Many have been in your shoes---leaving spouses and sometimes even their children in another country for a long period of time.  Fortunately, immigration is a two-way street...and some families end up living in the foreign country because the location of their family doesn't matter as much as the togetherness.

It's good that you are able to vent some of your frustrations out here.  I wish you luck.

Yes so true. Thank you so much and wish you luck and prosperity this Christmas season :)

Wait times are directly related to volumes of applications......    tourist visa denials are directly related to fraud and past behavior by people from specific countries.....

Some friendly advice:  "Imagine humans deprived of family life" - you can look at it this way, or you can look at it as being a result of your own life choices.  No one is forcing you to marry someone from another country, or to immigrate to the US.  Immigration is a privilege, and it is a choice to not be victimized by the red tape that goes along with it.

    Hi Jorgedig,

Sorry but love and relationship knows no boundaries, :) If this was by force trust me wait would have been lot easier. For me immigration is a "right" more than a privilege. I am not saying I am victimized that's a very wrong tag to add :)

Now that you are at the NVC stage things will move a lot faster.

The spousal process does move slower than the Fiance Visa process but there are definitely benefits to the path you have chosen.

We made the decision to move to a third country to be closer together.   You just do what you can to keep the relationship going.

Thanks Paul and Marie :) Hoping this moves faster :)

    Has your petition been approved?

My wife didnt get an interim tourist visa either.  They didnt even ask questions - the “interview” was just an official “hell no we aren’t giving you a visa”

    I know right.

  5. Hello Everyone,

This is (removed) wife of(removed) (the account owner), I took to this platform to share our story. A little hesitant in the beginning, but Here I am folks :) I live in Mumbai, and as much I love Mumbai, I am excited and enthralled at the thoght of moving in with my husband. I got married to my love on the 30th June 2018. And as mentioned in our profile , 1st week of Aug was when we filed our case. Our expectation from the immigration process was not as worse as it is now. We have been through lot many tough days and months. My husband has been traveling too and fro from Dallas to meet me, I even tried for a tourist visa but was rejected (what if I stayed longer in USA than what I claimed, this could be their basis for rejection). It's been almost one and a half year since we have been married, but I haven't seen my future home. I have suffered a lot because of lack of sleep, depression and stress and I don't think anything can compensate for the initial years we  lost. To worsen it, the consulate in Delhi has stopped issuing Interview letters, too increase the load in Mumbai  embassy. In addition to sleep deprivation, this wait has costed us ticket fares and festivities without our better half. I know many families suffering silently because of this, and I don't understand why cant we be permitted entry via tourist visa when others can? People commit fraud despite their marital status. Living in your home country becomes difficult with temporary jobs, no employer wants to recruit somebody leaving the country. It makes my heart sad to know that we have no tentative timelines in place, so that we can have a plan in place. I know my  situation will see no fruit full outcome, but I wish and pray there was a medium in which we could plea to the governing bodies to shorten the wait times. Imagine humans deprived of family life, yeah these are basic necessities. Lastly, I hope we all gain enough strength and courage to fight this phase of life through, AND yes...God Bless America!

The NVC stage is probably the only part where you have a tiny little bit of control when it comes to how quickly things go. And with this I mean, make sure that you have all the needed documentation beforehand, so you can start this process as soon as your case reaches the NVC, make sure that you upload the documentss correctly because if you upload a document the wrong way up it will get rejected and you have to resubmit and wait again for them to review it. All these things can make or break your NVC stage. And after that, you will be left at the mercy of the embassy,.

You will have a lot of waiting between the USCIS and NVC stage (it took us 5,5 weeks to get the NVC casenumber) and also the wait times for the interview can be very long for certain embassies.

So my advise is to start doing your research here (in the 'guides' section) to find out about the processes and the documentation that will be needed and I also used this resource a lot: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/after-petition-approved/begin-nat-visa-center.html

    Good luck!

    thanks!

Our timeline was 4 months between petition approval and visa issued, but we were very prepared with all documents ready to upload via CEAC, some countries still require mailed documents which could slow down the process.  So do more research on the NVC and interview documents and process, paying fees, etc. so that you are ready to go and know exactly what to do and which documents to submit and how to do it correctly to avoid unnecessary delays in the process.  Probably the biggest factor out of your control is how long it takes for NVC to schedule the interview abroad.  Our interview was scheduled only about a month after NVC qualified, but some countries take many months, like Mexico can be up to six months just to get an interview.  What is your country of residence?  Another delay that could happen is at the interview you may not have enough evidence to show that you will not become a public charge in the US.  What is the petitioner's income?  If it is not enough you will need a co-sponsor so check that out and have a co-sponsor and their documents prepared if needed.  Are there any red flags in your relationship?  Age difference, religion difference, previous issues with US immigration like removal or overstays in the US?  How many visits to be together, time spent with each other, and did you marry on the first visit?  These are all important factors that can cause delays or requests for more information or even a denial.  More information about your country and situation would help to give you the best advice.

    thanks!

You can check the “immigration timeline” tab at the top of the page to get an idea about the timelines. As mentioned above, a lot of factors come into play so they will only give you an estimate..

Thank you for your reply. What factors come into play? Mine went to Nebraska service center, so it already has a pretty long wait. I assume that it will get adjudicated in the next 30-45 days. What can i do to better prepare myself for NVC and Embassy to speed up? Thank you in advance.

  9. I have a pending I-130 for my spouse with USCIS and it is taking much longer than expected.  Can i bring my wife to the US on a tourist visa while I-130 is processing? Our intention is to stay in the U.S. (on tourist visa) until we get an appointment at the embassy for the interview. I'm aware that tourist visa is only valid for 6 months. Spouse will exit the US before tourist visa expires. My nationality is USC. Would there be any issues at the border if the visitor visa is stamped at the embassy?
