  1. I was handed over 221(g) and asked to submit my resume and my visa date was regressed. I did submit the doc and then waited couple of months for the visa to be current. I emailed them and got a passport request in a couple of days. Since then CAEC got updated once. Curious to know if passport request is only made after AP is completed and visa is ready to be issued or they return it with no visa as well.

Yeah, I would assume you would. So it's so weird. They're just a mess lol.

That could be possible, since we did pay a fee for it. But I don't know at this point lol! 😢

I still wonder why would Home deliveries be impacted since they're not through Canadapost I assume

Can you confirm that then that it is indeed an option to take your passport after the interview and send it back in?

We are running into the problem that my wife is waiting on a new drivers license and won't have ID to board her plane home. Extending the wait time for the Visa would suck but better than being stranded!

Generally if you're put in AP, your passport is returned but probably you can ask for the passport and request them that you'll send it later. They should be able to accept it

Yes you can request for the passport

  5. My visa was regressed and they also did ask for some documents which I sent to them. Since today is the day when my visa category is available, I emailed them and they responded to me in the same generic email. CAEC also got updated to today. I guess I should keep an estimate of 2-3 months as well and just wait for their email ? I've my passports so they've to request for the passports

    Good Afternoon,

    Thank you for contacting us.

Your case will be reviewed by the Visa Unit.

As soon as the review is complete, the Visa Unit will advise of the next steps in order to continue processing the case.

While we cannot predict when the processing of your visa will be completed, please be assured that the Consulate and the State Department are aware of your concerns and will contact you as soon as the processing is complete.

We realize that these extended time periods cause frustration to many individuals, and we are sensitive to the fact that the purpose of the immigrant visa program is to facilitate legitimate travel to the U.S.  Nonetheless, the Consulate in Montreal, like all U.S. Embassies and Consulates, must adjudicate visas in accordance with the provisions of the law, and, in some cases, this involves extensive consular review and administrative processing.

We hope that this information is helpful in replying to your inquiry.

Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

I am EB2 and my interview was August 17th in Montreal. The consular officer asked for my resume that shows education history, employment history and publications. They also requested my transcripts and have been sent by email. The CO told the review will take one month and then the passport will be requested and may take up to 3 months for visa issuance. My case get updated daily since I have done my interview but still under AP. I hope we hear soon and ask for my passport.

Interesting that they're updating it on daily basis. In my case it got updated once they recieved my docs. I've emailed them again once the date became current but waiting for their response for 2 weeks now

  7. This is the response I received via email after submitting documents. Does it means the documents are all good and I just need to wait for the date to be current or they'll review the documents once the date is current? It's an EB1A Application & they asked for my resume + master transcript. When I go to CAEC website, it shows Admin processing but case updated date is today

    Hello,

    Thank you for your inquiry.

The Immigrant Visa Unit acknowledges receipt of the documents for you and your family.

We regret to inform you that since the time of your interview and with the recent submission of your outstanding documents and passports, visa numbers for your visa category are no longer available. The annual limit for your visa category has been reached and your visa category is oversubscribed. We are unable to issue your visa at this time.

We will inform you once visa numbers are available again possibly at the beginning of the next fiscal year.

    Thank you for your cooperation.

We hope that this information is helpful in replying to your inquiry.

Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.
