  1. Morning everyone! well...afternoon

JG...that camel pic is a classic! I've never rode a camel before. Horse, elephant, yeah...but no camels. Where was that at?

    Happy Anniversary KK!

Hey Jamerican! Good to see you :luv:

About the whole charity thing...I LOVE philanthropic work...I studied cultural anthropolgy in college and my minor was in nonprofit leadership

I started a charity back in 2006. Every year we send a barrell of school supplies and give them out. We go to a park in my district to distribute the supplies and have other things such as food, games, and a bounce house. This has been the work of my family as well as some of my close friends. Right now I'm working on getting 501c3 status so that people who donate can get tax write offs...that way we can get business sponsorships. I tried to get free shipping from a barrell company and the first thing they asked for was the 501c3 status

Sending the supplies is another thing...the customs dept will think you are going to sell them so you have to apply for a waiver of duty from the Minister of Finance (Audley Shaw). It wasn't hard for me because him and my late uncle were close friends.

We've also adopted a primary school. The principal is a friend of the family. It helps when you know people involved because there is more credibility and it is easier to track where the donated funds are going.

If anyone has any questions about starting a nonprofit, etc, feel free to PM me

If we start one just from members of the thread...count me in

Me either...I dont even have a heart :crying:

  6. Hey Journee...to file for the CR1 you have to be married. After approval your husband will be able to file for a SSN and work. He'll also be allowed to leave the country for travel...if you were married at least 2 years upon approval, he'll get a 10-year green card (IR1)...if you were married for less than two years upon approval he'll get a 2-year green card...i think thats the jist of it (somebody correct me if i'm wrong)

  7. Lance and I have known each other for 5 years. Our families know each other...my mom went to school with his father. I already know about the culture/his element because I am from there. I wasn't concerned about making visits because before our relationship began I was already making 2-3 visits a year to see family and for business reasons. Wechose to do the CR1 because we would like for him to be able to work when he gets here and to be able to travel back in case of an emergency and although I miss him like hell and wish he was here with me right now, I'm in no rush because we have the rest of our lives together.....so the choice on which visa to file for is definetly a personal one. :star:

  8. JG....my mom was tellin me about glistening waters. i really wanna check it out. its a lagoon so the water shouldnt be too deep (mi fraid fi drown)

Lawny....thanks for the review. i'm not looking for a 5 star place..just somewhere to relax for a few days. i hope there's a conference so they can move us to a cottage

Sus...location isnt really a factor. just need a decently priced place. lance and i will be celebrating out bday month

my cousin hired an au pair..this girl from columbia. she has the money to pay so i guess more power to her. but she likes having someone there to help and the girl teaches her kids spanish which is a benefit living here in FL
