  1. Maybe I'm making a bigger deal and stressing out too much. I'll properly be like this until it's over. On the I-129F petition and on her G-325A we didn't put Phnom Penh as the Province. I thought Phnom Penh was just the city. Didn't think Cambodia had any provinces. When we receive the packet 3 should we put Phnom Penh as the Province or leave it blank so it matches the I-129F and G-325A?

  2. I am so sorry to hear about her parents. Life in Cambodia is rough. I've heard all sorts of stories how people live and it's very dis hearting. I'm just glad we are able to give some a chance of a better future. Your wife will have a much better life here.

My fiancee is one of the luckier ones. Her family have members overseas that helps them out. They also fix phones and sell other items in front of their home. Otherwise, life would be rough. She is well educated in medical and British English. She's a full time student and helps with the family business every so often. She has a very bright future, especially here in America and I will personally see to it she succeeds. Right now I work in the networking field but once she comes over I plan on going back to school around her schudle of course and get my bachelor's degree in computer science.

  3. Thanks again. I was agonizing over that for the past few weeks since she showed me her passport. Made another trip to get engaged in Feburary 11th. Had it on DVD, guess book, photo albums, the whole nine yards. Engagement, not marriage.

Had to do something for her parents. Since your wife is Cambodian I'm sure you know what it means to them. Couldn't take her away without doing something like that.

  4. That's what I thought. She still have all the envolpes stamped in the US to show it got to her with no problem even from USA. While on the subject. What do you put as province? I thought you left it blank or some said "Phnom Penh" and some MeanChey. Cambodia has some confusing addresses.

I think I'll have them mail me the instructions. Didn't realize that was possible. Thanks for the tip.

  5. Congrats.

I think the next step is to wait for a letter from the NVC with the case number. If you didn't receive it 2 weeks after your NOA2 give them a call. Than give it a few more weeks and call the US Embassy in Venezuela a call to make sure they receive your petition.

The Embassy than mails a package to your Fiance with instructions. Your fiance is to fill out the forms and get all the paperwork ready and mail it back to the Embassy. The Embassy than sends another package to your fiance with the Interview date. Uncertain of the medial exam thou but heard varies consulte to consulte but the instruction should tell you. Someone please correct me if I am mistaken.

  6. Overseas address is:

House Number, Street Number, Sangkat Chak Angre leu, Khan MeanChey, Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

When we filled the form out and her G-325A we forgot to put the word "Chak". I just copy/paste what she sent over. The thing is, the locals mainly look at the House Number and Street Number, and city and know where it is. Meaning if the US Embassy sends the package to what we put on the records it'll arrive to her with no problem at all. I can even send packages to her from the US which I've done numberous times with no problem. English is not the native language nor do they use the alpha numberic system and few can understand English. Businesses even writes their addresses differently but all package arrives to them fine. On her Passport it has the word "Chak" on it.

Is this something I should be worried about? If so, how do I/we have it change before the interview date. I haven't receive my case from the NVC yet but expecting it soon. I would think of emailing the US Embassy, sending them a letter, and also have my fiance send them a letter to make that change. Or am I worrying too much? I can understand if it's a person's name to look it over carefully but do they really check and verify if the spelling on addresses matches up overseas? I want to make the corrections before the Interview date. Any advise please. Any forms I need to fill out? Any fee?

  7. I wished I was this lucky in finding a translator. But, the US Embassy told me that they will only accept documents that has been translated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. No other bodies may translate the certificate. I ended up paying about 200 dollars.
I'm assuming you meant the US Embassy in Phnom Penh right? I was always under the impression as long as the person doing the translation signs a document they're fluent in Cambodian and English it doesn't matter.

Holly cow. I guess I better have my fiance get her birth certificate translated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

  8. Congrats. I can't tell you how glad I am to see this. I got my approval notice a few days after you so I'm in the same situation you are, same country anyways. Please keep us posted on how it goes with the NVC and especially the US Embassy in Phnom Penh as it's only recently they're doing the interview there.

Once again congrats and speedy process. I know we're both be reunited with our love ones soon.

  9. That form is optional. I did the exact same thing and got approved. As long as you have "copies of documents submitted are exact photocopies of unaltered documents etc...." and signed it it makes all your copies "certified". Get ready for a long and stressful wait. You're be second guessing yourself and stress out. It's out of your hands now so take it easy.

Best luck to you and have a speedy process.

  10. Congrats. When I saw the email from USCIS I held my breath for about 30 seconds. I was shaken thinking I would get a RFE since only 1 email came in during normal business hours to. From past post by others they received 4 or 5 that their petition was approved after hours. Thank God it was an approval notice. Feels great but I must now start reading about the next step.

After I celebrate first of course.

To everyone at VJ thank you so much and I wish you all a speedy process with sucess.
