receipt number to reserve a visa appointment," the embassy said. "A growing number of appointments made on the embassy's online system contain fictitious information and have been made simply to hold a place in our interview schedule."

    Fictitious appointments

The embassy added: "These fictitious appointments cause problems for everyone, especially by adding to the waiting time for legitimate travellers from Jamaica to secure a timely appointment."

The embassy said persons found to be tampering with the appointment database and/or filing fraudulent appointments will be reported to the Jamaican authorities for possible criminal prosecution.

Also, according to the statement, persons entering the U.S. Embassy with falsified appointment letters will be denied visas and may be subject to permanent visa ineligibility.

All applicants or honest, reliable persons acting on their behalf should schedule visa appointments online at: https://evisaforms.state.gov/default. asp?postcode=KNG&appcode=3

This is an electronic calendar that will show available dates and times.

Applicants should avoid people or businesses that claim to be able to schedule expedited appointments. There is no charge for scheduling visa interview appointments (including emergency appointments) on the embassy's electronic calendar.

If you believe that a travel agent or individual is providing questionable services, please inform the embassy at kingstonvisas@state.gov so that we can act to prevent other applicants from being charged high fees for fraudulent services.

The embassy is also urging applicants who change their appointments to remember to delete their previous dates to allow the other slots to be made available for other applicants.

Any individual who reserves more than one date at the same time invites having one or both of the appointments deleted.

Is it necessary to set an appointment date here, https://evisaforms.state.gov? The DS-230 part 1 was sent in to the embassy. I thought after they received the DS-230 an appointment would be set up? Do I need to fill out the DS-156 now and get an appointment or wait and get an appointment when I call the embassy?

  9. futuremrs, you might want to hold off on the courier service. i just used the number that jengles provided. i got an appointment for my fiance to drop off the ds-230 next week. she told me not to use the courier service and i was really surprised that we got an appointment so quick. she said that he'll probably end up with an august interview date. i'm praying that it'll be within the first 2 weeks so that i can still go with him.

here's what we're going to do:

    1. fiance goes to embassy next week to drop off ds-230 and pick up packet (it contains the medical info too)

    2. i will start calling in about a week to see if an interview date is set

    3. fiance will go back to the embassy to pick up the interview letter (since we don't want to wait on the mail and we must have the letter in order to get into the embassy for the actual interview)

Picking up the packet at the embassy is a good idea. Donna told me last night that in Kingston the mail is not delivered on rainy days. I was thinking the packet would be delivered in a few days, but with all the rain they've had, who knows when it will get to Donna.

  10. What is the current address for the US embassy in Kingston? The address in my letter from the State Department is different from the address on their web site.

    Isn't this the new address?

    U.S. Embassy Kingston, Jamaica,

    Consular Services

    142 Old Hope Road,

    Kingston 6,

    Jamaica,

    W.I.

The letter states that the case will be processed at:

    Kingston

    Embassy of the United States

Jamaica Mutual Life Center, 2 Oxford Road 3rd Fl

    Kingston 5,

    Jamaica

Is this the address to sent in the DS-230?

  11. I also called the embassy today. The lady told me as soon as they get the DS-230 we will get an interview date. She also mentioned that it would be in August. We are still going to have a courier take the part 1 to the embassy tomorrow. She told me that the packet was mailed out today to Donna. They received 6 packets today.

where in jamaica does your fiancee live? since my fiance lives so far away it'll be much better for him to pick up his packet and drop off the ds-230 at the same time. we don't want to wait 3 months for a packet to arrive in the mail.

Donna lives there in Kingston. She works about 60 hours a week, so it's hard for to get away from work to go to the embassy.

  13. So does anyone know how I can check to see if a packets has been sent from the NVC to Kingston? I know somewhere they were saying look on the DHL website. Any thoughts?

Just call them, I did and they sent me a status letter, even though they told me over the phone it was sent

I just got off the phone with NVC. The lady told me that my packet was received yesterday. She told me that they would mail out a letter when the packet is sent on to Kingston. She also told me that it would be two to four weeks before it would be sent out to Kingston. Should I expect to wait a couple of weeks before my packet leaves the NVC?

  14. I am getting anxious. My case should arrive at the NVS this week. Is there something that I should be doing now? Can I go ahead and send in the DS-230 part 1 to the embassy? Do I need to wait for a NVS case number first?

Donna lives in Kingston. Would I get our interview date sooner by calling for an appointment to have Donna drop off the DS-230 or having a courier deliver it? From what I’m reading having a courier deliver the paper is the best option. Things do move a little faster at this stage.

  15. It really all depends on what is happening there at this time. Looks to me like appointments are at least a couple of months in advance right now, if not longer. Plus, there are still some things for you to do in the meantime that will determine how fast you get an appointment.

I feel really sorry for you guys right now. Ours went so much faster last year.

What are some of the things I need to be doing now to speed up our appointment date? I know that having the DS-230 part 1 ready to turn in when packet 3 is picked up will save a few days. Thank you Jomo's girl for staying back to help.

  16. Hi Guys!! Hope all is well with everyone. Nothing new to report on this end. Roy is <finally, finally, finally> working full-time and loving every minute of it -- Mee too!! :energetic:

Anna -- <Thankfully> we never really send any $$$ down to Roy's family. In the past year I think we have only done it a few times. Saturday I sent $50.00 to his sister (Western Union) and the Currency Exchange charged me $11.00 Service Fee (I am used to sending in higher increments to Roy - then the Service Fee didn't really hurt as much). I know you and Javon have a bank account set up in JA for this. Can you please tell me how you do it? What bank it is and how YOU deposit money into the account.

It just might be worth it to do it this way.....

Xoom.com has $3.99 money transfers to Jamaica. Also, free Washington Mutual checking accounts have free money transfers into certain Jamaican banks.

  17. I have a question about an item in the packet 3 info that nannygirl82 posted this past Wednesday. I am divorced. Does the embassy require a certified copy of that marriage certificate in addition to the certified divorce decree? Why would they need both? Do I need to get back up to the courthouse for a certified marriage certificate?

I didn't need a certified copy of my marriage certificate. I didn't turn in a copy of the marriage certificate. Just the certified copy of the divorce decree. It's pretty obvious you were married by then.

It seems that when dealing with the government that logic does not come into play. Because the packet 3 asks for a certified marriage certificate I ordered mine through usavital.com for $56. I did not want to take off work and drive into downtown Atlanta to get a copy.

Does anyone have a good estimate of days between when Kingston gets the paperwork and the interview? Our paperwork should arrive down there the first of next week. Donna needs to know because of her work. She will need to train someone in order to take her two weeks vacation. She wants to schedule her vacation just before the interivew.
