  1. My wife had her Adjustment of Status Interview for a marriage based Green Card on Wednesday August 14, 2019 in Holtsville, NY. Appt. at 7:15am got there at 6:45 and there was about 3 other ppl ahead of us. Went through security at 655, registered at 7:15 and was called back at 8:10. IO told us they had more Officers than offices. He was very polite and seemed easy going. He asked for her passport and my ID but I already had both our passports out so he took them and I offered our IDs but he said it wasn’t needed. He confirmed a few things and then started asking my wife the questions toward the end making sure she isn’t a drug cartel or master spy. He then asked if we had any additional documents we wanted to give them. That question threw me off since I was expecting more specific requests. I started with tax returns from 2018 for me and my co-sponsor. Which he took. Then I offered bills, photos, and IDs but he said no. Said this was more to confirm our identity since we applied for the K-1 Visa prior he had all of that info too. We asked a few questions about if she loses the GC while abroad. Then he just said she should get it in 2-4 weeks from Friday when he submits the paperwork. He walked us out we thanked him again and shook hands.

We keep checking the website but no updates. So of course, this makes it stressful and we question should we have given more or showed more, or been more direct like “so we are approved?” For now I guess we will wait and maybe in a week call for a tier 2 agent to ask if anything on our file has changed.

Anyone else have similar experience? should we have tried to show more proof?

Its August 6th, I am creating my check list right now and getting the documents ready again, I told my husband his only job is to go to the medical.

Such fun times. I'm stressing over that stuff already, I'm still in med school so we don't have a lot of evidence mostly pictures and her name on utilities and banks. I need to get a ID still with the same address but we move in 3 months again. Luckily her medical is still valid and we finished her vaccine records.

Well the I-485 starts in Chicago at the national service center I believe, then moves to your jurisdiction, I think when they say interview scheduled its already at your local field office and you are just waiting for the post office to deliver. Give in a couple of days, like I said mine was scheduled for interview on 6/26 and I got the letter yesterday, so if yours is 6/27 you may get it today or by end of week, just keep in mind Thursday is a holiday.

Have you checked your mail today?

How far out is your interview?  Congrats too!!

Mail comes late around 6-7. But I check it every time I come home. I've heard talking with a level two can be helpful maybe will try that Friday morning. Our rfie came from Missouri still maybe some cases got shipped there. Still not sure if we will interview in queens or Manhattan.  Thanks for the info too.

  5. Does anyone know if the case status online changes to when they actually mail out the interview notice?
Our case i485 from K-1 says interview was scheduled June 27th and last week they said they mailed a notice. Now today the agent said they have not mailed anything and kept reading my online status to me and telling me it will update to when they mail out a notice with interview date.
How do you request a level two officer, just ask immediately?

    Thanks for any help

Anyone have a comprehensive list of case status?

  6. So we submitted our I485 from K1 in early Jan 2019. We used her maiden name. We also submitted with our county (in Florida) marriage certificate; however upon trying to get a "Real ID" from NY about 3 weeks ago, we were told to get a State Marriage Certificate. Since we used a County certified copy will we get an RFE? Should we expect one before or after EAD and AP?

Should I try to mail in the state Certificate (fancy security paper certificate) and could we then request a change to her name so her EAD will be with my last name?

    Thanks for any advice.

you don't need to get a police certificate for her. That's why she is not even entitled for it. She didn't reside in that country. Traveling or visiting isn't the same as residing. I just went to a Russian forum and they say the same.

I meant to call the NVC or US Embassy to confirm this yesterday because that ^^^ makes sense to us too. Our lawyer though said cumulative time so we put Russia and Singapore as needing Police reports. Guess I should've called to confirm this before. Thanks I'll copy the response from US embassy here. I appreciate the help.

  8. She looked at 3rd party agencies to obtain it but it was $130 for 25 days or $250 for 6 days + $40 for delivery (unknown time-frame); Russian embassy in Kiev only had appt in Sept. but she contacted Lviv consulate and they have an early August and that it should be 2 weeks but they may want her to pickup in person since they will not ship it.

But any input from another is great thanks!!!!

  9. thank you! yeah the police reports are the biggest problem need a Russian one too but she's traveling to Lviv to get an earlier appointment and I'll be mailing everything else out soon.  I'm contacting US embassy again, initially they just said the officer will decide after sending my emails with singapore.  NVC said they should be able to provide more info, so I emailed again.  Like most ppl we're planning stuff and on a tight schedule especially with my school. Hoping for the best but can't find any other ppl with a similar situation.

  10. She has spent more than six months there part 16.

If there a specific document or form?

She does not meet the criteria.

Below is the response from Singapore.

Please note that the Certificate of Clearance (COC) is only issued to persons who have resided at Singapore for a minimum continuous period of 6 months or more under the pass issued by the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) or the work permit issued by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM).

We do not issue the COC for social visits or multiple/cumulative social visits to Singapore.

  11. My fiancee needs to obtain a police report from Singapore however since she was just a tourist she was never issued a foreign ID number. I emailed with the police force of Singapore  a few times clarifying our situation. A supervisor was the last one to write back stating that she will not be issued a police report. The us embassy in Ukraine said the officer will decide what to do.

Has anyone else had a problem similar to this and what was the outcome?

    Thanks for any feedback.
