  1. My SO doesn't have a birth certificate because his birth was never registered. He has a "Declaration of Age" document that's sort of like an affidavit that he got at the courthouse.

Is this going to be a problem? I know in other countries you can go and get some sort of certificate. Can this be done in Nigeria and is it necessary?

  2. I have a question. Maybe it's a dumb question, but oh well. In regards to the police clearance, does the certificate cover ALL of Nigeria or does he have to get one from the local police in every town he has lived in? Anyone know? I'm sure my SO isn't the only one who has lived in different towns in Nigeria.

    Thanks!!!

  3. I called NVC tonight and was told it may take 3-4 weeks for them to receive the case and may be up to 90 days....come on now! 90 days? I asked if any day of the week was better than another to call and was told they can't know when cases will be received...so more of the sos....What I find amazing is that some approved from CSC in mid March still haven't been sent to NVC and some from early April have been received and sent to consulates already.....I see no logic to the whole situation!

There is no logic - it's the government!!! I know it's hard to wait. But on my NOA2 it stated to call NVC if it had been more than 4 weeks and I had not received notification of shipment overseas. That didn't help. All NVC would tell me is that it could take up to 90 days.

Once it's been 4 weeks, start calling California. Use TBone's RFE trick that gets you to a CO. I reposted it on this thread. I believe it's on page 4. I would agree with others that it is a good idea to get your congressman or senator involved. If it's been 4 weeks and isn't on it's way overseas, contact your representative. 90 days is rediculous!!!

  4. Once I got my Noa2 it took 3 weeks to get out of CSC hell and on to NVC and some are still waiting. But it flew through NVC and I am currently tracking a package I think is my paperwork on it's way to Nigeria.

i hope it is ur paperwork ur tracking.......wow three weeks huh.........i wish u good luck and a fast interview date u have been waiting a while............ :)

    Thanks

I am fairly certain I have the right one. And a couple slightly larger ones caught up to it in Belgium. They are all at a DHL center in Lagos. So they should reach the embassy Monday.

Hope when you get approved you catch the NVC pallet right away. You have waited so long you are going to be the CSC equivilant of a Walmart greeter soon. But you will so much happier with NVC people they are pleasant to you.

LOL!!!!!!! I was just at Walmart last night and the greeter at this one just cracks me up. You walk in and hear this big BOOMING voice say Welllllllllllllllllllcome to Walmarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrt.

How do you know when DHL has your package? How do you track it?

  5. It's so frustrating when you get three different answers. I also had someone tell me that my petition was sent to NVC on March 24. That is totally untrue because that was more than 4 weeks ago.

If it was shipped on April 23, it won't get to the NVC by Friday. Mine was supposedly shipped on April 21 and I called last night and NVC doesn't have it yet. I'm under the impression that they send them via TRUCK, so it will take 3-4 days to get from CSC to NVC and then who knows how long for them to put it into their system.

But that doesn't stop me from calling every other day

  6. Well the NVC people seem so much nicer than CSC people. I asked when they gave me a csae number this morning and they said it should be shipped off to the embassy in 2-4 weeks. It is nice to see a flash of progress again after those months of dust collecting at CSC

That's good. Most of the NVC people are nicer than most of the CSC people. But I DID get a nice lady at CSC today and one of the NVC people was quite rude to me.

It SHOULD ship off to the embassy in LESS than 2-4 weeks. Unless you get stuck in an additional name check, it should be more like 2-4 DAYS!!!

  7. I love pizza. There's one at Nick n' Willy's that has olive oil instead of tomato sauce and it has spinach, marinated aritchoke hearts, tomatoes and feta cheese. I love it.

If I'm eating pizza anywhere else, I like pepperoni, black olives and fresh tomatoes.

  8. I also got email this morning about my case. So if you were in the box that was sent last week you should be in NVC's system today.:thumbs::thumbs:

I'm happy that yours is at the NVC. I just called them again this morning. Mine's not there yet. They keep telling me it can take up to 90 days. What's up with that? I could WALK it there faster. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Totally not fair ... You filed before me and should be lighting the path for me. Maybe they are just waiting for a big guy to pick up your file to scan it . All 10 pounds of it

Tee hee hee :P It was actully 12 pounds and therefore should take up MORE room in the shipping crate, allowing for those behind me to get shipped slightly faster (or not . . . . ).

Oh well, that's life and it's NEVER fair. I'm just glad that I finally found someone who could tell me where my file was (I was just sure that they were out of cubicles and so they put a tablecloth over my GIGANTIC file and someone was using it as a desk).

So, then I called and used TBone's RFE trick. Call 1-800-375-5283. Hit 1, 2, 2, 4, 2, 1. Enter your receipt number. Then hit 1, 1. You should get an actual person at CSC who can look and tell you EXACTLY where your file is. I spoke to a REALLY nice lady (but I can't remember her name).

I told her my NOA2 date was March 24, 2008. On the NOA2 is says "If it has been more than four weeks since you received this approval notice and you HAVE NOT received notification from NVC that you petition has been FORWARDED OVERSEAS, please call the NVC at (603) 334-0700"

I told her I called them and they told me they didn't have it yet. So it must still be in California. She said she would look and put me on hold for a minute.

When she got back on the line she said once the NOA2 is issued, the cases go to an "NVC staging area" to await shipment. Mine left the staging area yesterday which means that it is on its way to the NVC. It left on April 21, 2008.

Great news. Do you know what the hours are for that phone line? I want to make sure I'm calling during the right times.

I'm not sure what time they open. But I DO know that I called yesterday at about 4:30pm California time and they were closed. My guess is to call between 9:00am and 4:00pm to be safe.

    GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!

  9. Okay, so I called CSC and pushed all the "appropriate" buttons for an approved petition. You just get a customer service rep who isn't even in California and they CAN'T even tell you where the file is. The guy even told me that if I was approved on March 24, 2008 then that's when it was shipped. Yeah, right.

If you call this number and get someone who won't go look, just try back later. I'm hoping that all of you with March approvals are on the truck with me!!!!!!!!

  10. I just called the NVC and still have no record of the case. It is a month this week since approval. Next, I will call the CSC when they open up; they are still sleeping, although, that's an oxmoron as they are ALWAYS sleeping!!!!

Ok, I called CSC and was told that my case was sent to NVC on April 17th. So, with better luck, alot of us should be receiving NVC case numbers this week, ofcourse, assuming that transport between source and destination is by automobile. If it is by pony, well, stay tuned a bit longer.

Yeah, what number did you call at CSC? It's been 4 weeks since NOA2 for me and NVC still doesn't have our case!!! Pony express could have gotten it there faster :P

  11. I am truly heartbroken to hear this discouraging news. But, if anyone can be positive it's you!!! I know that it means more time apart, but you can get through this. I will be praying that your waiver does quickly and is granted. My heart is with you!!! (L)
