Does anyone know if the interviewer can speak Japanese? I know I am not allowed to enter or wait with my wife at the Embassy. I just want to know if it is possible to have a Japanese interpreter during the interview. It would release a lot of stress on wife since she doesn't speak English.

Hi ,
I also got similar interview date.
And I input my husband name wrongly lol
I think you can inform that at the interview and they can make corrections.
After your interview, would you please share how it is about that.
Have a great weekend
When is your interview?

Don't do anything. If they ask, you said it's a mistake and the name should spell so and so. That's it. It's a non-issue.
Thanks for the quick response. I see. I will follow their instructions if they ask. I hope everything will go smoothly.

My spouse has an interview coming up soon at the US embassy. I was printing out the documents and I just noticed that I misspelled one of my in-law's first name on the translation and on the DS-260 form. This is a honest mistake. How can I fix this? Can I write a letter explaining the error and have my spouse to take to the interview to correct things? Will this error hold us back or cause any delay?
-
I need some advice if anyone can help. I am looking over the documents before the interview and I just realized that I mistranslated the first name of my mother in law... I made the same typo on the DS-260... Does anyone have any advice if this can be fixed without any issues if we were to resubmit the correction translation and inform them to correct the DS-260 on the interview day?

I received the interview date, finally. My wife will go in for the interview on November 4th. I thought the interview would be much later in November. I didn't think it would be so soon... I don't know if we will get the medical results in time before the interview. Does anyone know if you can send the medical results at a later date after the interview? Also, did anyone get an interpreter for their interview? My wife doesn't speak English.

I also wait for the interview date since our documentary qualified last week of September. If Ryu 55 doesn’t receive anything, so do I .....lol
Let me know if you receive a date for your interview since we're both waiting roughly at the same time.

I wouldn't worry just yet. Like I said it's likely that because you were DQed later in the month your interview date got pushed into the November block. The NVC is won't contact you until the consolate schedules your interview and they only schedule one month at a time. I wouldn't be surprised if you are notified by next Friday or the following Monday.
Yeah, you're probably right. Thanks for the quick reply.

Did you get the "Documentarily Qualified" aka case complete email from the NVC, or just a notice in CEAC that your documents were accepted?
It was 11 days from when we submitted our IV package to when the NVC declared us Documentarily Qualified and another 8 days until we received the interview letter, so a total of 19 days. I'd say 3-4 weeks would still be a reasonable time frame to expect an interview date. Tokyo schedules interviews for the next month out so if you got your DQ notice towards the latter half of the month your date could have been pushed back. I don't think it's been long enough to be overly concerned. For what it's worth, we received our interview date email at 4:55pm EDT on Friday, 4/19/2019.
Yes, I did receive the "Documentarily Qualified" email from the NVC on 9/20. I am expecting the interview will be held in November or possible December, but I haven't heard anything since 9/20...

Does anyone know how long it takes to get the interview date? My documents were approved three weeks ago, and I haven't heard anything from the National Visa Center about the interview date. I am a little concerned that it shouldn't take this long to schedule one...

yeah thats what i was wondering too. do i need all those documents submitted online, like original signed I-864? if so, i need to ask my husband and my father in law to send them to me which takes a while.
Yes, you will need the originals to bring with you. It is also stated in the instructions on the CEAC's website.

Although you can technically set the appointment, they won’t accept you unless you get the package and send them back the required documents. So I would wait for the package, or set the appointment month or so + ahead which you can change later. Meanwhile you can finish up the medical.
I received an email from the National Visa Center last week stating that my wife's immigration visa application and documents are in order to proceed to the next step. I am currently waiting to hear back from about the interview date. I am just wondering what package you are referring to in your post. Should I be expecting something by postal mail?
I understand that I am supposed to bring the original documents that we had to submit online. If I am missing anything, any advice would be grateful.
Thanks!

Correct. You filed for an immediate relative and are a USC, so your petition does not allow derivatives. But that's fine as only your wife (the primary beneficiary) is immigrating.
It's just a note that you can't include others using the same petition.
Thanks for quick reply! I can rest a little easy then.

I got this message from the National Visa Center regarding the DS-260 form, but I am not sure what it means exactly. Can someone help explain this message means, and what I should do? We currently live abroad and both my son and I are US citizens. I am trying to get immigration visa for my wife.
The petition you have filed does not allow derivative status for family members. This means that any spouse, unmarried child under age 21, or parent will require his or her own petition to immigrate. For more information on how to submit a new visa petition, go to https://www.uscis.gov.
Thanks!

I am trying to upload my documents onto the CEAC website, and I understand that I have keep the file size under 2MBs. I tried to combined all my 1040 forms from 2016 to 2018 into one PDF, but the file size is 6MB. Does anyone know if it is okay to upload each separately? I have a total of 30 pages. Any advice will be appreciated.

The photos they are asking for is a scan of the passport-style photo of your spouse. Just a scan of the single photo will be good.
For the police certificate, just upload a scan of the front and back of the sealed envelope. Keep it sealed and bring it to the interview as requested.
We did not include any other extra civil documents besides what were required.
Awesome! Thanks for the quick reply! This is a straight forward process then.

Your daughter will be moving to the USA, not immigrating as she is a USC.
Your household size is 3. You have the beneficiary, who is your spouse (do not count anyone twice) and a child.
You can include foreign assets is you want but if they dont put you over the poverty guidelines for assets, it may be more trouble than it's worth.
Yes your SIL should still do an I-864a because regardless any financial burden would also fall on her and they likely file their taxes as marrief filing jointly.
So you did it wrong and they corrected it at your interview. Cool beans. Edit: sorry your wife's interview, both if them.
Thanks for the info. I forgot to mention that my brother's wife filed their taxes separately.

Thanks for your inputs everyone! I appreciate any advice or help I can get!
16 hours ago, geowrian said:* Moved from Tax & Finance t IR-1/CR-1 Progress & Procedures. The question is about the I-864 to obtain an immigrant visa for a spouse of a USC (per OP's previous posts) *
If the income will not continue form the same source upon return to the US, then the qualifying income is $0.
If you do not reside together at the time the I-864A is presented, then he wouldn't qualify for an I-864A. He would need to provide an I-864 as a joint sponsor instead.
Thanks for your input. This does make more sense now. I will ask him to fill out the I-864 form and send me all the related documents with it.
13 hours ago, pushbrk said:Correct, but since the petitioner's income is $0 he/she has nothing to combine with anybody. Joint sponsor and petitioner do separate I-864 forms. If Joint sponsor is married, his spouse provides an I-864a whether she has income, OR whether her income is required to qualify.
My brother is married, but no kids. He makes more than 100k. Do I need to have his wife to fill out the I-864A form too?
It seems that the more I read the instructions, the more confusing this form gets. I would be grateful if anyone can clear these things up for me. I am looking back at Part 3 (Information about the Immigrants You Sponsoring) at the moment, and I wondering if I need to include my two year daughter since she is technically also will be immigrating to the US with my wife?? My daughter is a US citizen since I filed the birth abroad. If I include her and my wife, the total number at the end of Part 3 is 2 people for Part 3 #29. I hope my understanding is correct?
For Part 5 (Sponsor's Household Size), I put 2 for Question #1 and 1 for #2. Everything is zero except #3 but I am married??
For Part 6, my wife has a part-time job, but since she has a foreign income, the current income is zero.
I guess I have to fill out Part 7 since I don't meet the Poverty Guildlines, do I convert my foreign savings into US dollars? I have some savings in my US account, but it is still not enough to meet the Poverty Guildlines though. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hello. I need some advice on the Affidavit of Support.
I am currently working in Japan at the moment, so I am wondering if I am supposed to put $0.00 as my current individual annual income for Part 6 #7 on the I-864 Affidavit of Support? I read somewhere that my foreign income doesn't count. I just want to make sure.
I am also somewhat confused about Part 5 #7. I am not sure if I understand this question correctly.
Part 5 #7 asks, "If you have a siblings, parents, or adult children with the same principal residence who are combining their income with yours by submitting Form I-864A, enter the number here." My brother will be my joint sponsor and we plan to live together once my wife and I move back to the US. Do I tick the box here and ask him to fill out the I-864A form or should he fill out the I-864 form instead?
Thanks in advance!

My case was sent to NVC on May 6th. Perhaps I should be getting a case number by the end of next week?

My wife went here. She was told that to reschedule the interview as the results can take up two weeks to deliver. I don't remember how long it took exactly, but it came around 10 days or so. I would reschedule the interview just to be safe.
