  1. Hello everyone,

I just received the date for our AOS interview after submitting all the forms back in November 2018 and I am just confused about one item on the checklist of things to bring to the interview. They ask for the affidavit of support I-864, so do they just want me to bring a copy of the one we submitted back in November 2018 or should we fill out a new one and bring in the supporting documents as per this most recent tax return.

    Thanks in advance :)

Thank you. Thats so interesting . Like imagine if you get your visa but cannot enter immediately due to a personal reason and then your medical exam expires.

Yes, I'm glad they mentioned it to me because although I got my Visa a month ago I'm not going to be entering the US for another two weeks from now so we'll only have about two months before everything expires instead of three.

Question: I know there a timeline associated with the medical date. Is it that you can enter within 6 months of your  medical date or is it that your visa expires 90 days after the medical date? If anyone can answer this question, it would be greatly appreciated.

After I was approved at my interview I was told that even though it was techically 90 days after I enter the US we would actually have to get married by November something because that was when my medical exam expired.

    What do you all think...

My evidence of relationship is all printed out and ready to go for the interview in MTL.

I have itineraries, boarding passes and passport entry stamps from my two visits to see my USC since we filed in November (Dec 2017 for 10 days and May 2018 for 7 days), pages of phone call logs from November until current and over 50 photos of us together showing both of us with each other's families plus engagement photos. I spent less than six months (but consecutively) in the US in 2016 so we could see if our lifestyles were compatible. I have a copy of my engagement ring and wedding dress receipts plus all of our evidence of trips from before we applied including emails between me and his family.

Do you really think I need to provide any more evidence that our relationship is bonafide? I have all of our chat logs from years and years of conversations but I really dont feel like going through it all anymore and printing excerpts.

    What do you think....

They legit didn't even ask to see any evidence when I had my interview last month! I had a huge binder with similar stuff but all they wanted was like the birth certificate, police check, etc.... I'm sure you'll be fine with what you've got :)

Once approved, roughly how long does it take to get the paperwork to allow you to cross the border?

I had my interview June 13th and received the email today (June 28th) that my Visa is ready to be picked up. So about two weeks. I live fairly close to Montreal so it might be a bit longer if it has farther to travel.

Congrats!! Just a question on tax returns. Did you take a copy of the tax transcripts found on the IRS website or the actual Tax return? Also did they check for W2, pay stubs, bank statements?

I brought a letter from his employer, bank statements, W2 and the actual tax return but the only thing they asked to see was the tax return.

I have a question about evidence to bring to the interview. My fiance and I have been together since 2011. We met abroad, travelled around the world together and lived in Canada together for 2 years when he decided to go back to University to pursue a different degree.  Our petition was full of documents since we've been together for so long (200+ pages of evidence). For ppl who have already passed your interview, did you bring your entire petition (the one submitted prior to NOA1) or just key documents? We have tons of plane tickets from all over, photos in various countries, pictures with both our families and friends, photos of us together at different events, leases, car insurances, jewelry insurance , bank forms, contracts, and obviously phone records, texts, etc . We even have a census record of when he was living here as a student.... It's alot. We have even more to add to that he's come to visit me here in Montreal since we started the process. I feel kind of ridiculous walking into the consulate with 500+ pages of our history together. If I have to slide the evidence through a slot in the window, it definitely wouldn't fit. Any thoughts? Should I bring everything previously submitted or just key documents? I plan to bring my expired passports which will show we've been traveling together. Ideas? (PS. We did not receive a RFE... I can only imagine the poor soul that had to review our enormous file) 😆

We had our interview yesterday, I brought a copy of everything that was in our original i129f package, everything requested in packet 4, screen shots of photos of us together on Facebook taken since we submitted our i129f, screen shots of Facebook Messengers chats, phone bills, etc... They didn't ask to look at anything besides the official documents requested in packet 4 (birth certificate, police report, divorce decree, and so on). They didn't even ask to see any of the additional information we had brought for the affidavit of support just the copy of the petitioners latest tax return. The interview was five minutes max, they asked a few questions about my fiance (name, where he lives and works), had I visited any countries besides US and Canada, and a few questions about my dad (who is Canadian military and was posted in Colorado for a few years). I was surprised it wasn't more intense. Granted we like you lived together for two years while my fiance was posted in Canada. We also have a son together and my fiance works for the US air Force. I would say bring stuff just in case, I'm glad I had all that stuff just in case they had asked for any of it. I had a big binder with me I felt a little ridiculous and don't worry they ask you to slide each paper through the slot individualy lol I hope that helps :)

9 months in, more frustrated than ever lol. My case has been at the Montreal Consulate with status READY since May 8. I haven't heard a thing. Tried sending Packet 3, got an email back saying not to submit it until they tell me to. I waited a week, and submitted it again and haven't heard a word since. It's frustrating because some people hear back after just 3 days of status Ready. I find this part of the journey the most frustrating. So close, yet so far! Really hoping I hear something soon!

Montreal is super frustrating! They received our case on March 20th and we didn't get Packet 3 until April 25th. I did the same thing as you and emailed them once a week and always got the "don't send until we ask" email, meanwhile people whose cases had been received weeks after ours were booking their interviews. It sucks!

How long between case # at NVC and packet 3? My fiance seems to think I'll be able to have my visa in hand by the end of the month... I don't have Packet3 yet so I'm a little doubtful...🤔

Our case number was assigned March 2nd and we didn't get packet 3 until April 25th, I don't think our case was the norm because I've seen so many others on this forum get packet 3 within a week or two of their case number. So hopefully you won't be unlucky like me!

    Hello,

I have immigrant visa appointment at Montreal Embassy next month and need to do a Medical test now. I didn't go through any vaccination in Canada and don't have a record from back home either. I understand I've to go to any doctor and get all the vaccinations and then go to the official medical centre in Toronto. Curious on how much did you pay for all the vaccinations ( 18-64) range.

If you get them done at a health clinic or your family doctor they should all be free (unless you need the chicken pox one I think that one costs extra). If you end up getting them done during your medical exam I think they charge you quite a bit for them! I'm in the same predicament, I had an allergic reaction as a baby to my vaccines and haven't had any since but my mom has no records of any of this. I tried to get them done at the health unit but the nurse refused to do them because of my allergic reaction. So I'm hoping I don't get screwed at the medical exam and have to pay out the ### for them!

Hello everyone. Had a question for you all. Have any of you visited your fiancé in the US after NOA2 but before the interview? Did you run into any troubles entering?

I've gone to visit a couple of times now, just short stays (3-5 days at a time) and I haven't ran into any problems. I always make sure that I bring my binder with copies of all my paperwork (I129F application, NAO2, etc...) just in case they decide to give me a hard time. When they ask what the reason for my visit is I just say that I'm going to visit my boyfriend for a couple of days. Sometimes they ask when I'm coming back, or what I do for work, etc... I never bring up the application and they've never asked about it yet. I do drive so i don't know if it would be different it you're flying. Hope that helps :)

  12. Update, my fiance (the petitioner) received Packet 3 in the mail today....  So frustrating. Our case status changed to Ready on March 20th and I emailed Packet 3 once a week until they finally emailed us on April 13th and said they needed proof our son was a US citizen (he was born in Canada and has always lived here but we got his consular birth abroad stuff done right away after he was born so he has a social security number and we just got his US passport last month). So we emailed them the information they needed and then they replied on April 18th saying they would pass the information along to whoever was taking care of our case... The Packet 3 is dated April 19th so I'm just like confused about why I need to send packet 3 again when they clearly already have it..... Fingers crossed we will finally get Packet 4 before the week is over!!!

We are on week 2 of waiting for packet 3. It’s frustrating honestly. I do want everything ti be done and hopefully get a spot on May. I’m really tempted to send the p3 again.

We are on day 37 of waiting. Granted they did inquire on day 25 about my son because I did not put him on the DS160 (he is a dual citizen already with a US passport) so they've said they've passed that information along to whoever is handling our case and they'll contact us with further instructions..... Super frustrating!

  14. Finally got a response from Montreal!!!!! I don't know if this was what the hold up was about but they've asked for proof that our son (who lives with me in Canada) is a US citizen. I didn't include him on my DS-160 because he has dual citizenship (we went to the US embassy when he was just a couple of months old and had all the paperwork taken care of), he has a social security number and a US passport already so I wasn't worried about it. So I guess now I just have to wait for my fiance to wake up (worked a midnight shift last night) so he can scan and send them the paperwork they need.  Fingers crossed he wakes up soon and maybe we'll be able to book our interview today :)

I'm in the same boat... My case has been 'ready' since March 20th as well and have heard nothing from the Consulate. I have been going against every polite Canadian bone in my body by sending them my packet 3 via email several times: the third time was today. I hope to hear back soon. GUHH!!

I know right! I feel like such a ####### sending it once a week but its frustrating seeing other cases that arrived after ours booking interviews so quickly :(

    May 1st-May 8th right now :)

I was about to lmao, when did was your NVC stuff showing as ready??

CEAC has shown my case as ready since March 20th, so this is getting a little ridiculous!!!!!! But it took NVC 11 days to mail my case to the Embassy after they created my case number so I think we just have bad luck...

We sent p3 by mail yesterday.

Then got an automated response....8weeks ......

today we received one more mail stating ⬇️⬇️

    Now same waiting game begins

does anyone have the correct info ?? What to do or expect???

I'm in the same boat. Status changed to ready on March 20th but I haven't received anything from the Embassy. I emailed Packet 3 anyways on March 22nd and got the same emails you did. Emailed again on April 4th and again this morning (April 10th) still haven't gotten any response beyond the immediate automated response for those two... Not much we can do but wait I guess.

Packet 4 received!! Still confused about how to go about payment since I'm hearing a bunch of different things for the visa fee (packet 4 says they only accept cash?? but I still need to read it thoroughly)

    A) Congrats!!!

    B) If they don't send me Packet 4 soon I'm going to have a mental breakdown lol

Tried to send the packet 3 and we received an email saying it will take 8 wks for them to reply. So im assuming it is the “automated “ response? Hahaha.

Yup!!! The first time we tried to send in Packet 3 we got that email immediately and then the next day got one saying we had to wait until we'd received instructions from them to send in Packet 3 and that our case wasn't ready for that yet. But I sent in Packet 3 last week for a second time and have only gotten the automated response so far. If you're one of the lucky one's hopefully they'll email you Packet 4 instructions this afternoon :)

This is the second week we've sent something now... haaaaaaa..... I promise we're trying not to annoy them too much :D

They still haven't responded to the packet 3 we sent in last Tuesday beyond the automated response saying to expect an actual response soon. I'm debating whether I should send packet 3 again tomorrow lol

My fiance is filling up the ds-160 today.

    Questions:

    1. Petition/receipt number is the WAC** number right? Its the MTL number you get from NVC

    2. National Identification Number: does not apply? I put my SIN number, but I read varying things about this (people either put SIN or left blank)

    3. Intended date of arrival: we put our expiration date on noa2 as we dont have any idea when can she come here? I put May 1, 2018 but obviously that's not going to happen lol

    4. Has anyone ever filed an immigrant petition on your behalf?

-fiance was part of a family visa before but was not able to be included during processing as she was already over 21y/o. Visa was done by her grandparents to her dad but that was long time ago.Is this considered a “yes” ?

or “no” because she was not included when her family immigrated here last year? Not sure about this one.

    any answer is appreciated.

Anyone know how we pay the $265 visa fee (I may have gotten the exact amount wrong)? We've scheduled an interview... which we found out we have to push out the same freaking day, but we weren't prompted to pay anything?

    https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-ca/iv/users/sign_in

I think you can pay for it on this website, but that might only be if you haven't booked already (book and pay at the same time on this website). Otherwise I believe you can pay in person at the interview.
