<<do i have to take an appointment with lister's lab or physician ?>>
No appointment at the lab necessary. Only call the doctor and make an appointment.
I think it is OK if you take the first flight to Chennai, you will have enough time to get the lab work done, pick it up and go to the doctor. Only contact the doctor before and explain you have to catch a flight back to Hyderabad. He should accommodate you and see you first in the evening. My fiance said there were a few of them waiting outside in the evening, it took some time before the doctor finally opened the door.
awesome, so i can plan it in one day
thanks a lot

Hello! I had submitted a review in "Embassy Info/India/Chennai" section, see other details there!
<<how much it's gonna cost ?>>
Rs 800 lab tests, Rs 700 doctor's fees. My guy had MMR and Varicella vaccinations totaling an additional Rs 1,500. BUT we JUST NOW found out that the MMR and Varicella requires a SECOND dose (a few weeks after first dose). Try to get that in India because here it is expensive (Varicella is $105 at local cheap govt clinic!). Now he has to get the second doses here in USA before we can file for AOS!
<<when do you suggest me to travel chennai for medical ?>>
To be safe, why not at least 3 days before you have to submit papers to VFS.
<<do i have to submit medical reports as well at VFS office with my packet 3/4 ?>>
Better if you do, YES! But in case you can't, you can submit with the interview.
<<how many days does it take for the medical examination including the lister lab's report and physicians report?>>
That took only one day for my guy, morning lab tests, evening receiving lab results and going to Dr. Sanjan John. The doc visit took only about an hour (including waiting) and doc handed over all paperwork to my guy UNSEALED (so copies could be made of all). I don't know if other docs give the paperwork in hand immediately, they may mail direct to the Consulate. Only problem was that this doc refused to give vaccinations or fill out the vaccination suppliment, he said no vaccinations should be given for K1 applicants! However you can get the vaccinations at any local doc I think, to be used for AOS here. Just get the documentation that you had it done.
<<any particular physician close to lister laboratory ?>>
Our doc Sanjan John is only about 10 min from the lab. The other docs listed in Chennai packet are also near the lab.
thanks a bunch for the info.
do i have to take an appointment with lister's lab or physician ?
do you think it is okay, if i plan to fly on 2nd july, first flight to chennai at 5.50am in the morning from hyderabad , visit the lister's lab by 8am , collect reports by 4.30 pm , visit the physician by 5:30-6:00pm ,and take the return flight ticket same day ? (assuming that the medical examination finishes by 7:00pm same day )

I am also waiting for my physical file to be recieved at chennai. How did you get to know the interview date? Did u call or e-mail them?
Thank you
Agnar:
This is a great news!!
Good thing is that you didn't have to wait for Packet 3 to schedule your interview. I am still waiting.
Been two months!!
ya , think it depends on the consulate always, compared to other consulates chennai always have few K1 & K3 visas not more than 10-20 in each category and hardly they interview 25 applicants per day.

I think its also a question of who determines the "legit" folks in the system. There is so much fraud in India with marriage that the consulate seems to move at a slower pace than we'd like. You can't even get tourist visas anymore unless you are ultra rich or famous. I read a post here of someone who came on a B2 visitor visa from India and then was married within a month of getting here and then doing AOS!!! And then we wonder why they don't believe people when they say they are "just going to visit" from India. It just makes it harder for everyone else.
i dont agree with you , if you say that because of fraudulent cases , things are getting slower . And even i dont agree if some one says unless you are ultrarich or famous you will get a visa.
After reading so many other forums and come across with people who has beeen rejected a visa and , all i say is US visa processing for B1/B2 is purely a matter of chance . My fiancee friend's parents were denied a visa , last year , inspite of previous visits abiding to all visa regulations, inspite of showing crores of properties and business documents.
There is a news all over that when the visa officers are trained for that job, they are trained to use their gut feelings, face readings of the applicants from thier photos, in that short 10 minutes allotted for each applicant by the consulate.
I got a 2 year B1/B2 in 2005 after a grilling session of 12 minutes. My colleague whose turn was exactly after mine in the adjacent line , was interviewd for 2 minutes , 2 questions, 10yr multiple entry visa , applying for the same project form the same company we were working for. Can anyone beat it. There are thousands of such examples.
Fraud is universal , its with evry other nation . Please dont single out India.
My last question , how sensible do you think USCIS guys are to give an interview date to that person whom you mentioned above , entered on B2 and applied for AOS marrying withn in 30 days.
So its the USCIS that is mired in inefficiency , tell them to recruit more human personnel and expedite the process.
No hard feelings.

NVC has sent the electroninc file and physical file on 25th may to chennai consulate through DHL. When enquired on phone, chennai consulate responds that they have received only electronic file so far , but not the physical file.
I just cant believe DHL is so slooooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i remember the narrator (morgan freeman) in the movie Shawshank redemption saying that "prison time is slow".
i think "waiting time is slower" and "my case processing is slowest".
come on morons ( uscis & dhl & chennai consulate) move it faster

We asked her brother to DHL it from India, and then sent it to MoSC.
Uh, how did you deal with that RFE?The discrepancy between the dates on her passport and the G-325A were never questioned, nor was the issue of a birth-certificate raised at the Consulate (though it was raised, as RFE, when I submitted her AOS papers). My guy never did get his BC, he just had his caste certificate and an affidavit from his mother.
Pras' 10TH-Class cert (which had the wrong date on it) was the one used for her passport (the passport office had only wanted that, not her BC).
So incase i dont get an official birth certificate from the registrar of births of the locality i am from on time , can i use my CBSE X markssheet which has my date of birth but not the place of birth ?

My guy never did get his BC, he just had his caste certificate and an affidavit from his mother.
RFE was due to nonsubmission of primary evidence of relationship , my fiancee just sent engagement pics . As i always save my bills and important doucments , fortunatly all boarding passes, luggage tags , flight itineraries, credit card statement of Gray lines , SF payment and etc were preserved in my email inbox , which i retrieved and sent them to my fiancee . Thats how we dealt the RFE and finally out of USCIS jaws.
Now into the notorious chennai conulates hands, lets see how it goes.
Even ,I dont have a Birth Certificate but found a way from a legal advisor , and when enquired at our native home town , as far as the information we got , there are prety good chances that i can get a birth certificate , my dad left for home town today ,hope it works out.

The one headache that Pras DID have had to do with the police clearances--which resulted in her having to postpone the medical for after the interview; the CO gave her a "provisionally approved, pending receipt of medical", which meant she had to make a second trip to the consulate to deliver it.I entered the "wrong" date of birth for Pras (her actual; officially--as in on passport, etc--it is one year later) and it worked ok.glad that some one has finally responded
could you pls share your chennai consulate interview experience

then i have no reason to worry as of now...
thanks for input
today i filed a new application at Hyderabad passport ofice for change of address , renewal of passport , police clearance certificate for a sum of 1300 /- and was told to collect the new passport in person on 11th june.
i read somewhere that unless you show your interview letter they are gonna issue an PCC, but Hyderabad passport staff raised no objections and simply accepted one application form for 3 miscellaneous services
hopefully all goes well by 11th june.

I agree there is no problem, just enter the correct place of birth when you submit the papers to the Consulate.
Did you read all the Chennai interview reviews at the link at the top of this page? (Consulate/USCIS Reviews/India)
nice to hear from you again
may i know how long ddi nagaraju's immigration check took at JFk ?

In I-129F petition my fiancee has entered wrong place of birth , if i furnish my Packet 3 forms with the correct place of birth , then there is gonna be a mismatch in what we have filed in I-129F . Will the visa issuing consulate overlook this and accept the place of birth that reflects in my official birth certificate or wil they deny me a Visa
?
somebody have any clue about this?????
u must write the correct date of birth as of now n u can explain them the error when asked
sure this time i shall be careful while i fill the forms

Another JANUARY filer approved after a long wait
good luck to you all

At last , CSC has considered my petition and approved it
good luck to you all who are still waiting for NOA2
Congratulations! Good that your approval came through after the RFE you received.
Did you receive the paper NOA2 or e-mail? From what I'm seeing, there's a slowdown or glitch w/ the USCIS website, and they seem to be showing 'touches' but case status does not change. This last week many have found out they have been approved by calling customer service and through the menu inquiring about a "possible RFE" based on the 'touches' only to be told their petition is approved. That's how I just found out a few hours ago about our approved petitions....so I'm just wondering if you got an e-mail notification, or whether the paper NOA2 arrived in the mail?
It never ceases to amaze me how many different processes there are as evidenced by this forum. Some get e-mail notification, some only see 'touches' and are left to wonder, and some don't even see touches yet their petition is approved. Something is definitely screwy w/ the USCIS website.
Wishing you a speedy remainder 'journey'.

yep, USCIS website has some technical problems , so even i felt wierd when i heard from my fiance today morning that my NOA2 hard copy is received but the website doesnt say anything about the approval.
All i say is "WHATEVER" , its approved and its official . The NOA2 waiting game is over and done.
and congratulations to you too
Regarding packet 3/4 forms
in Asia: South
Posted · Edited by agnar
Hey guys ,
Am i supposed to fill only the forms sent (packet 3/4) by the consulate ?
Is it wrong if i download the same packet 3/4 forms from USCIS and fill electronically as they are PDF writable?
Do the forms sent by consulate have any special numbers assigned specific to my case ?
