No questions asked, not even an eye contact for more then 10 seconds with the immigration officer, he just called my name and gave me my card and passport. 

Then before leaving I told the lady at the front desk that I missed my flight, then she wrote me letter saying my family missed the flight because not of any fault of our own, and that’s why jet Blue gave us a new flight free. 

I was abroad 4 weeks in Japan 

And as of my father in law , 

i guessed I wasn’t too clear 

I was asking is it better to get a 3 months touristic visa then apply for adjustment of status for him to stay and live here or ask for a immediate relative form for him to come here?

Ok let me explain,

i got my approval letter for my 10 years green card, and my card in the mail while vidibtong my in laws in Japan. 

I had my expired green card, my 18 months extension letter with me as well. Once I landed at LAX, and went through the Immigration and customs booth the guy said oh there is a violation on your immigration status, I asked what did he mean? I never ever had a problem in my life regarding immigration ( just the fact I over stayed my visa but got married to an American citizen) then he said, no big deal he brought me to room where some people where waiting then he said : you have 2 kids, it won’t take long ( I was freaking out) 

it was CBS or something, then they called my name and gave me my expired green card and my passport, wrote me a letter since I missed my connection flight and got a new flight to NYC free of charge. 

No explanations no nothing. Just gave me back my stuff and sent me on my way.

i don’t want to hire a lawyer ! They are full of craps!

my husband is the USC . 

I need to do my citizenship too as I got problems getting in. They said I had a violation on my immigration???? Then I sent to a room and they called my name like 25 minutes after gave me my green card then I went on my way!!! The immigration officer told me to become a citizen so I won’t have to go through this again! 

But my question is : I never got a ticket nor anything why will they say I have a violation on my immigration status???

that made me missed my connection flight to NY from LAX . 

But got new tickets from JetBlue because they wrote me a letter saying I was caught in CBS for 20 minutes 

Hey everyone, Starsky, Xyuexue , I got home from Japan and my card was in the mail in my house !!!! My friend thought the card will come with the USCIS logo on top 

thats why he said he didn’t see any card 

it came as a priority mail envelope, and he didn’t think that was it!!!

but when I looked at the mail my card was there in a Priority mail envelope. 

Ouf, I can breathe now 

One question to Xyuxue and Statsky or other when the case tracker said you card was delivered, my friend is at my place and said there is no card that has arrived? 

Is this normal, I got the letter of approval which he sent me a pic of but no card yet is that normal ? 

I am freaking out right now,

he said maybe Monday but then I won’t have it before flying back to the US 

i thought delivered meant literally in my mail box but nothing. 

:(( 

Xyuxue, I actually got a notification by the case tracker that my card was delivered! Thank you and You were right same timing ! Perfect , I am sooooooo happy I can get the card while in Japan   

then no need to explain anything at the Japanese customs

Hey, as Sukie said what you sent is not enough, 

i know you have a child but that does not mean anything, u need to send at least a lease or mortgage for the place you live in, the tax form u sent needs the W2 , plus bills with both name on it or same address it's send to. Bank statements needs to show all transactions for credit or debit cards for at least a year worth showing both of you using them. 

I sent the lease of our place for 3 years living together, bank statements ( like 10 pages of us using the same bank account), sent 2 utilities bills on each of our names on it , sent our full tax return filing jointly for 2 years, then 2 birth certificate for both children we have together. 

I didn't send any pics, any affidavits from friends nor letters or traveling tickets ( even though we traveled while together) I assumed it was enough and it was 

I. Got approved a year and 2 months later :)

Starsky, my card has been mailed but I am not in the US to actually get it but I have a friend coming to Japan where Iam visiting the in-laws, I asked him to pick it up and bring it with him as he is coming to Japan right before I leave. I hope I received it by Friday or Saturday as he leaves Monday for Japan. They mailed it to me on Tuesday do u think I will get it by Saturday at least? 

It will be much easier with the new GC as I am carrying my expired GC, my 18 months extension letter and my marriage certificate because my passport is still in my maiden name. 

The Japanese customs agents don’t really speak English and I am not sure they will understand the extension letter ( even though it’s clear to me)

Omg, hey guys one question , you got me freaking out! I am in Japan right now for 2 more weeks, I have my expired green card and my 18 months extension letter, but as I checked my case tracker it says my card is being produced but iam not home to get the card. Will I get in trouble reentering?

someone just mentioned we can’t leave once the card is being produced? 

I am flipping out right now! 

When I left my status said biometric done . And 2 weeks in then I just got card being produced !!

please please is it ok to re-enter? My hubby and 2 kids are Americans i am holding a French passport

been with my hubby for 9 years , married for 4 with 2 kids. Thought it will be fast with 2 kids but still. Waiting 4 my 10 years GC !

How is that possible? I got an interview for my green card even and it was approved that day. 

Was it a green card through marriage? Because mine was solid and still got to go to an interview with my young child with me.

its been a while but Iam back. It seems Vermont center hasn’t had nothing going on even though we were all first getting fingerprints appts 

@ Starsky, thank you soooooo much for keeping us updated on everyone status! I really appreciate it.  I have a question I am going to Japan at the end of April and got already 2 letters  of extension of my green card, first was for the one year and next for 6 extra months. To top it all, my passport as my maiden name on it, as it’s still valid till 2024. My husband is Japanese /American ( holds an American passport) my 2 kids are Americans, but I still hold a French passport. My question is by the time i come back to US which will be a struggle since Japanese customs are sooo difficult to deal with and all these paper works I will carrying , my green card extensions are almost expired by the time i come back , so what do I do? I can’t neber show my green card at the bank because it’s expired and when I bring 2 letters there are soooooo confuse! And when I bring my passport they need to see my marriage certificate ！

so i went to France and came back using my expired green card and my 1 year extension letter with me and had no problem reentering in the US. 

Starsky I have a question, It’s been exactly 6 months today since I applied for my 10 years green card, to my surprise I got a letter from Immigration today and I quite freaked out because I was scared it was a request for more evidences but it wasn’t,

its a letter extending my green card for 18 months instead of a year due to delays at the processing Center. What I don’t understand is why now send me a renewal for 6 more months when the year hasn’t gone by yet? 

Its only been six months is this normal? Iam sure they won’t ask for more evidences since I have 2 children with my American husband and we have been together 8 years. 

Just wondering if that happened to anyone?

Sooooooo annoying,! Since you work for FedEx send the package with them , if you go to the USCIS website the address does not include a P.O. Box as I sent mine without the PO Box on it and it reached its destination

I was not trying to be mean or anything but let’s look at your situation, you have been in jail twice, once for domestic violence and once for violating your order .

I have 2 children with my American citizen spouse, one whom is 3 one whom just turned 1 a month ago. If he ever put his hand on me that would be a wrap ( kids or no kids) 

i was just saying that it seems this relationship is really bad for u guys. U are right I don’t know anything about u but you are the one who asked for our opinion as far as iam concerned and I gave you mine : I think you will be denied but as you said iam no lawyer or no judge for sure.
