How long they can stay in US while on tourist visa depends on the port of entry, clearing with immigrations.. Not sure if 6 months max they can stay, but they did get a round trip ticket with 6 months stay and that's what they got when they cleared... sometimes they also give 3 month stay.. etc..
I dont think its a requirement that they get a roundtrip ticket but i remember before some airlines ask what kind of visa you have and usually quotes a roundtrip for tourist, parang by default... so you need to specify with them if it's one way only.
Question lang po for future reference...If parents got approved for a 10 year multiple entry visa, are they required to purchase a round trip ticket? Or is it OK to purchase a one way ticket only especially if they are not sure when they want to go back? Also, as tourist visa holders, what is the maximum number of days they can stay here in US, if there's such a thing?
Thanks!

what if alang business ang mother ko housewife sya father ko lng po ang ngwork but shes 54 yrs old.property lng dw ng house at bank meron sya high chance ba n possible d sya mgrant ng visa?thanks po s reply!
as long as your parents show strong ties to the Philippines, and convinces the consul that she will come back... then she may have a chance.
Strong ties to Philippines doesn't always mean financial proof.
can be relational ties, for example, your brothers or sisters... tulad ni mama at papa, they were approved 10 yr visa though they weren't asked for any financial proof at all.
when they were asked why will you come back to Philippines...
my mother answered isa lang anak niya sa US, 4 sa Pinas pati mga apo... di niya pagpapalit yun.. purpose lang talaga is to visit kasi matanda na rin si Papa at gusto nya ring makarating ng tate...
... so basically its how you really convince the consul that they are there for their purpose and will return as expected of a tourist.

Exactly!!
I do that to my fiance too. Thankfully he doesn't mind it too much. He's like a furnace pumping off heat most of the time and I'm constantly cold, so I use his body for the heat, lol. -
my first job is... IT support analyst.. still doing it now... love it!.. only contractual but hoping to be perm.. and would have been better if this will happen soon... but still thankful..

I had a serious talk with my husband following that incident... of course when I was all calm so i can clearly tell him what I didn't like. On his part, he was just playing / joking around. I told him that it was unacceptable and that i found it very rude... and he picked a bad timing for his pranks. He said he will never do it again... and all is well between us...
and then he said... wasn't it last week or two ago that you tried to get your feet under my thighs when they were also cold?... I was only trying to get warm.. but i guess he didn't like it too...
My parents are in the other room.. They don't know what happened and if they notice something, they prefer not to meddle... That's the way i like it too... to avoid complications. They have good relationship with my husband and I to my parents. Don't want that ruined....
-
With all the love we have for our dear spouse, still there are some of those behaviours that you don't expect and make you cringe your nose and say NO WAY... that is completely UNACCEPTABLE!
What are some of your spouse's misbehaviours that you find unacceptable and unbearable...
i'll start...
i wasn't feeling too good yesterday, managed to feed my baby, gave my baby to my parents to get him to sleep and ready to call in a night... too tired to get up, i asked my husband if he can do me a favor and fill the humidifier with water for me since my nose bleeds from dry air.... he did so after awhile, came back to the bedroom and poured cold water on me while im in bed dazing off too sleep... I got so mad and pissed, i find it so RUDE and UNRULY! I yelled at him... asking why he did that... he said he's just fooling around. I really feel bad right now... until this morning... until now. What do you do?

how much is the fee for late filing for ROM?
Yes, you should file for ROM within a year or there will be a penalty. I did file my ROM last november through mail. I sent it to San Francisco Consulate and took me 10 working days to get my passport back. Just follow the requirements on their website. You have to be file it in person fo passport renewal though.

Is there possible for them to go to a 3rd country and get married there? Why not? People can get married any country they want, even if it's a third world country as long as they are legally able to and abides by the laws. In this case, i am not sure if their marriage in the Philippines is void though since considering the USC is still legally married at the time of their marriage 8 years ago.
And use this marriage certificate for the visa? Or get divorced in Philippines and apply for K1?
Divorce is not legal in the Philippines. They can annul the marriage if it's still not voided yet, since again, the USC is still legally married at the time.
I'm not a lawyer, just trowing out some thoughts.

Yes, file AOS yourselves and save lotsa moooolahh... Also this way, you can check, doublecheck all your paperwork, correct mistakes before submitting and know the ins and outs of all the documents submitted. If careful, you can avoid RFEs.
If unsure of anything, or confused with something, don't forget to consult VJ peeps... alot here have gone through same process, different experiences/circumstances, good and bad who can give you really good advice and point you to the right direction..
Best wishes and congrats...
thank you all for the input. your help is greatly appreciated.-kristine

HMmmmmm.... This may actually be something new.... it wasn't like this when we applied 2 yrs ago.
Guys, read the top of this link. What do you think?http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwhniv1.html
I've never heard this from ANYONE before and it's caught us totally off guard.
Nonimmigrant Visa Application Procedures
If you intend to apply for a nonimmigrant visa to the United States, we encourage you to first visit our About Nonimmigrant Visas page.
ALL APPLICANTS, REGARDLESS OF AGE (excluding those applying for diplomatic visas), ARE REQUIRED TO APPEAR AT THE EMBASSY FOR AN INTERVIEW.
Minor (unmarried 20 years old and below) nonimmigrant visa applicants are required to appear with at least one parent for the interview. If the minor is an orphan or if both parents are outside of the Philippines, then a legal guardian must be present during the interview.

Yes that is all correct, except she never indicated she worked on the AOS. Thanks
Did she get her job here in US before you filed for AOS or after?

dang! really? then i need to file also! but from what i understand the IO told me to file for 10 yr GC 90 days before the 2nd yr anniversary of my arrival here not my wedding anniv
From what i understand, you have to file within 90 days before the expiration date on your permanent residence card (green card)...
DianneWalgreens, I was looking at your time line and you received your green card 6/29/2009. My 2 yr conditional GC expires 11/18, 2010 since i got it Nov 18, 2008... then that means i will have to file my GC from between aug 21-nov 18, 2010. But I will probably send out my packet aug 25 this year to be sure.
If you both got your greencard second quarter and onwards of 2009, you probably have to remove conditions in 2011....
Am i right?

Naku... parang ganito rin yung case ko... except yung sa akin yung third party yung ex wife... dun din sa first few months ako i have doubts.. Kaka-low talaga ng morale if you were in the situation.. minsan may feeling na parang ikaw pa yung third party... madalas nga noon, lumalabas pa kaming tatlo, sobrang OP ako... they talk about used-to-do in the past or did-you-remember game... ayyy kakaloka.. ako rin, iyak nang iyak nung una... but i got over it (syanga kaya?)... I can't do anything about the ex's moves nor my husband's.. I can only control what i can do. I know mahirap... but i just took my husband's word for it, basta sa akin siya umuuwi, sa akin siya sumusunod, tapos ang kuwento.. buti tumino nang kaunti yung asawa ko.. I know until now, may communication pa rin sila... text msg, facebook... instant msgr.. ayyy keber..... basta pag kelangan ko asawa ko dapat andyan sya kundi warlock itu!!!buti di pa naman umabot sa ganun... rerebenta ang ulo ko... good luck sa asawa ko pag ganun nga.
basta girl, yung sakin, tatagan mo loob mo... been there sa situation mo... it's a matter of battling with yourself din... your self-esteem is really at stake, basta kahit anong mangyari don't give up your self-esteem.. Naku ha... bata pa tayo, lahat ng positive thoughts, gawin mo, isipin mo... divert yourself for the better... isipin mo na lang... di mauubusan ng ####### sa mundo! (ayy.. pardon my word).. smile ka lang parati... things will turn around.

hahaha... this is always a funny story... husband teaching wife to drive...
in our case, we practice... we get home and we were not talking anymore...
I'm hoping to get my drivers license this coming year... I wasn't as prepared when I first took my first road test though the written test I aced out. It was actually a series of unfortunate events on that day, possibly cues on me not to take it that day. We were late on our appointment. My husband had to work and his ex wife had to drive me to there. Customer service in DMV didn't know what to do with my case.. My instinct told me not to do it, and i didn't listen. By the time it was my turn, i was already too psyched out... and it reflected. hahahaha...
Anyhooooo... I feel my husband is still nervous when i drive...

When I got my first job here in US, where I still work until now, when asked for references, I asked if what they want is references that are in the Philippines and I gave option of references here in US, people i know that are currently in US and who I've worked with in the past who can attest to my capabilities. I gave them all my references anyway, 3 that i worked with in the previous companies and 3 references that are here in US who knows my work while i was in college. I have set expectations with my employers that i only have the contact information when i was still working with them in the Philippines, I am not sure if they have changed mobile nos or if they are still in the same company we worked for (luckily they all were still the same). I provided email, mobile nos, work nos. Our company oursources the background verification and i got email back from my references in the Philippines that they indeed called and did some verification. Work ethics and all that... I remember my previous manager said someone from India called him.. and that he didn't expect it! but it turned out ok....

I don't understand... why doesn't husband file for divorce yet? why does he have to wait 2 years and make you suffer like that? very cruel indeed. If he wants the cebuana girl, then maybe you can convince him to file the divorce right away, what is he waiting for? since he makes it clear to you that he wants the other girl, let him go...

Hello! To original OP...
What we did... Just be honest with information that she will be coming in to visit you and her daughter and grandchild. I would not stress/mention that she will be coming to babysit or care for the baby.. This is a tourist visa after all. You would not want to give the consul reasons to deny her the application suited for a tourist visa..
If consul asks, why she wants to go to US... don't tell because my daughter has a baby and i will babysit... really it's just a matter of how she convinces the consul of her ties by the answers she give. I would suggest you also go thru with her what possible questions may arise during the interview so she will be prepared what to say and you would have time to think if answers may be negative, you can suggest possible positive remark.. also should be confident.
I was almost in the same situation as you are now, and my parents in fact just arrived here 2 weeks ago. They got 10yr multientry.
Good luck and God bless.

we watched it last night.. I feel both Kevin Skinner and Barbara singing from their heart when they perform.
I thought Barbara would win..
vs
USC Husband thought Kevin, the chicken catcher, will and he did...
After the results were announced, he commented more americans listen to country music than opera.. I guess he has a point..
With what he said i guess he knows better in terms of what americans like... that should just be right, because i am still a foreigner in this country and admits i still don't know much about american living to predict outcomes like this... just got me thinking...

Hi,
I had a successful B2 visa interview last year (10 year multiple entry visa). Interview took less than 3 minutes.
You can start by visiting this site, http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwh3024.html everything is there.
Goodluck!

Cool. Did they ask for any of the documentation listed in demonstrating ties to the Phils?
my folks were never asked for any documentation during the interview... aside from that my grandma is also coming. They applied last week of June and they were approved right away... grandma applied august and also approved. ALl of them were granted 10 year visa. They are arriving next week woohooo...

should have had it corrected, misspelled info on passport, esp state may pose a problem.. That's the reason why i opt to have my visa picked up so i can check for the information if everything is correct... spelling included. Maybe you can still have it corrected in the US embassy and just request for a pick up if you are going to take your CFO in Manila area due to you're leaving pretty soon. Just to be sure you know...
If ever they allow you entry in POE even if its misspelled and definitely not your fault, i think it will still be a hassle when you don't have it corrected because when you get here, there will be adjustment, and all the paperwork, so you don't have to explain over and over again what happened.
Good thing though is that i googled hopkinsville, ny and i don't think there's such a place..
They should be able to change the visa and correct the spelling on it, it was their fault.
Maybe you can call the US embassy and ask how you can go about it and also inform that you will be leaving in Aug.
Good luck.
Wait, I thought you could only ask to pick it up. It said in the guidelines you have a 50/50 chance of being able to pick it up or them delivering it via whatever service they use now, I think Air21. I know that was posted over a year ago. Is picking it up at the embassy an option now??
At the time my visa was approved i requested for CO if possible for me to pick up my visa at the last part of the K1 interview since I was in the manila area anyway and was gonna leave for the province and noone will receive my visa in the apt i live in in manila by the time Delbros delivers it, and he said it was ok... I was able to pick up my visa at the US embassy myself as soon as i received their text message. I don't know if they still allow it now. As far as i heard here in VJ, not anymore.

Hello!
I will be removing conditions pretty soon this year and so i was reading a lot thru this process.. I think you need to put your son there in the I-751 form even if she's not in the US. There will be an option in Part 5 if living with you, then just choose option for NO.
