Hello, is there a discussion thread on this website about the downsides of NOT applying for citizenship while holding GC for so many years?  For example, if i decided to apply for citizenship 10 years later, would this situation make it much more difficult? Does anyone want to share his thoughts?

@starsky they must reuse my biometric info, otherwise they would have scheduled an appointment to collect it. But I didn't receive the waiver notice like most of you did though.

One of the speakers was a case immigration officer. I asked him if it was advisable to apply for Citizenship when the window opens even if the applicant had pending I-751, and he said that it was.  He also mentioned that they will try to schedule both interviews for the same day. 

  

I thought that would be interesting information to share since many of us are thinking of applying with pending I-751. It's always nice to get a green light from someone who is actually familiar with the process in depth.

 

Also, if there is people in the Tampa Bay Area who need help with getting ready for the Interview and the Civics test, there is plenty of people and organizations who are helping and are actively engaged in making sure that soon-to-be-citizens will pass the interview successfully. One of my professors at school is one of them. I will be happy to direct you to someone.

thank you @starsky!!. i would have been stuck in the old portal forever if i didn't see your post. It is so unprofessional USCIS doesn't tell us they have a new site.

Same situation for me and the USCIS agents aren't very helpful... i plan to schedule an appointment from the local field office. Thoughts?

lululola, may i ask why do you need a second biometric check? it looks most people here got a waiver. Did USCIS collect it when you apply for your 2 year greencard?

For those of you who have received the biometrics waiver from USCIS, what is your current case status if you check it on USCIS website https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/mycasestatus.do? 

Mine still says "My Case Status does not recognize the receipt number entered."

It looks USPS lost my mail. Informed delivery says i have a mail from USCIS on 5/12 and still I haven't seen it in my mailbox.... I contacted USPS and they told me to wait 7 days..

Did anyone ask why California service center takes much longer than Vermont?

ROC package mailed out at USPS on 2/12/2018 and arrived at california service center on 2/13/2018. NOA noticed received in mail on 2/16/2018. Still waiting for biometrics appointment notice.
