Hi!
I live in TN and we did the report of marriage in DC. Since passport needs to be renewed in person now, is it possible to renew it in a different consulate? My husband thinks if it's possible to renew it in Chicago, so it will be possible and we can go to Mi to visit his dad since he just got a heart surgery.

Are you using symantec as your antivirus software?
If symantec, you can disable that denial of service notification under symantec settings
Hey guys, After we have set up our wireless internet to be able to connect our Nintendo Wii, and Kindle. Now I found out that there's an attacker sending DoS Attack (Denial-of-service attack) on our network on purpose to prevent us from using our own service, what should we do to prevent such attack from appearing on our wireless router logs. Everyday we see this attack recorded.
Anyone with that has experienced similar situation? Any advice will be very helpful.

What kind of visa did you come in for? K1? Your timeline doesn't add up. You said your 2-year conditional visa expired Feb 5, 2011? you should have filed for removal of conditions before your card expiration. It's already past that date now.
I currently have a conditional 2 yr greencard. My card will expire Feb 5 2011.
I'm supposed to file to remove conditions in November 7 2011 but I've planned to travel outside of the US from October 12 to November 22.
I was wondering if I could apply just after my trip. Would that be okay?
Would my conditional greed card be sufficient for my re-entry to the US if I didn't file the I-751 before? I just heard someone say that you should do it early in the 90 day window.
Thank you.

I would still take note of everything... document dates, incidents, when your husband moved, that way when the time comes you might need it, it comes in handy... Sorry this happened to you..

it's normal. I got a reminder from USCIS 3months before my greencard was about to expire. You are in the right track.
Hi Everyone!
Wow very long time that I didnt came here!
I have a question!
My conditionnal green card expires on June 25 2011. So I started to get ready to fill the form to remove the conditions on March 25th.
What a surprise when yesterday I got a mail from the USCIS that remind me to do so!
Am I the only one to get a reminder?
-
That is not true. You only get a one year extension if you file removal of conditions within 90 days before your 2-yr greencard expires and it was received by USCIS and you get the NOA1.
I would say, divorce him right away, then file removal of conditions with a waiver, not joint with him, within 90 days prior to GC expiration. If your divorce isn't final yet, you will get an RFE for the divorce decree and that will give you time to get one thing done, which is finalize the divorce and move away from him as much as possible. Doing it jointly, with your ex's help is fraud. You can do it on your own without an attorney, alot of helpful guides here in VJ and VJ users, just have to do your reading and research then will save you alot.
If you are currently petitioning or co-signed to bring some of his family here(maybe more information on this? Is he a filipino naturalized US citizen? Who is he petitioning? What relation to him? parent, siblings? As far as I know LPR, cannot petition for family members except immediate relative, like husband/wife or children under certain age.) If their paperwork is processing, the best you could do is inform them that you will be divorcing and that you would like to withdraw the AOS petition, but not sure if you will be out of the binding contract with them once the family gets approved.
Thank you! That's a relieve, coz no matter what he is going to file a divorce. I'm just concern, what to do after the divorce. From what i know, after my GC expires on June, i will be given 1 more year to stay in the US and adjust my status to permanent GCFrom what i know, after my GC expires on June, i will be given 1 more year to stay in the US and adjust my status to permanent GC. one lawyer told me to help me, but he's asking for $3000 charge and telling it is difficult to do and once i did it wrong I might be send back to the Philippines. i wonder if I can do it on my own, without the attorney's help. i have no way I could provide that money, eversince i left my husband i took care of myself here with a minimal income because I was only here for two months when I discovered he is having an affair, and that's when he started abusing me,i only have enough for my bills and needs. I actually even think of going home to philippines, coz definitely Hawaii was not a land of paradise for me just like some people say, but since I met my boyfriend he helped me out a lot to move on.

I would arrange it in a timeline fashion... that way it will be easier for consul as well.

Ok, the earliest you can file is Feb 6, 2011... YOu can file now to the service center that is in jurisdiction of your current state and once you move just make sure that you contact them right away (within 10 days after you move). You may be lucky if you receive it before you move (possible but unlikely) but if not, you need to file the Change of address immediately when you get to the new place. This however you cannot do online thru the website.. You have to call them..
Here is the link for information about the change of address. http://www.uscis.gov/files/article/F2eng.pdf
https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=coa.Terms
Below is an excerpt from the fact sheet in the USCIS website.
"If You Are a Permanent Resident and You Have a Case
Pending With USCIS:
If you have filed any application or petition with us, and it is still
pending a decision, you should keep us informed of any change
of address so you can get any notices or decisions from us. You can now do this electronically on our website for most applications and petitions at the same time you complete your Form AR-11
electronically. Filling out the electronic Form AR-11 is only the first
step. We will ask you for some information about your pending case.
Please have the following information available:
• Your receipt notice or other notice we sent you showing your
receipt number;
• Your new address;
• Your old address;
• The names and biographical information for the person or
persons for whom you have filed;
• When you last entered the United States (if you cannot
remember, please fill in an approximate date); and
• Where you last entered the United States (the port of entry you
entered – land, sea or air)."
My GC expires may 6th and bc i didnt kno when in the month of april i am moving to the east coast i thought that it would be easier here and i would not have to wait till the last minute. Another thing is that my husband is in the military and we are getting ready to go overseas and i need to get my GC asap

Hello!
This happened to me too... but after you received your biometrics letter (appointment), when you check your case status, use the case no from the biometrics appointment letter and let us know if you are still having issues? I tried my biometrics case no and it worked for me.
Hello everybody!
I don't know what's happening with my case, and I'd like to ask you if you ever heard of anything like this... It's probably common, but it might not be, so I'm not sure what to think or do about it.
I filed at the beginning of November, they cashed my check and sent me a NOA extending my resident status for a period of one year. I was scheduled for biometrics in December, and I had them done. Since then I checked my case status online a few times, I used to be able to do that, and then it disappeared. For the past few weeks, every time I try to check it online, it doesn't show up, I just get a message saying they can't find my case and my reference number. I called them, and they couldn't find it by phone either. Someone there said there might be a glitch (?) in the system, and I shouldn't worry about it. That was a few weeks ago, and still every time I try to find my case online I get the same response, like it doesn't exist anymore. What should I do? Is this normal?
-
assuming your greencard will expire May 11, 2011 (basing from your sig timeline) the earliest you can file for ROC is Feb 11, 2011 (90 days)... if it's me, i will move to new location first and will send my packet with my ar11 confirmation (change of address can be printed from when you do it online) to the respective service center in jurisdiction of the state I moved to... As long as the move takes place within 90 days before my 2-year greencard expires. I will give it at least two weeks before greencard expires, just in case something unexpected happens.
-
can attach AR11 confirmation that you moved to a new location as part of your packet or evidence for ROC... there's a link online for the arll form (change of address form)..

Got my greencard in the mail yesterday!! thank you all for all the guidance and help... Thank you Lord!
-
Hello!
What is the exact wording you got...
usually, it will say something like, if you have not done so, please provide supporting documents... but if you already did... no more worries.
That's normal.. the same as mine.
Hello.
I submit my ROC last Jan 20, 2011 and I recieved my first notice last Jan 24, 2011. I'm confuse why they are asking for tax return, rental agreement, copy of insurance policy.I already submitted everything. Does anyone here had the same problem as mine? What did you do? Does the removal of condition will take long if there is a discrepancy or problem? Please help.

WHat is the i-551? Do u have to pay to get the stamp in the passport?

If this would help, i submitted proof of benificiary, showing my husband as benificiary, from the company's online web service. I logged into my account from the company's official website and under benificiaries, I printed that page. I just blocked out the account nos etc...
For the bank statements, I provided three statements in a year for the last 3 years, showing the timeline of our marriage...
Hello Everyone -
I thought I'd put all of my questions (for now, ha!) in one place. I appreciate advice from those who have experience or special knowledge about this procedure.
1. I'm having a hard time getting my insurance company to send me a letter stating that my husband is listed as beneficiary and also that he's listed as a dependent. I requested this letter weeks ago, it still hasn't come. When I log in to my benefits account, however, my husband is clearly listed as a dependent. Does anyone have experience/opinions about using printouts from information online as opposed to letters?
2. Is an affidavit from our landlord as good as a lease, or is a lease agreement better? (To establish living in the same household.) We're also sending in copies of bills from both that come to our address. A couple in my name, others in his name.
3. Is it important for bills/bank statements to have a variety of different dates on them?
Thanks.

Removing the quote for other's sake of updating the timeline...
I'll take the first one for the Oct Filers... Showing LIFE in VSC indeed!

Hello!
I am posting in behalf of a friend who called me yesterday about his situation. He said that his employer is asking for his NOA1 letter that states that his greencard was extended for a year. He received the Biometrics appointment letter but due to his employer asking about the NOA1, he just now realized that he did not receive the NOA1 letter.
I know.. i know... i have redirected him to visajourney about immigration stuff, but he said that he doesn't like to read... so now... anyway...
He called USCIS and got very frustrating call/s with whoever was answering the phones.. He was escalated to a senior call center rep and was informed that they are not mailing out NOA1 anymore, which I know is NOT true since I got mine. He's in California. His employer wants the NOA1. What do you think could be done for this so he could show his employer that he is in the process for removing conditions that they would accept? Can they resend NOA1, since he didn't receive it in the first place? Lawyer of his employer does not accept the Biometrics letter he received.
Any suggestions?

We are on the same boat.. I am also needing to renew my passport since it's expired already, still have the green one. I concur, masusungit nga... I even tried calling the Washington DC consulate, masungit talaga parang ayaw tumulong. Dahil siguro nagtagalog ako asking my questions sa umpisa tapos yung sagot nila in English.. parang disgusted, lagyan ko pa nga ng punto tapos "twang" ng english, natahimik. anyway... But i was told that in renewing the passport, you have to report the marriage first.
To OP, you don't need to report your marriage in CA consulate. Sa Washington DC consulate is fine. It doesn't have to be where you were actually married.

IS tech in a university... do they offer you benefits if you take college courses in their university or any education related? Just curious....
Information Support Tech for a University. First ever job in the US and been with the company for almost 4 years and hope to be there for as long as they need me.

Thanks for the response. I am in TN. I reported my marriage and birth of our child to Washington DC. I am currently on ROC as well, will that have any effect? which form do i need to submit? meron akong nakita, ammendment of passport... but i can't find renewing passport.
try this site...www.philippineconsulatela.org this is in LA, but since you are in Texas, i guess covered kayo ng Chicago consulate since un ang pinakamalapit na consulate sa inyo. If you are K1, kelangan mong ireport and marriage mo para magamit mo ang married name mo. Pwede mong isabay ang pagreport ng iyong marriage sa pag renew ng pp mo, kelangan lang na complete ang mga papers mo para di masayang ang pagtravel mo at magamit mo ang married name mo.

My Philippine passport is expiring this January and I would like to renew it before it expires.. is there any link out there you could give me, I tried searching on the philippine embassy site but it said site in progress.. We may or may not come to the Philippines this year.
What did you put on the new passport, new last name? or same as the one you had. Any guidance is appreciated. Thank you.
Clarification - requirements based on being PR for at least 5 years
in US Citizenship General Discussion
Posted
Hi,
I've been here in US for a little over 6 years and am preparing to send in my packet this week on the basis of being married for at least 3 years and staying married to same us citizen, when my husband told me i can file on the basis on being here for 5 years consecutively. He said that less requirements for the first one.
My quick question: is my understanding correct that you only need to send the n400 form and these 3 below? No need to send other requirements like child's birth certificate, husband's us passport, irs...
Or should i send it anyway to be safe?
1. A photocopy of both sides of your Permanent Resident Card (formerly known as the Alien Registration Card or 'Green Card'). If you have lost the card, submit a photocopy of the receipt of your Form I-90, 'Application to Replace Permanent Resident Card'; and 2. Two identical color photographs, with your name and A-number written lightly in pencil on the back of each photo. For details about the photo requirements, see this specification. Do not wear eyeglasses or earrings for the photo. If your religion requires you to wear a head covering, your facial features must still be exposed in the photo for purposes of identification; and 3. A check or money order for the correct application fee and the biometric services fee for fingerprinting. (Applicants 75 years of age or older are exempted from fingerprinting and the biometrics services fee). Write your 'A-number' on the back of the check or money order. Thanks in advance for your response.
