  1. Can someone please confirm that after the interview this is still the site you track green card developments? https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/mycasestatus.do;jsessionid=87B40A8E25BF2D7CBAB6755A052175FB

Just FYI we had our aos interview today and everything went smoothly except they said that because they took my husbands medical packet coming through immigration and a lot of times do not send these documents to USCIS he will need to do another medical examination and just send it in before green card approval.

Going by what you've said, it seems pretty clear your physical address is in Santa Barbara, and your husband's is Tampa. Visiting somewhere on alternate weekends, or owning a home elsewhere doesn't change where you actually reside.

Thank you for your input but this doesn't actually help me to know which office is the better one to keep our interview at.

For AOS from a K-1, no matter where in the US you live, you apply to the Chicago lockbox. Your application is initially processed at the National Benefits Center in Missouri (again, regardless of where you live).

Your biometrics appointment will be at the application support center that covers your physical address (see https://egov.uscis.gov/office-locator/#/asc , search by your zip code)

Your interview will be at the field office that covers your physical address ( see https://www.uscis.gov/about-us/find-uscis-office/field-offices ) unless it's moved to another nearby office to resolve backlogs

There is no way to change your field office except by changing where you actually live and informing USCIS of this.

Your official residence on file with USCIS has to be where you actually live, which sounds like it's near LA. When you move, you have to report this to USCIS within ten days (and should notify USPS). When you report you change of address, they should change the field office associated with your case to the one that covers your new address. Sometimes USCIS isn't great about handling address changes, but there's not a lot you can do about it except confirming they have your new address on file and with some luck, having someone friendly at your old address who can check for mail incorrectly delivered there (since some USCIS mail is not supposed to be forwarded by USPS).

Also, LA doesn't have great processing times, and Tampa is quite fast, but LA is nowhere near the worst (which appears to be SF now by VJ averages).

Well physical address is complicated. Since mine during the week is in California, his is in Florida and on the weekends, it just depends on who is travelling for that weekend. Eventually both of ours will be in Florida. We applied Nov. 2. We have EAD already ( obviously since he is working as a resident). All the numbers around ours have already been processed for an interview.. I am not sure why ours hasn't. We are at 238 since it stated case is ready to be scheduled for an interview. Our address in California is in Santa Barbara, so I assume that the nearest office is LA and that is where we are waiting for. Not sure if that is Los Angeles or LA County because both are options on the processing times. I really don't have any idea if we should go through the trouble of changing the physical address to Tampa or not or if we are supposed to. Again,  we kind of both have two physical addresses at the moment.

  4. Question: My husband is doing his residency near Tampa Florida, I am still working in California for another 5 months. We applied in the office in California (I assume Los Angeles since this is the closet office). We bought a house in Tampa and have just been flying back and forth every weekend or every other weekend to spend time together until I move there. Should we change the application office we are applying to Tampa instead of Los Angeles? Would this delay us more or speed us up since I assume LA has one of the worst application timelines? What do you guys think?

  5. Random question.. my husband got his medical residency in Florida and I still am staying in California for another six months because I have a great job here. We bought a house together in Florida and have been traveling every other weekend to be with each other. Is this a problem if we get our green card interview and are still in this position? In other words living in California and Florida for work but traveling constantly to be with each other?
