Hey William. Basically, I had several of posts I made in another thread deleted by the Moderators for not strictly adhering to the OP's topic at hand. Specifically, a thread was created, labeled 'political cartoons' (which happened to be created by one of the Mods), and I posted several political 'posters' - typically a photograph of a political figure combined with text. My posts were deleted and I was told such posts don't follow the OP's request to only have political 'cartoons'. So I then asked the Moderation if the same kind of scrutiny can be implemented by the Moderators and Kathryn assured me that this kind of Moderation does and will be applied to all threads, provided sufficient reporting on those posts which don't directly respond to the OP. This thread's topic is about supermarket meat coming from sick animals and a handful of serial trollers took it upon themselves to try and turn this thread into their own agenda - talking about PETA, when in fact the OP makes no mention of PETA nor is that the subject matter. I have long tolerated this type of trolling here in P&R, even by one of the Moderators who is a longtime troller, but the final straw came about when that Moderator created their own thread and subsequently got the 'royal treatment' of thread moderation by having anyone's post that did follow along their rigid interpretation of the topic, deleted.

You see, at some point, the whole notion of members here being able to enjoy participating in these forums has been turned on it's head, for the sake of favoring a Moderator who has habitually trolled the boards. And what I mean by trolling is posting replies to an OP that have no specific reply to the actual subject matter and add nothing to the discussion other than antagonize or demean the OP or deflect from argument presented in a political context.

All I'm asking here is for consistency and fairness. If the Moderation is going to allow random replies in threads then there shouldn't be any special treatment for any specific members here, especially if they also happen to be a Moderator. The alternative is that if it is acceptable to delete other people's posts because the OP complains such posts aren't on topic, then such actions by the Moderation need to be applied to all threads and OP's who make the same complaints. I've reported in this thread the specific trolling posts, asking that they be deleted and yet, they are sill up and none of the Moderation seem willing to take appropriate action.

So this is like my question about the game threads. So if I make a post, can I set some rules at the beginning of the thread? If people don't follow my rules can they be thread banned or moderated?

I won't allow other people to cook in my kitchen or wash my dishes. I like stuff done in a certain way so I'd rather do it myself.

I watched Trespass yesterday. It wasn't awesome but it wasn't completely awful either. Now my friends and I are attempting to watch movies that Netflix has suggested. We've started 5 or 6 and stopped them all 15-20 minutes in.

And by "need", I mean "would starve without".

I don't know any personally but my friend works in the school system in Cleveland as an interventionist. She sees kids in a daily basis who only get food when they're at school and never at home. Part of her job is to help these kids.

eta: I don't know for sure if my one friend's kids would starve without the food stamps, but I assume they would not be eating 3 meals a day without it.

Sometimes certain posters post too many threads in a day. Some seem to monitor each thread decently but others post many and then never respond. Some just seem to now and again to flood the forum for spite.

one time I was suspended for posting too many threads in one day. true story.

Yeah I wouldn't worry about it. I've had to do it for a job before and they just gave me a form to fill out before the test to list any medications I was on.

I only know one person on food stamps. She's a single mom who was married for a very long time until her husband cheated and left her for another woman. She was a stay at home mom and never went to college. She has 3 kids and her ex has skipped out on child support. All of her family live on the other side of the country so she doesn't really have anyone who can help with the kids or anything. She lives in a tiny one bedroom house. Her kids (all seem very happy, smart, and well adjusted) share a bed in the one bedroom and she sleeps on the couch. She is in school and works two jobs. She is always positive, optimistic, and I've never once heard her complain about her situation or feel sorry for herself. After knowing her for a few years I get the impression that she couldn't feed her kids and pay the bills without the extra help.

Heads should roll in Nome. All of us this far up on the coast are iced in for the winter and we always make sure our fuel storage tanks are topped off right before the ice comes in. I have no idea what's up with Nome this year, but a lot of people up there should be losing their jobs over this one if not serving some time in jail also as it would be justified.

I say let em freeze for a bit to learn them a lesson or two. It would serve them right.

My friend in Nome said this happened because of that big storm with the huge winds and stuff that happened right before their last shipment of fuel was supposed to come in. They got iced in earlier than they were supposed to because of that storm. Yesterday she told me gas is $10/gal right now. I suggested she go back to Hawaii (where she lived before she lived in Nome) and she said there's no fuel for the planes to get out!

Very simple. Cut the apples in pieces and put them in a baking pan with 2" high sides. Mix eggs and sugar and flour in a bowl, pour the mixture over the apples and bake (I do not know the exact quantities of ingredients but she makes these cakes like 2-3 times per week so I have seen her do it) She uses Grannysmith apples for this. She was actually baffled at the types of apples we have here and had to experiment to find the right ones for baking, for eating, etc. Ukriane usually offers two types of apples...yellow or red. In season there are more sometimes but nothing like the array of apples we have here...one of the "big pluses" of the USA.

I could do this with TWO dishes plus a measuring cup.

I have not heard her clal them a "harlit cake" but I can ask. She just calls it "apple cake" but I am sure it has a Russian name

The dishes. But Alla either has less dishes, pots and pans than you or has managed to learn how to use ALL of them for baking her "simple" four ingredient cake (flour, eggs, sugar, apples)

is that the one made of mostly apples? it's called harlot cake, right? that's what my uncle's russian wife calls it.
