  1. It's blatant incompetence. A process that use to take a couple of months now takes 2+ years minimum. The fact they expect you to be available every single day of the year despite not being able to provide an interview within a reasonable timeframe should warrant a civil lawsuit against them based on how they treat PRs.
  2. Waiting 2+ years at this points is pretty common for ROC. I filed back in September 2020 and I'm still waiting.
  3. Don't get played, have it finalized first before you co-sponsor anything. As you're familiar with it due to your own process, you can't get out of it so easily. At that point, drop her and move on with your life.
  4. That sounds like a commitment to a life of misery. As someone who filed for divorce, I basically let my ex-husband (the sponsor) keep most of our belongings just to get rid of him out of my life. Would she not do a simplified divorce? Perhaps there's a compromise to be made? Offer to co-sponsor her parents provided she agrees to a divorce on your terms?
  5. The main question is why would you sign it? If you feel like you got scammed, why not just part ways and get divorced? For you to sign an I-864 relating to her parents, it would be as a co-sponsor, as your wife would be the primary petitioner.
  6. Nearly at 27 months since I initially applied for ROC. Never anticipated it taking this long, pretty ridiculous.
  7. That makes no sense. By the time the interview rolls around, there could be a gap of over 3 years between filing and meeting with a USCIS agent. Most people by that point have already moved on, live in different states, different jobs, different relationships. Specific details will be lost to time, and most people will feel less sour about bad relationships in the past. The real reason is because USCIS operates incompetently. It's a government agency burdened by bureaucracy. (The only thing they do with competence is cashing your check). It's time to abolish 2 year conditional green cards and add more checks before 10 year green cards are approved. USCIS needs new guidelines because this process is clearly not working. ROC use to take 3-6 months, now takes a minimum of 2 years+ in most cases. That's a disgrace.
  8. Package arrived today, shipped by UPS. The stamp arrived on an CBP I-94 card, like below. Valid till 10/26/2023. Came with an accompanying letter from the USCIS Fort Myers field office. Honestly I don't know if it's because of the hurricane, or maybe the office is just overwhelmed with appointments? But I also live in Orlando, so it's weird I received the letter from Fort Myers too.
  9. It's being mailed as signed UPS shipping. Arrival date is tomorrow by 7PM. I'm also equally as confused, maybe it could be related to the hurricane in FL?
  10. I'll be sure to keep you updated! I also live in Orlando, which is an incredibly busy field office. So who knows.
  11. Request for a stamp if you plan on leaving the country and waiting is all you can really do. It still says normal processing time is up to 31 months on the USCIS website. I'm nearly at 26 months myself.
  12. So I contacted USCIS to request a stamp because my extension letter expires Dec 18th and I'm leaving country on Dec 16th. About 4 days later I spoke to a representative with USCIS and they said I don't need to go to the office and they'll mail it to my address? Is this new? I got a confirmation email saying USCIS has granted your request and created temporary evidence of your legal status on the Form I-94 with a temporary I-551 stamp. Still waiting for it to arrive in the mail, but just wanted to ask if this is a policy change? I've never heard of it before and thought you had to go to the office in all circumstances.
  13. I have 60 days left on my extension letter so I called today. You have to wait up to 30 days for someone to reach out, so it's crazy that they would expect you to call 30 days before it expires.
  14. I didn't use a lawyer at any stage and I don't have the original laptop anymore. I might have to look over everything and it might show up somewhere. But FOIA might have to be the option as a last resort.
  15. I might have to sue him, I don't need it for the ROC.
  16. Is there a way to retrieve the I-864 form from USCIS years after filing? I managed to login to the consular website where the original documents were uploaded, but it doesn't allow me to view the document anymore. I was approved for CR1 back in 2018, and currently in the process of removing my conditions. My divorce was finalized back in Oct 2020 but I can't seem to find the documents I need regarding the financial affidavit of support.
  17. My 2 year extension letter expires Dec 18th but I'm leaving the country on a cruise Dec 16th. Should I call now to schedule one? I live in Orlando so it's a pretty busy office. Isn't USCIS legally obligated to issue you one if requested?
  18. You said you're working on your marriage, so the main question is do you want a divorce or not? If the answer is yes, then you need to finalize the process because you'll need the divorce decree to remove the conditions on your green card with a waiver. if you want to genuinely stay in your marriage, you'll have to refile. I don't recommend staying in your marriage because your spouse is making it difficult, that'll just give her future leverage when it comes to your interview. I've been in a toxic situation like this myself and I pushed for the divorce.
  19. I'm sorry you have to go through that. My ex husband actually offered to stay married during my removal of conditions process, I refused and filed for divorce. I wasn't going to let him have anymore control over my life at that point. I've been divorced 2 years now so the whole "waiting for an interview" is ridiculous. I hope things work out for you soon.
  20. Personally I think USCIS should get rid of the draconic process of removing conditions. I filed to remove my conditions 25 months ago, it just makes them look highly incompetent.
  21. N/A is always going to be the safest bet if you are concerned that the person reviewing your documents might think you forgot to fill in a box. And yes, you leave everything above 'START HERE" blank.
  22. Thanks, good to know. Mine expires December 18th but I'm on a cruise from 16th-19th and then 19th-24th.
