I agree with Angel you have to be as transparent as possible 😏
-
Didn’t mean to put the sad face lol
yeah by the time you’ll be approve it will be more than 3 years as a green card holder then u can apply for your citizenship
i think it’s 5 years as a green card holder than u can apply for citizenship
-
And it seems like Vermont Service Center is faster than the California one
-
Yup Marco&bettina . I just said they will be approved in like 2 or 3 weeks since it’s been almost a year already
Angel please keep us updated

I think that’s why they asked for more evidences.
What I meant by the lease, my husband and I don’t own a house neither we rent an apartment, if you live with family members you can always explain why you don’t have a lease with both names on. Or if u are living with your in laws or the spouse’ s in laws. They want to know because husband and wife or same sex couples should live together since they are married.
-
Well when u get the letter of extension that’s mean you are approved but they can require more evidences if they don’t think it’s enough to prove a bona fide marriage
most likely they don’t ask for an interview neither unless they think it’s a fraudulent marriage. Make sure u fill up ur application right because if it’s not file properly they will deny it right away
-
The letter just give you an additional year where you remain a green card holder
iam going to France in May so I just bring my expired green card and the letter and everything will be fine
yes it good as well for employment:)
i am waiting for my biometrics appointment which I hope will come before I go !
My husband is 1099 as well make sure you put the lease of ur place with your evidences
-
-
Hey Angel did you put a lease for ur place with both names on it.?
-
Oh by the way you can read the thread with I-751 evidences
I seen a lot of people who didn’t include any affidavits but just put pics, and extra receipts for trips, cards they sent to their spouses for special occasions or anniversaries etc..... and lease with both names on, bank statements ( with detailed transactions) utilities bills and other papers
good luck
-
Hey Alessa,
i didnt put any affidavits in my application at all, I didn’t even put one pic!
thats because I included the birth certificate of 2 children ( one of which was born early 2017 )
the bills don’t need to have both names on but as long as they go to the same residence it’s good. I put the Con Edison bill which is in my name and the gas bill that’s in my husband’s name as they both go to the same adress.
If u include your tax return filed jointly make sure u put the W2 with it otherwise they will ask for more evidence.
Just include any tickets or receipts from trips together
you should be fine
-
Hi,
same for me when I filled up my application they asked about if I lived anywhere since getting my green card. I said no without realizing that we moved to a new place. I just said “ NO”
but on my application I just put the new address where I live now and no problem at all!
As long they have ur adress where u live now u good to go
-
Straight to the point Mindthegap
Love it!
-
hi everyone!!!
well I did some research and if I got it correctly then it takes 7 weeks to get the biometric letter from the time they received your application or the time u received your NOA not sure which one is it.
I read people experiences on getting the biometric letter after filing and it’s about the same for everyone ( 2015/2016 Experiences)
so let’s hope we get that letter soon!
:)))))

I have added you to the tracking table. Good luck with the rest of your process!
It seems to depend on the DMV. If possible and to avoid complication, I would renew your license before your green card expires. Here's an interesting thread for someone in a similar circumstance:
Welcome to the group!
Done
Interesting. Thanks for sharing. I actually got issued with an 8 year when I mine expired last year. Prior to that, it was just a two-year limited term. Definitely, a relief to not have to worry about that paperwork for the foreseeable future.
Someone else posted earlier in the thread a well-researched estimate which I am inclined to go with. That said, something that many of us here can relate to is how quickly things can change at USCIS and not to take them for granted. Trends are only trends until they change again. Any trips you plan and pay for during this period must be considered risky and therefore you would be wise to book tickets that have flexibility. Nobody here can give you a solid answer to your question, honestly, you take your risk, you take your chances......

Hey Starsky I have
a question for u since since you are absolutely the master and greatly appreciated help
Realistically, how long does it take to get the biometric letter appointment from the time you get ur NOA .? I filed at the VSC
i got my ticket to go to France May the 7th . I hope I will get the appointment before that : what do u think?
-
Thank you Starsky.
Well the thing is I just renewed my passport 6 months prior me getting married. And I can’t even change it to my new married name unless I go to Washington DC’s French Ambassy HQ. just a hassle I don’t really want to deal with
i will just take my marriage certificate with me I guess. As I read that thread u posted, it seems the marriage certificate is the way to go
-
It’s $50.00 box to change the name since I booked 2 flights ( one from Paris to Bordeaux as well to go see my family ) so it’s a $100 box to change the tickets.
Imagine I didn’t post and didn’t think about it I would have lost almost a thousand dollars because I would lose all my tickets!
Well they changed it that’s what matters!

I flew to Japan with my husband and daughter right after I got my green card, and when I got to the customs in Tokyo no problems entering, when I was about to leave Japan back to America they asked me for my GC and I gave it to them but when they looked at it it had my married last name on it,. But my passport had my maiden name on it they asked why? But I had my marriage certificate with me so when they saw it was ok to get on my flight. When I got to JFK they didn’t even care about the marriage certificate they looked at the green card scan me through with no problems.

Good evening everyone,
hey Starsky I have a question : I just booked a flight from NYC to Paris in May, for 18 days with my family.
My GC expires March 11th but I got the NOA letter on February 24tg for a year
Iam going to be ok traveling with the expired GC and the letter right?
My husband and 2 kids are Americans and I have my French passport with my maiden name on it though. Should I bring my marriage certificate too? To show my last name is the same as my husband on green card.
omg just realized I booked my tickets with my married name! Shoot!
Need to call the airlines to change it :(((( man I know they are going to charge me since I bought the tickets a day and a half ago!
Arghhhh Iam fuming trying to call Cheapoair!!

Hey Francais,
make sure you add the copies of the W2 tax forms if u guys filed jointly. Because if u don’t they will request more evidences.
i didn’t include any letters from friends because we have 2 children together and one of them was born just last year so I thought that was plenty of evidence lol
if u have trips pics, and boarding passes that’s great
I think u have enough though

Hi duitta, can’t you go to your Ambassy to renew your passport. ?
And you can not travel anywhere with an expired passport, especially nowadays. I renewed mine not too long ago at the French Ambassy. They will just ask for a birth certificate and your old passport a fee and pics that’s all
