Hey guys,
First of all let me thank the VJ community for information support through the processing phase to visa approval day.
-
here is some info..
intrv was at 9AM, she went inside at 8 AM
she came out at 1.10PM, 2.40 AM my time here
was fully tensed why the interview took that long..luckyly she called me @2.45AM and told the good news.
seems the interview lasted 1-2 mins, finally she was said u are approved, and they handed her the original documents(that were submitted at VFS) (shall update you what questions and documents she was asked in that 1-2 mins gap, i too dont know as of now)
seems she asked the officer if she can pick her passport in the evening, but he replied that once they "hand over to VFS, they dont have answer, so please talk to them"
there were lots of kids(K4?) and many elderly people, they were given first preference, and she was called at the very last min
slept at 3AM, couldnt talk to her because of traffic and sounds (and she was in a hurry to go to VFS office ), by the time i woke up, she was already in a train, lost signal..
thank you all for ur wishes and prayers....wish u all the best of luck in your interviews and future steps
congratulations for both of you

Hello all:
We got it!!!!!!!!!!
My husband's interview was successful today at chennai consulate.
Here is a brief summary of his interview process:
He had his medical on July9th at Dr. Sanjan John. Today, July12th, he went to the consulate at 8:00am. His interview was at 9:00am. He was able to go in early when he showed the yellow interview letter. Then, an Indian lady collected the draft, medical reports. After 2 hours or so, he was called for the interview. The questions are:
1. How did you meet each other?
2. When was the first time you met her?
3. Where does your father-in-law work?
4. My husband was in Russia for some time, so they asked why he was there, what did he do there?
5. What will u do after u goto USA?
6. Does your wife have any siblings? Is she younger or older? What is she doing?
7. When did your wife goto US initially?
After all these questions, the officer said, "everything looks good, you will get your passport and visa in courier within a week!!!"
And that was it. We were very stressed before the interview, but my husband said it was a breeze. They made him feel very comfortable.
Thank you everybody for your help with everything and Good luck to everybody.
congratulations

1) what exactly is the VFS role in K1 visa processing after packet 4 submission?
2) when the chennai consulate specifies in its website that DS-230 II is not required for K1 visa interview, why is it VFS morons insisting on that ? ( it is never mentioned in the interview letter nor packet 4 that K1 applicants need to submit
DS-230 II )
thanks in advance
agnar
1) VFS ROLE IS TO COLLECT BEFORE HAND 10-15 DAYS PRIOR TO THE INTERVIEW
THIS IS DONE SO THAT ALL THE INFO PROVIDED BY THE CANDIDATE CAN BE SCRUTINISED VERY
WELL BEFORE THE ACTUAL INTERVIEW .AFTER PACKET 4 SUBMISSION THESE DOCUMENTS IS
RECEIVED BY THE LOCAL EMBASSY N VERY THOROUGHLY REVEIWED BY THEM .
2) DS-230 PART -2 IS NOT AT ALL REQUIRED FOR K-1 AND K-3 , COZ THIS IS BASICALLY FOR CR-1
AND IR-1 VISAS SO AS TO TICK IF THE APPLICANT NEEDS THE SSN AND SSC AFTER HE/SHE
REACHES THE U.S,
HOWEVER IF THE VFS ASKS FOR IT , THE APPLICANT MUST SUBMIT IT , COZ IT IS ALWAYS SAID
IT IS BETTER TO BE OVERPREPARED THAN UNDERPREPARED .
IT WILL HARDLY TAKE 5 MINS TO FILL UP DS-230 FORM .
thnaks a bunch for the response...
i didnt submit ds-230 part II as my packet 4 never asked for it. Anyway i have filled a form and taking it to the interview personally.
good luck for your interview too
thanks agnar
well pls do keep us posted with the interview so that it helps a lot of countrymen too
lottsa wishes
sure , no prob
will update after my interview is done
best wishes

In that case, you can take train from Egmore to Nungambakkam rail-station and take bus from there.
gee thanks for the suggestion
will take care

agnar, here's a suggestion which may save you some Rs. at interview.
Book a room at the Ranjit Hotel (Nungambakkam High Rd., just about on Gemini Flyover). That is fairly close to the consulate, and you may be able to use "Maanagaara Paerndhu" busses (lots cheaper than the autorickshaw--and they don't fleece you) to go between the two.
thats was my idea too, but ranjit on nungambakkam rates are hitting the hilt , their room rents starts from 1450 Rs?- and above.
so i am planning to get down at Egmore , coz egmore railway station is sorrounded by a lot many hotels in 400-800 Rs/- range.
any suggestions are welcome.

Hey guys,
i'm posting my medical examination experience here
7:30 am - Reached Lister metropolis laboaratories , Nungambakkam , Chennai
7:50am - Paid 800Rs/-
7:55am - Blood sample taken
8:05am - Chest x-ray taken
8:15am - Left the laboratory
8:25am - Confirmed my evening appointment with Dr.Sanjan John , Chetpet, Chennai
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4:00pm - Returned to Laboratory
4:35pm - Collected medical reports ( Chest X-ray & blood investigations)
4:50pm - Reached Dr.Sanjan John's clinic
5:55pm - Dr.Sanjan John issues my Medical Forms in unsealed envelope, paid him the consulatation 700 Rs/- . No
vaccination, and he suggested me to get them done in US after wedding before filing AOS, and not to submit
any medical reports & forms to VFS.
6:00pm - Left to Airport
10:00pm - Reached Hyderabad.
Total cost : 800 + 700 = 1500 Rs/-
N.B: Chennai auto's are expensive they start from 40 Rs/- one way and above depending on distance.
All in all it went smooth.

YES, it is possible to pick up the passport with visa stamp, one or two days after the interview (sometimes even the same day). It is given at the Chennai VFS office (NOT the Consulate). In fact the Consulate officer told my husband he could pick up the visa the next business day, at the VFS office. However, his interview was on Friday and train ticket on Saturday, so he got it by courier. You are lucky because your interview is on Monday, so it will be ready at VFS for pickup on Tuesday or Wednesday. Hope you can do that!
then it sounds good to me
thanks for the input

Finally i managed to get an official birth certificate from Registrar of births , gram panchayath local body from the town where i was born .
police certificate was issued by the passport office itself (12 days back), and even a new passport issued valid till 2017.
major worries are solved

its nice to see that you guys have moved to AOS/EAD phase. good luck for the coming up stages.
i'm an ardent fan of your posts , coz they are so informative and at times stress busters. Incidentally my case processing is running in similar lines as yours , like RFE, consulate assigned, packet 4 etc.s..
pls keep posting messages about your AOS/EAD processing and its updates.
bon chance
au revoir

Thanx Agnar,Cherry and Mrs Ayilliath for ur suggestions.
I'm from Chandigarh (Punjab). Btw I was born in Chandigarh and its on my birth certificate too. Only discrepency is with the Name and Date of birth.
My case will go to Delhi embassy.
So I guess I'll go for an affidavit. I hope they accept it.
Can I use the same affidavit for my AOS and for DL in US?
As Cherry said that I need my original BC for AOS. So if I show them my original BC then they will think that I'm a fraud lol. And I'm not. They should know things like that happens a lot in India.
Sam.
Better take a legal advice and once for all get an official birth certificate from registrar of births , coz you still have plenty of time for anything. If not now , later you would be in deep trouble.
Luckily in India you can get any certificate , coz its a very liberal country
. just kidding
keeping in view about AOS in future and its serious legal implications , better go for a permanent solution.
rest is upto you
bon chance

Hi everyone,
I have a problem regarding my Birth Certificate. For that I even sent an email to US Embassy in Delhi. And they said that I should tell my problem to consular officer and bring a supporting document.
Anyways this is my problem.
My problem is that I have ORIGINAL BIRTH certificate but in that my Name and Date of Birth(DOB) is different from the Date of Birth displayed in my Passport and Matric (10th class) certificate which displays your DOB. So if I send my Original Birth certificate with the documents then that date will not match with my the Date displayed on my passport. My parents changed the date when I was in 8th class. Its not my fault. And from that moment on I have been using the same Date Of Birth on all my forms and certificates. I don't show my Original Birth Certificate anywhere and whereever I have been asked for my birth certificate there I show my Matric certificate.
And in India when a child is born he gets his real name after 15 days or 1 month. Thats how things works in India. I have my voter's id and ration card to support my name.
So please tell me what should I do? Your help will be really appreciated.
Sam
there are 3 approaches for this issue (i am not a lawyer , but this is the advice i have got from one)
approach 1: ignore your original birth certificate , if the original birth certificate and passport mentioned place of birth are different , then go to the birthplace mentioned in your passport , consult the local registrar of births / muncipal offcials and apply for a new birth certificate with affidavits (100 Rs legal stamp paper) from parents stating that you are born at home , not a hospital delivery , on the date and place mentioned in the passport. Now depending on the state, city or town or gram panchayat they take thier sweet time in issuing a new one. (pay for chai & pani , the faster it gets ) .
approach 2 : ignore the original birth certificate again , consider the place and date of birth mentioned in the passport as the real one , chennai consulate always suggests applicants incase if they cannot obtain a official birth certificate from registrar of births , to furnish a secondary birth certificate , which is nothing but an affidavit form your mother stating that yours is a home delivery and was born on the date & place mentioned in the current passport . With another witness affidiavit form your aunt or any of your mom's relation stating that it was a home delivery and they were present at that time. so the isssue is resolved. never show your original certificate at consulate its a very serious offense according to the law if the date of birth and place details are tampered or whatever.
approach 3: Go to the nearest HIGHT COURT file a writ petition , with affidavits from parents , which is all in all a day's afffair. HIGH COURT decree on your petition would squash any certificate in the world. It is the final or supreme ordeal.
Lastly , i have no idea where you belong to , i mean part of the country , but in HYDERABAD it works. One of the 3 approaches are preferred here.
hope this helps you.
good luck

We had the same question! My guy took the fees to the VFS office but they would not take it. They said fees should only be paid at the Consulate.
Get a DD at HDFC, that is what the Consulate prefers.
thanks a bunch for the input
congratulations for both of you on your marriage
cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeersssssssssssssssssss

Hello! You can fill out the forms online, no problem. No numbers are assigned to the forms physically sent in India.
I electronically filled out the forms and sent to India for my (then) fiance to sign, long before he got Packet 4. He used the forms I sent and had no problem at all!
SOUNDS GOOD
thanks a bunch for the input

Hey guys ,
Are we supposed to pay 4200 INR at the chennai consulate or at VFS office when we submit packet 4?
