Hey guys! I’ll have my interview tomorrow In Queens, NY and I’m adjusting from K1 (filed on July 17, 2019). Any K1’s here who already had their interview? What questions were you asked? Thanks in advance!

Hello!
Could anyone please share their aos experiences in QUEENS office in federal plaza? Especially adjusting from K1. I’m having my interview next week and a little anxious. Any experience would be appreciated! Have a nice day
It’s been a while, but I was searching the forum because I’ll have my interview in Queens tomorrow. I’m adjusting from K1 too. How did your interview go? Do you remember any questions? 🙈

"Case is ready to be scheduled for An Interview" status could last for 2 months or more. It's just an indication that your case was reviewed and they found it to be complete and no required initial evidence is missing. Hence, you are placed on queue until your status changes to " Interview was scheduled" . So grab your pop corn and enjoy the long show
Thanks! I know, but Queens, NY (the actual times) is at about 4-4.5 months (I talked to other recent Queens filers) and it takes about 1 month and 1 week from the online notice to the actual interview. That’s why I’m expecting the update. Also, I didn’t get any RFE. Been waiting for 3 months and 1 week. 🙂 They got their “interview was scheduled” 1.5 months max after ready to be scheduled. 🙂

We received ours on a Friday night at 1am lol
Cool, thanks! And good luck!

Did anyone here receive the notice “interview was scheduled” on a weekend or at night? Are all updates automatic updates and can happen during any time of the day/week? My case has been ready to be scheduled since 09/25 and I’m checking my status like crazy (although my app will update me 😂) because I should receive my interview date any day now. 🤞🏻

Apparently the interview is done separately in Indiana. Some people say they would do it in Boston, MA all the time too, but it’s just what I heard. I myself are in Queens, NY.
Anyways, I think we all should consider the fact that we can be interviewed separately, although our marriages are more than real. It can happen to anyone at any time. Wish everyone here the best! 🙂

Interesting. Do you remember if it's one of the more populated states, which could mean more people would be impacted?

Separating couples is done based more so on red flags in the application or the interview, rather than the states.
I know that it’s more based on red flags, but apparently there’s one state (don’t remember) that does it all the time. Even with K1 couples.

My interview has been scheduled and I am expecting the letter this week. Are they just interviewing me or does my husband (the US citizen) get interviewed as well?
Congrats! Your husband might get some questions too. I heard in some states they separate the couple from the beginning on, but normal is together and most questions are for the beneficiary.

Yes sorry I meant Manhattan, Queens is pretty fast so you should be getting your "Interview Scheduled" update soon. I hope they transfer my file to Queens after they are done with yours
Best of luck to you and keep us updated!
Thanks, I will! 😁 I’m 2.5 months into the process now. Hope for “Interview was Scheduled” within the next couple of weeks! You keep us updated too, keeping my fingers crossed for a quick process for everyone! 🤞🏻😊

I'm in NYC and it takes 12+ months to schedule an interview here
Hey, you mean you’re in Manhattan? I’m in Queens, waiting for my interview to be scheduled (“case is ready to be scheduled” since Sept 25). Hope your wait is not too long. They move some applications between field offices.

Hey! Anybody here who filed AOS from K1 in Queens, NY? Where in the process are you?

Thanks for your reply. It actually happened this year. Maybe it was because they filed before May 15th, 2018?! Anyways, good luck to you for the rest if your journey!

Hi guys,
I've been wondering about this question for a while now. I heard that some people got their GC after adjusting from K1 without an interview. I'm just curious how that works. I understand that this could be a case by case scenario. Usually you don't send any proof with your I-485 except of your marriage certificate. What would happen if you send proof along with your I-485 and Affidavit of Support I-864? Would they reject it or would they just don't care?
Thanks in advance!

Our case didn’t update everyday, but it did update frequently. Usually we noticed that when it updated something would happen with out case right after or soon there after. Ex. Case was updated on the 31st and we got out email to request for an interview and then it updated again Feb 1 and we got the request approved to book the interview. My timeline is pretty similar to yours if you want to look at dates for Frankfurt!
Thanks for your response! I saw that it took people in Germany always about a week to receive packet 3 but for the second last batch it was two weeks. I hoped to be at one week again but I guess that’s not gonna happen. 😉 I just keep my fingers crossed that it comes in soon! Good luck for your interview! 😊

Oh ok, thanks! Never heard of AP in that stage though. 🤔 However, I hope I get the packet soon!!

Mine updated to 'ready' and then no more updates after that. My interview was booked today.
Thanks! Maybe it's a German thing... 😒 Good luck to you! 🙂

Hi, did any of your cases update every day while it says "ready"? Did you receive packet 3 anyway or did it stop updating and then you received packet 3?

Hi, I have a problem with my DS-160... When I want to fill in my previous employers for the past 5 years it only lets me put in two... I can’t add another one. Has anyone else had this problem? Also, sometimes it doesn’t even show me the „previous employer“ page and switches directly to „the countries I have visited within the past 5 years“. Hope to get it done soon. I‘m waiting on packet 3.

It went well! We even waited a half hour only until the interview (20 mins later than our appointment), although the waiting room was crowded when we came in. I was the third applicant (from the time we got there) that got called in. She approved me verbally and one hour later my status changed to “new card is being produced”.
Some questions were directed to my husband (US Citizen), some were directed to me and some to both of us (adjusting from K1).
- Where does your husband work?
- Did you meet his mother for the first time after you entered on your K1 visa? (We talked about that because his mom organized a bridal shower for me and our IO really liked the cake on the picture, but I’ve met his parents countless times)
- Did you go on more trips since your entry with the K1 visa
- Who came to the wedding from overseas? (After he answered I mentioned that we’ll have a big wedding in April 2020 where my whole family and friends come)
- Does your wife work? (I haven’t worked because I didn’t have a work permit)
- Did you visit your wife after you met? (We met in the USA)
- How is your wife adjusting?
- How did you meet? (I told her the story)
- Do you have roommates or is it just the two of you?
- Do you have children?
The IO also went through the whole AOS application and asked the yes and no questions.
Every one was very friendly!
