Use the link for an e-request of missing mail to get your extension letter of 48 months. If that doesn't get you one try to speak to an online agent (Emma on USCIS website) or calling them and saying Infopass to get connected to a person. Do not leave the US after 08/02/2023 if you don't have the new extension letter in hands.
Hi Thank you so much. I went on the USCIS website as I was confused why everyone was saying green card should be extended till 2025. I saw the article. I guess we never received the letter of extension. Thank you, I will do that.

You can file an e request here:

And the GC should be extended until 2025.
Hi Guys,
so I looked at the notices again. We filed for removal of conditions on 05/21/2021 received the first notice of extension of 18 months on 05/29/2021. We received another notice on 10/27/21 which extended green card to 24 months from date of expiration. Which means the green card expires on 08/02/2023. I tried to put in an inquiry online and got a message after submission that the case is within processing times. Now we have about 2 months and no communication from USCIS.

So if you originally had 24 months, and now 48 months extension, the card is only extended by 48 months from its expiration date.

oh okay, Thank you both. I really appreciate it. I think I am wrong, I didn't look at the new notice that extended green card for another 48 months if I remember correctly. My husband is in India and has the notices with him, so I wasn't 100% sure about how long it has been extended.

Hello Everyone, It has been a long time.
So I had brought my husband to the US on fiance visa in September of 2018, got married in November 2018. Applied for his green card, we interviewed together, he got his 2 year conditional green card. We applied for removal of conditions I-751 on May 29th, 2021. We recieved the notice about the green card being extended for another 48 months or so.
Since We had been married for 3 years - We also filed N-400 for US citizenship on November 5th, 2022.
For the I-751 - we got a notice that said January 12, 2023 Case Was Transferred And A New Office Has Jurisdiction
They scheduled an interview for N-400 in January 2023, to be held in March. But, in February, they cancelled the interview.
So far, no rescheduling of interview for N-400 and nothing regarding I-751.
What happens in these cases? I read someone's post that they get a Combo interview for both together?
Should I start calling USCIS or just wait?
I believe the extension of the 2 year green card expires in August 2023.
Please advise. Thank you.

Just wanted to Update everyone. On August 2nd, the case status changed to new card is being produced. Thank God.

Hello Everyone,
I have received an RFE which is attached below.
AOS filed In MAY
Biometrics Done June
RFE on Date of birth or birth certificate. july
I dont have a birth certificate since i was born in india before 1989, it was not recorded. it was not mandatory to get a passport with a birth certificate people born before 1989 in india so i never had to get one. I have submitted my Passport copy as a proof for my date of birth ( also added a note on the copy of passport saying i dont have a birth certificate so i'm including my passport copy as proof). now they sent me the RFE asking for prrof.
can anyone please elaborate what they asking in the letter. thank you
Hey, I went through your post. I am not sure if you have already resolved this issue, but I remember a few year back someone I know didn't have a birth certificate either and they actually got one through the Indian consulate office . I believe you go to the Indian consulate office and can apply to get a birth certificate which will be a document listening your parents name, your date of birth etc. Check your local Indian consulate's website and I believe they should have this service. We were in New York, and this was done in New York.

Exactly, unfortunately all DMVs in Illinois do not operate the same or to established protocols. I have personally seen immigrants/valid visa holders, including my husband, discriminated against at Illinois DMVs because of their status. There are several DMVs in this state where it is not advised for immigrants/valid visa holders to take their driving tests because they are notorious for failing people in these categories. So, yes, I do think that some DMVs here do make the process more difficult for immigrants and are focused on getting as much money out of the process as possible.
hi, I see you had your interview etc in Chicago? Did you have the same experience where they said we will review your case. She told us maybe a couple of weeks ( to get approval I guess). But, I get so stressed out. Interview went so well, she said you guys look very happy together etc. So, we are waiting.

I doubt the dmv operates that way thinking of making money bu asking for GC. What if the GC they wanted has 10 year validity?
It all depends on what was presented to them in place of GC.
Yeah, not sure. We took everything else that we had including our marriage certificate, notice of I-485 received, his social, i-94. But, they were like no, you don't have the green card yet and the K-1 visa you came here on is already expired. One of the employees who worked there even said that is no true, but the main manager or whoever, just wouldn't listen. I was so disheartened and left. I have read some locations in Illinois don't ask for green card, some do. We were thinking abt going again with work permit but then our interview came, so we thought let's just wait until we get the approval lolz.

I know it's hard to process not getting an approval the day of the interview but I wouldn't worry about it too much. When we had our interview last year in Chicago we were not approved on the spot, didn't even receive any paperwork from the interviewer, and had no other further updates until 3 weeks later when our account status finally changed to Card Being Produced. So, I understand your worry but, at this point, it's just going to be another round of waiting until Card Being Produced. In our case the delay was because our interviewer didn't receive any of our K-1 documentation before our interview so she had to request that paperwork along with making some corrections on our case (initial case reviewer stated we needed an I-130 completed but it was not needed since it was a K-1). So, you may have received the held for review for this reason or, like you stated, they complete the interviews throughout the day and do final approvals later in the day. Unfortunately the best advice I can give is just to wait and keep checking for updates.
Thank you so much. I am hoping it will not take too long after this. I just want this to be done so we can move on with our life. Here in Chicago, the DMV won't even let him take the written test to get his driver license without green card, so I was really heartbroken after we were handed that notice.

I assume you meant your spouse's interview?
Yes, my spouse's interview. We both were there she asked me a few things and him the regular things. Not too many questions asked from us. Basically she asked him for his date of birth, where he works, the yes/no questions at the end of application. When we met. Not too many questions. She didn't even ask him to verify my date of birth or anything. She was happy with everything finished with us in like 15 mins. Asked for like 10-15 pictures of us. I was just shocked when she gave us the being reviewed notice. I was about to cry when we came out, so much so, I left our whole file outside the office. Thankfully, the police officer outside picked it up and they called us. Oh my god 4 trips back and forth. But, yeah that was what happened.

Hello Everyone,
We had our interview for my Fiance's green card today at the Chicago USCIS office. Everything went great. She was happy with everything and she said you guys look happy together. But, after the interview she gave us a notice that said reason for continuance and checked case is being held for review. She said to expect something within a couple of weeks. I was so stressed out after that because I didn't expect them to not approve same day when we provided everything and interview went well. I have read that they do this a lot now, where they give you a case being held for review after interview. Did others experience this? Is it a common practice at the Chicago field office. I got the feeling that get the interviews done throughout the day and later review files and approve then. Any insights because I was really hoping they would approve it today. Thank you.

Hi,
Thank you so much. I really appreciate your help. Any other things I should know or any other suggestions that I may have missed to ask about? I am currently in Nursing school, so working while in a very fast paced Master's Program proved difficult, so I quit my job once my husband got his work permit and he started working. I assumed, he could show his income as a proof, I had read that somewhere. But, to be on the safe side, I also asked my sister. I am glad I asked this to the visa journey community. This page has been a great help. I thank each and everyone of you for all that you do. Thank you.

hi
since you're unemployed you will need a new i864 for the interview and a joint sponsor, your husband's income is irrelevant,
remember, he's not your fiancé anymore, you married him so he is now your husband, you will need a joint sponsor now
HI, thank you for your response. My sister, lives in California. She makes enough to sponsor him. So, I understand a new I-864 is needed. Do I have to fill out one myself also, or only have my sister and her husband fill out one? Do they have to do separate forms or one form is enough since they filed joint tax return?

Hey guys,
So, I looked at the case status today. We have the visa interview scheduled, still to receive notice in mail. A little history, we did fiance visa last year and my fiance was here in September last year. We got married in November and applied for his green card. I did work at the time, however, due to school and stuff, I decided to stop working in March of 2019. I didn't make enough in last year to file taxes, so I didn't file taxes. My fiance has been working since he got his work permit and has been making a little over $3000 a month. Now, since we don't have last year's tax return to show as proof of income, can we just show my Fiance's pay stubs as proof that he is making enough or should I have my sister who doesn't live with us, fill out the I-864. Please help!!

They prefer that your case be interviewed within that four month "window". The NOA 2 can be extended up to a year by your Embassy but with good reason and the Embassy doesn't need to extend the NOA2 for the "one" year from expiration. The new extension, if approved, will be for an additional 4 months. Extensions are in the form of 4 month extension with each approval till you reach one year. If you need to go beyond a year then you must go to the end of the line and begin the process from 129f over again and pay the fees. You must provide a reason for the NOA 2 extension when requesting the extension from your Embassy.
Now, my question is what does it mean: It's only for the interview for your visa.
[Do] we have to get married before that and have all documentation for adjustment of status sent to USCIS before October 8th. No it only pertains to the Embassy portion. For the AOS after marriage it's stipulated you must marry and submit your paperwork.
Also, if you guys can guide me to adjustment of the status forum so I do everything correctly for that. http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1k3aos
I think that pretty much answers all your questions. Good luck and we really really appreciate you!
Thank you so much... You are the best.

It means you had to have your interview and be approved by the NOA2 expiry date. You could have extended it in four month increments if you had to but now that you are approved, that date doesnt mean much.
I'll let someone else chime in on the form links as I'm tired. Today was "apply for SSN before marriage day". My peti works til 3am and we had to be up by 7 to get there for 9am. Was still 19th in line.
PS. My SS application is going through the "manual check" as the info on my K1 Visa stamp "doesnt match" my immigration info with USCIS. The agent didnt understand why he didnt get approval right away as he was knowledgable on the K1 right to SSN before AOS.
PSS. Maybe because he added the word "Can" to my hometown name as that's what my Canadian Passport said for place of birth and he swore he must go by what my passport says (even though it obviously stood for "Canada".
Or maybe it's because my father's whole middle name didnt "fit" in his system so he had to leave out a letter.
Handed me a paper with the info that he input into his system from my passport WITH the errors that I tried to correct but he wouldnt let me and I had to confirm it was all correct even though it wasnt and now I wait. Should have notice within 7 days if I have been approved for a SSN and in another 30 I'll get it in the mail if I'm approved.
*1 hour and 15 minutes in and out.
**19th in line for "New" applications alone when I arrived 10 minutes before opening.
***Location: Marietta GA
****Nice Agent. Knowledgable on K1's but not on reading passports or what to do in an exception (I feel bad for the 60% non English speaking foreigners in there. I must have heard at least 10 different languages being spoken while I waited). Nice guards, help out with explaining what to do and where to go. Busy location. 28 service windows.
Thank you very much. I really appreciate your feedback and I am very sorry you had to go through that. Once my fiance comes here, I am also dreading the same situations, lots of things to do.

Hello Everyone,
I hope everyone is well. My fiance had his interview on Sept 7th and was approved, I also went to India to be with him for his interview.
Now, I am trying to start the next process. I have a question about the NOA2 expiration. Our NOA2 is good until October 8th. Now, my question is what does it mean, is it only for interview and approval or we have to get married before that and have all documentation for adjustment of status sent to USCIS before October 8th. I have read it can be extended but not much in regards to how to extend it.
Also, if you guys can guide me to adjustment of the status forum so I do everything correctly for that. Thank you so much to everyone's help and answering my questions. I really really appreciate this forum. I wish everyone only the best, now I will update my timeline.

I read it’s meant to encourage proper filing and also not for those with innocent mistakes. However, I’m relieved to know it won’t affect us.
Yes definitely. I am also relieved as I read more about it. I am glad to see the comment about innocent mistakes. Nowadays with immigration, there are so many changes that keep taking place so I usually like to read about them and how it may affect us. I didn't mean to scare anyone, but just shared it so everyone is aware. We will all be filing adjustment of status once our fiance immigrates to the US so that's why I shared because we might get affected if not careful when filing.

Is it for all petitions or just the H1Bs?
It's for all petitions except DACA. The correct date is September 11, 2018. So let's all be careful when we file adjustment of status, take time, send extra documents if not sure but not less. I am worried about this because sometimes we can make mistakes and they won't even give an opportunity but again I am not 100% sure how exactly it will affect everyone.
-
Hey Everyone,
I read something in news today and it said that starting sometime in September ( I believe it was September 7th) the USCIS will no longer send the request for evidence and notice of why denied etc. It is kind of scary but not sure what the little details are.

Hi
You no need to worry about blocked your ID.it's temporary for max 2 days and you asked about how many times you can reschedule answer is yes you can do for 4 times and fifth attempt is final and yes you can book appointment in Delhi for biometric (OFC ) but I suggest you should book your appointment in Mumbai a day or two before your interview so they can get your biometric data right way. Other easy way to book appointment is wheneveryou see slots is available call us visa help desk which is in Delhi and Hyderabad they will book for you slots can open anytime coz some applicant cancel there appointment when times near and you ask about reschedule appointment if you see dates available according to your choice just book it previous appointment will automatically cancelled in the system and everytime you will receive email for appointment confirmation.
Hi Ajay,
Thank you very much. I really appreciate it. I was so worried about getting a date as early as possible, I didn't even think where I was scheduling the OFC and ended up getting the OFC like 1 month before the actual interview appointment. Thank you again.
-
Hello everyone, I made the appointment for both OFC and interview. I realized we could do the OFC in Delhi and thought about changing that appointment. But, I wanted to clarify something before I did that. When you guys say we can only change 4 times, does that mean 4 times for both OFC and Interview or it counts as two changes when you change both OFC an interview at one time, even if you don't change the OFC. if I am making sense. Or overall, each time we make a change either to OFC or interview, each attempt counts as one and we can do this only 4 times, meaning each time we get that confirmation is that one count or it counts as 2 one for OFC and one for the interview. I hope it is making sense as to what I am asking. Also, I was trying to see if earlier appointments were available for the interview, so I kept clicking on reschedule appointment and would change the OFC to go to the interview selection page but there were no dates available each time. Now the page where we choose the OFC appointment says you have reached the attempt limit almost and this time make your transaction. What does this mean? Will they block my ID now or what happens? Thank you for your help in advance.

Here is the letter that you will receive. Read over carefully and follow the instructions and also another member of VJ added some additional information contained below.

Once you received your case number from NVC, I would recommend you fill out DS-160 form and submit. Some say the packet 3 letter is nothing just waste of time same thing they have mention which you easily get from USCIS website when you called to the clinics to book your medical appointment date they will ask you have you received your packet letter or not. Just say yes and booked the appointment date however you will receive that letter within 2 weeks the day you will get your NVC number.
Go on USCIS website make your account with password and then pay your fees to Citibank or Axis bank. They will give you reference number. With that number you can book your biometric and interview appointment date. The fees are 18,500 and for medical but I recommend that you carry 20,000 with you in the event you need more. Be sure to keep at least 7 days gap between medical and interview.
Thank you very much. That's what I decided to do. I made the appointments and hoping the letter will come soon. Thank you again guys. I really appreciate it.
2 year green card 1-751 and N-400
in Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion

Hi Thank you so much. I was able to use e request option of USCIS and told them we had never received the 48 month extension letter. we got a reschedule of interview letter. We also found the 48 months letter, my husband had misplaced it. Sadly, my husband's father is in the ICU intubated, and doctors have said he won't survive. My father-in-law had been battling cancer, and my husband had just returned like 2 weeks ago from India after spending time with his father. I called the number on the N-400 interview letter to reschedule his N-400 interview so he could go to India to be with his father. His interview was scheduled for July 12th and his dad basically had septic shock and is alive on ventilator only. The lady said she submitted a request of reschedule which may take up to 30 days for them to reschedule. She said he could travel if he has the extension letter. Any suggestions?
