It took about 10 days to get the letter, and the interview was scheduled for about 5 weeks after that.

Thanks for your prompt response. I appreciate your time and assistance. If you don't mind me asking, how did the interview go? Did you take your child with you? Also, do you think it's necessary to take our 2020 tax returns? We haven't filed yet.

    Again, thank you.

I have my AOS interview next week at the NYC office. A few questions-

    1. The interview letter says not to bring kids (I think due to COVID). Is that a hard and fast rule? I once heard that bringing your kid adds legitimacy as its the best proof you can have, right there in front of you. Any truth to that?

    2. I am a Canadian and do not have an I-94 for when I entered. Am I supposed to get one somehow or will the interviewer know that I don't need it?

    3. The letter says to arrive no more than 15 minutes before the appointment time. However, i've read that it can take much longer to get into the building. What gives? Should I arrive early and try to get in so i'll be on time to the interview?

    4. The letter says I should bring "originals and copies of each supporting document submitted with the application". What exactly is included in "supporting documents"? Is that a reference to only the official documents, like passports and birth certificates, or does it include everything I submitted, like photo evidence and wedding invite? if the latter, why do I have to bring those things if I already submitted them and there is no authentication concern like passports etc.?

    Thanks

    Hi,

Congrats on your interview being scheduled and good luck! I too just got an update two days ago that my "interview has been scheduled". Can you please tell me how long it took to receive your letter in the mail from the time you got an update on your case, and how long from the update and/or the interview notice was the interviewer scheduled for? My husband had a trip planned for the end of this month,  so it'd be really helpful if I had an estimate ahead of time to make appropriate adjustments. I'm in NY as well and based on my location, I'm sure my interview still be at the NYC office.

    Thanks

We found our representative for our district via house.gov.  After we found out who they were we filled out simple release of information worksheet that asked the names or applicant, case number, and a description of the issue.  Send it to them via email, and wait for a reply.

I had done this for a Inquiry on my wifes k1 visa as well.

    Thank you so much.

Check this site to see if people who share the same local office with you and filed around the same time or later are getting interviews yet..  Then use that to determine if you should contact your congressman or not..

I personally did contact mine as ive seen people who filed in October 2019 at the st paul office been getting interviews since last November.  And people as late as January 2020.

Don't want to have a denied greencard for uscis failing to update the website  that they scheduled a interview and I never got the letter.  Better safe than sorry 😅

Thanks for getting back to me. I appreciate it. Do you mind telling me how you went about informing your congressperson about your whole predicament, like the process you went through?

    Hello everyone!

It's been a very long time since I've posted here and quite a bit of stuff has happened (some good, others not so much 😅) but I wanted to give you all a status update

Biggest thing is that after having had my AOS interview almost 2 months ago, the status of my case finally switched on the 24th to "We ordered your new card" and yesterday it went to "Case was approved" I cannot tell you how much of a relief this was as my work permit had expired (dreadful situation) and I really thought I was in it for the long haul when it came to the waiting game, thinking I would be waiting a whole 120 days before anything happened.

I did call up my congressman's office for help at the beginning of the month (they sent a congressional inquiry about a week later) as well as sent an e-request via the USCIS website and to this day my best bet is that the e-request got them going since it said I would hear an update on the 24th and I sure did haha 🤣

Don't lose hope folks! This has been such a long and arduous journey and with COVID messing everything up I really hope this is the worst that things will ever come to be...

    Good luck 🥰

    Hi,

Congrats on your approval. How long after your case status said "case is ready to be scheduled for interview ", did you wait before contacting your Congress man's office? I have been waiting since 12/2019, but each time I check the website it says that my "case is within normal processing time", so I'm reluctant to contact my Congress woman because of that. Thanks, and I appreciate you replying me.

Weve been waiting for an interview since March 2020.  We recently closed on a house together and changed our address with USCIS the begining of Nov.  Our case status updated again to "Ready to be scheduled for an interview".  Is that normal?

2nd, We plan to bring for proof of relationship.

    1. Warranty deed for house

    2. Joint bank account statement

    3. Joint investment account statement

    4. Beneficary list for my 401k

    5. Joint tax return for 2019 ( no transcripts yet)

    6. Car insurance with her listed as my spouse (Doesnt drive, yet)

    7. Joint credit card statemenrs (4 of them)

    8.  Insurance info for medical + dental (She is a beneficary of my insurance from work)

Now, I dont know exactly what else im supposed to bring.  do i bring  a copy of the I485 also?  And a new affidavit of support? All previous NOA documents?

I know a updated letter from my employer + 1 month of paystubs, and maybe her paystubs +letter as well.

Trying to get things organzied a little.. In the move... Some things got mixed and moved.

    Hi,

I have been waiting with my case status stuck at case is ready to be scheduled for an interview since 12/2019, I filed 10/2019. My life has been on hold ever since, can't go to school or anything important.

Your question posted got me curious though, were you a co signer on your mortgage with your partner? My husband and I have been thinking about getting a house in my name, but because I don't have a green card yet, we are think I am not qualified. Can u kindly expand on your mortgage application process, like who is the main applicant and who is the cosigner, what immigration paper did they ask for? We really want to get our kids out our apartment and get a house where they can grow up as normal kids with space to play, pets and all that. I can't wait on that green card for that anymore. The wait is way too brutal. I appreciate you replying me on this matter. Thanks.

Wow...that's fast 😉 By the way I only sent my  renewal EAD package today by USPS , I skipped extending AP, because I don't plan to go anywhere during this Covid times. Thanks again for all your help guys, Stay safe....😉

    Hi,

Did you just fill up the I765 form and attach your I797 receipt with other required documents to renewyour EAD, or did you pay a fee as well? I have been checking the USCIS website but I can't find anything concerning pending I485 applicants in the family based category.

    Congrats on the approval!

    Short answer? More waiting.

The I-130 is your petition based on marriage. The I-485 is your green card application based on that approved petition. Next steps...waiting for biometrics and interview.

Thanks. I forgot to say, but I already did biometrics and my i485 current status is "case is ready to be scheduled for interview", and has been like that since December of last year. I also got my work authorization which is scheduled to expire the beginning of next year.

I got Request for initial evidence at early May asking for medical report I-693. We sent back the response and my attoney said they should get it at Jun 1st.

But the case status online is still "Request for Initial Evidence Was Sent". Have anyone faced this before?

I thought it should update to something like your response is recieved or your case is reviewing.

I'm experiencing the same thing right now. Its been more than 1 month since I sent the RFIE. No update since. I called them and they said to wait up to 60 days. Plus the case tracker app is malfunctioning. I keep getting old statuses like 10 to 15 time a day for maybe a week now.

(Disclaimer: This isn't legal advice and you should absolutely consult with your immigration attorney if you have one. If not and you potentially get a NOID or denial, get one.)

Call again ASAP and confirm if they did or did not receive it. Not responding to an RFID (or having USCIS not receive it) is really serious as USCIS could make an adverse inference against you.

I believe there was a 60 day extension for responding but that's ONLY for requests issued up to May 1st. So, your due date will probably be Sunday June 21st.

If you sent it tracked, tell that to the agent and confirm that the tracking shows it was delivered and signed for (or collected).

If you have a copy of their original letter and the USCIS customer support agent says they can't see a response on file you should immediately send a new copy with all the evidence via recorded or trackable mail. (I'd recommend something expedited too, e.g. UPS Next Day or Priority Mail Express)

I'd recommend including a letter explaining the delay and include a copy of the tracking receipt from the first time you sent it, if you have one.

Thanks for the response. I did expedite the first one I sent, and I will be calling them on Monday and sending another expedited one as you recommended, if they tell me they did not receive it. I cannot take my mind off it tonight. I am so worried. Fingers crossed.

  11. So I got a RFIE from USCIS on or around May 22. They were requesting for a copy of my marriage certificate to make a decision on my I-130 which was filed more than a year ago. I haven't received any notice or notification that they have received the RFIE that I sent back, neither have they made a decision on my I-130 or my I-485 which has had the status Ready to Be Schedule for Interview since January of this year. I called them two weeks later after sending the RFIE and the representative said, there is no record of them receiving it. Is it normal for them to receive the response to a RFIE and not acknowledge receipt of it? I am going to call them Monday again. I am so worry that the deadline has passed, and they did not receive it.

You'll get another update when the interview actually gets scheduled and then you'll receive a letter with time and date. For now that update only means that the initial review is finished and your case gets send to your local office. Depending on the workload of your local office the pile on which your file ends up could be smaller or bigger

I got the same update, "case is ready to be scheduled for interview" in January. Then a few days ago, I got an update saying I'm getting an RFIE. Has anybody experienced this? And could it be because I sent a letter requesting a transfer of underlying basis? I'm thinking the latter.

    10/22 Sent out I-130, I-485, I-765 & I-131

    10/23 Delivered in Chicago

11/7   Texts from USCIS that case was received

    11/13 Received NOA letters

    11/22 Received letter for biometrics

    12/6 Biometrics appointment

1/3 "case ready to be scheduled for interview"

    1/8 "interview was scheduled"

So when is your interview scheduled for? As for me, I sent my package 10/23, biometrics 11/26, ready to be scheduled for interview 12/31. And still waiting to go to the next stage.

Status reads "...Fingerprints relating to your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, Receipt Number MSC20903xxxxx, have been applied to your case"

Local field office is Manchester, NH

It could be a couple of reasons why my case is ready to be scheduled for interview this fast. Could be luck, could be because of my local CIS office(I'm not sure), could be because I previously had an EAD under a different category or because I sent in my I-693 instead of waiting for courtesy letter like most people do. Also, could be because I have sent in a lot of documents previously when filing for other immigration benefits in the past. And probably, they did not have a problem verifying most of them as they have already done it in the past. Again, I'm not sure. Anyway, I am hoping and praying that we get our interview date sooner than later. Good luck to us!

I also got my EAD expedited so I'm more than happy to share some of my cover letter details with you. I'm sure OP will too. Some of the documents are very specific to my situation, so I would list out everything that would be considered a financial constraint to you, had you have to pass on this offer.

A paragraph talking about the losses I would face:

"The loss of this job offer will not only result in a severe financial loss to us but also will consequently impact my career as I stand to suffer a major professional setback, given the unique nature of this opportunity. Lastly, I would lose the opportunity to have health insurance coverage through this employer as I am not currently insured since my husband and I cannot afford to pay the spouse premium.

Please find the following documents to support my claims, presented in the following order:

    1. USCIS email notice requesting additional information
    2. Job offer letter highlighting the expiration date of abc.
    3. Proof of the employment gap: previous EAD card, Employment verification letter from my previous employer
    4. Proof of current health situation: not insured, needing emergency wisdom teeth extractions, Proof of my husband’s current health insurance plan stating a $x increase in premium per month for spouse, Dentist’s emergency treatment plan for three wisdom teeth extractions estimating over $x
    5. Outstanding monthly expenses that are currently being paid solely by my husband: Residential rental contract showing our monthly rent of $x
    6. Outstanding loans that are currently being paid solely by my husband: A student loan statement with a remaining balance of $x, Auto loan statements with a total remaining balance of $x, A wedding expenses loan statement with a total remaining balance of $x
    7. A certified copy of marriage certificate

    Hi,

I see that you got your EAD expedited. Can you please tell me when and how you got to expedited it (like what means, congressman/woman or ousbadman or by phoning USCIS? Also, how did you get the job offer, like did you apply for a job and then request an offer letter from your expected employer after the interview? Thank you.
