But I'm a bit surprised at the DMV requirement. Oh well.

And the certificate's back. My social security card was updated not too long after I got my green card, and doesn't say anything about employment authorization per INS anymore, so I assume it doesn't need an update. So I think that's that!

Yep, they are very restricted on the writing and reading tests. Most of their English assessment will come from simply talking to you through the course of the interview, but they have lists of terms that they can use for the writing and reading tests, and they are tiny.
For the reading test, they will show you a sentence on the tablet screen and ask you to read it out.
For the writing test, the interviewer will tell you what to write, and then you will do so on the tablet screen using the crappy stylus they have.

Have not received passport yet, but I got mail from the Department of State this morning saying it was done and mailed, and I have a tracking number. They say I should get it by 4/20; I sure hope it won't take that long!

Yep... I just went to registertovote.ca.gov and put in my details and that was that. I didn't try to track it at the time, but I saw the link to voterstatus.sos.ca.gov and checked, and I'm listed. I don't think there's a rush to register to vote, though; maybe I'm a bad new citizen, but I don't think there are any elections coming up soon...?
I think you're worrying a bit too much! Unless you're looking to travel soon, though, in which case, you definitely should check with the NPIC if you don't show up after ten days.

The debit from my bank account showed up today.
I paid the USPS acceptance and photo fees by credit card.
I'd give it a few more days before writing them or calling, but that would probably be your next step if your application doesn't show up.

Nope... I'm only trackable at passportstatus.state.gov now; I don't have the passport yet.
Looks like people generally go trackable within a few days of submission, so it doesn't seem any faster than anyone else.

The short history is that my oath ceremony was on 3/13 in Oakland, CA but due to the 1000+ new citizens present, I opted not to bother applying there.
It took awhile to find time and schedule an appointment at USPS, but now I'm waiting.

Paramount Theatre in Oakland. It's just across the street from the nearest 19th St Oakland BART station exit, between 20th and 21st on Broadway. Nice place. As calberry pointed out, though, parking's annoying.

The one I got on Wednesday had Trump's signature, and they also played a video of Trump welcoming the new citizens. And this was in Oakland, CA... that said, they did have 1000+ people there, so they probably go through the welcome letters pretty quickly!

So the ceremony came and went, and I'm now a US citizen! I didn't stick around to submit a passport app afterward, though, so I'm going to have to drop by the post office sometime.

I was reading that USCIS is even more backed up now than last year. Just a bit upset that we all have to deal with this..
I had about one month of notice for my interview (letter dated 12/21/18, saw it when I got back from vacation on 12/31/18, interview scheduled for 01/28/19). And the letter will be visible on my.uscis.gov.
So if you're worried about the letter arriving during your vacation, I'd say just check online every few days or so.
If you're worried about the letter arriving before your vacation and the interview happening in the middle of it, you can send the letter back requesting a later date. They do warn that it will delay your case, but I don't think that's a huge surprise.

I checked this morning and the oath ceremony letter is now visible. It's March 13 at the Paramount Theater in Oakland.
Regarding the activity questions: there's a questionnaire in the oath letter that you have to complete and bring to the ceremony along with the other stuff they ask for. It's pretty much asking you if you've done any of a number of things since your interview. For each item, it says that if you say "yes", you need to bring documents to support it, like a marriage certificate or an arrest record. These are the questions:
1. Since your interview, have you married, or been widowed, separated or divorced? Yes No
2. Since your interview, have you traveled outside the United States? Yes No
3. Since your interview, have you knowingly committed any crime or offense, for which you have not been arrested? Yes No
4. Since your interview, have you been arrested, cited, charged, indicted, convicted, fined, or imprisoned for breaking
or violating any law or ordinance, including traffic violations? Yes No
5. Since your interview, have you joined, become associated, or connected with any organization in any way,
including the Communist Party, a totalitarian organization, or terrorist group? Yes No
6. Since your interview, have you deserted from, claimed exemption from, or been separated or discharged from
military service? Yes No

The state governor is simply listed as "Answers will vary" on the 100 list because it'll be different for each state.
That said, one thing that did change was who is the speaker of the house.

The first question is indeed in the 100. One thing I wasn't sure about was the fact some of the questions have multiple answers. Some of them ask for one of or two of the following (which is good, as one of them asks for a single American Indian tribe and there are probably twenty of them listed) while others just simply have multiple (e.g. "what does the Constitution do", "what does the Supreme Court do"). In the case of the latter, I have no idea if they want all of the answers or just one, so I studied as if they wanted all of them. As it is, the one I listed is pretty simple; one of the answers is just "to be loyal to the US", and another one is to "drop all loyalty to foreign powers".
USCIS online had not been updated when I checked after the interview. I had a look tonight and I have:

Not sure what to make of both, but I'm hoping I'll hear of an oath date sooner rather than later.

Had my interview appointment today at 630 Sansome with a very nice (surprisingly so!) officer.
I'm used to entering the building on the Washington St side, but this time, I found it locked; when I pulled on the door, a guard opened it and told me I needed to go in on the Sansome side instead.
Went to the 2nd floor, checked in, clerk told me to go to the 3rd floor. I think I had been sitting there no more than 5 minutes when my name was called. (So this would have been about 15 to 20 minutes early!)
The officer had me read out a sentence ("Name the state with the most people") and then write out its answer ("California is the state with the most people").
He then asked me these 6 questions:
- What is one promise you make when you become a United States citizen?
- Who is the governor of your state now?
- Where is the Statue of Liberty?
- Name two national U.S. holidays.
- What movement tried to end racial discrimination?
- Who was the first president?
We then went through the rest of my app and he checked out my travel history (Canada didn't put stamps into my passport most of the time, heh, and I made some trips last year after applying), work history (I changed jobs last year), and then ran me through all the "no" questions (e.g. "are you a terrorist").
I'd brought a ton of documentation to justify not doing Selective Service (I didn't get my permanent residency until after the age of 26) and also to justify my wife's citizenship, but he basically took my verbal statements as testimony and left it at that. (He had me take an oath of truthfulness in the beginning.)
At the end, he had me sign a couple of things including the amendments to the application, then printed out a piece of paper that said I've been recommended for approval! He also said I should see a letter in 3-6 weeks saying what oath ceremony to go to.
So now the wait for that last piece of paper!

Yup, exactly the same letter. I imagine it got posted there first, but I am pretty sure I never looked over the holidays!

Their site says that processing is proceeding as normal because this is funded by the application fees we pay, not by the government budget. Or something like that.

Estimated case completion time is still "February 2019 (1 month)". There's no estimated wait time now; it says "We scheduled your interview" with no date.
Status on egov is: "On December 21, 2018, we scheduled an interview for your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, Receipt Number IOExxx. We will mail you an interview notice. Please follow any instructions in the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address."

My "Estimated wait time" has been doing a daily countdown (started at 30 days) and now says 20 days so hopefully it's accurate. My "Estimated case completion time" says "February 2019 (2 months)"
Well, I didn't check it for awhile, then went away for the holiday, and came back and found a nice shiny interview appointment letter in my mailbox today. I presume it was delivered yesterday as my mother-in-law (who was watching over the place) said she had been picking up mail regularly. And the notice date on the letter is... 12/21, exactly 7 day from when I said "7 days" on 12/14. It's like clockwork, it seems!
Anyway, interview is scheduled for 1/28. Gonna put 12/21 in for the letter date despite it not actually arriving until 12/31.

My wife's CA DL has an expiration date and she was born here.
I also searched the DMV site a bunch for anything to do with citizenship and only came up with documents you need to get your initial license and stuff relating to the Real ID thing.
So I'm pretty firmly inclined to think I don't need to do anything. My license expires later this year anyhow!
