Right, that’s exactly what I am asking. We know it takes weeks before we can get it but I have job interview lined up this week.

Like the person who responded to you said, they don’t ask for the SSN until you are hired/during your first week of working. You were able to get job interviews lined up for the week just fine without it apparently, so perhaps this is a question better posed to the employers who are interviewing you rather than people on this forum. It’s one of those questions that’s too specific and has too many gray areas. Just a tip maybe to make your life easier.

  2. Hello just updating our status, we got notification today that our interview was scheduled finally after NOA1 on May 23rd.

We had separate biometrics for the EAD and the I-485.

Biometrics for the EAD was July 29 and bio for the I-485 was on September 11.

things moved pretty quickly after the second biometrics, we got notification that case was ready to be scheduled for interview exactly one week after the biometrics appointment and then one week later, today case was updated to interview scheduled. I use the case tracker app.

Still have not received any updates about the EAD since doing biometrics for it, but now that we have interview scheduled we don’t really care about that.

Now we will wait for the notice in the mail with the date!

  3. Hello everyone,

Just preparing our AOS packet and hope to have it shipped out in a couple days.

The only thing I’m really concerned about is the affidavit of support. I have read on the forums as well as the official instructions that you should either submit a copy of the 2018 1099/1040 forms and 2018 W2 OR your official IRS tax transcript. And that if you submit the 1099/1040 forms/W2, then you should NOT also include a copy of your official IRS transcript as that could convolute things.

But then I read someone say that they heard if you DON’T submit a copy of the IRS tax transcript, you are running a huge risk?

Anyone have any insight on this? I’m so unsure of what exactly to send!

    Thank you!

  4. Hello,

i have a question if anyone is familiar with the Sydney Australia consulate or just in general:

My fiancé has his interview February 12. I completed my 2018 taxes using H&R Block website a couple weeks ago and I’m not sure the official IRS transcript will be ready by the 12th. Do you think it would be ok to have him take along my completed tax transcript that I print directly from H&R Block website, along with of course my w2, pay stubs, etc.? I just don’t know if we have enough time.

  5. Hi, this is my first post here but just wanted to say we randomly checked and found out we were just approved today!!

The new website actually hasn’t updated yet, it still just says received, it’s the case tracker app that updated and the older website has also updated to say approved.

    Our NOA1 was June 11th/14th.

    NOA2 December 17th.

Now to await the NVC stage/Sydney interview.

  6. Hello everyone,

I just joined this website as I am about to embark on my K1 visa journey. If this is in the wrong spot I apologize in advance, but I really need some answers!

I am the American who plans to bring my fiance over from Australia. I graduated from college last June, and was living with him in Australia from August 2017 to early February this year and then moved back to the states alone. I started a job this month (March) which will pay me $34,000 per year, which is well over the income requirement. However, the past 3 years I have been a student/working sporadically and made FAR LESS than the income requirement, like laughably so. I have read a lot of articles/forums which state that most recent year is what counts the most, but I have heard of people being denied for their sponsor not being at their job long enough. So, my questions:

    1. Should we arrange to wait until early 2019 for him to have his interview at the Australian consulate so that I will be able to provide my 2018 tax documents? (which would mean I should wait to start the whole process for a few months?) Or should I file ASAP to be able to have the interview later this year (assuming that the initial process only takes 6-8 months) and then just provide my pay stubs from when I started the job?

    2. When I do eventually fill out the I-864 and my fiance presents it at the interview after the current tax year is over, will it matter to the officer that the 2 years before I was making enough money, I was making way below the requirement? Even if I made well above the most recent year?

    3. Even if I have made enough for the most recent year,  am I still able to plan to have a joint sponsor fill out an I-864 and have my fiance bring it with him to the interview? I only ask because I have read conflicting things online, some people saying that you should only have a joint sponsor prepared if you clearly made below the income requirement for most recent year. BUT I would be tempted to have one prepared anyway, since my previous years income was so low.

    4. Is there any chance that anyone here has had experiences with the consulate in Sydney, Australia? I cannot find anything online about their particular requirements.

I hope these questions made sense, thanks!
