Queso, I just called again and spoke to someone. She told me to go to my local ASC at the scheduled time and they would take care of it. However, Jacksonville doesn't do walk-ins and after what I've read about people being turned away for biometrics there, I won't just drive there and lose an entire day at work. I requested an appointment in Jax, explaining my situation - they won't give me one.

I wrote down the name of the people I spoke to over the phone just in case they want to turn me away I can let them know who told me to come in. I did ask if I would need to schedule an infopass and she said no, just walk in to the local office and they will do it. I’d say bring your letter and everything you need and point to the mistaken zip code in the letter and they should let you walk in because it was their error.

    That's great news!

I just called and after 5 rounds through the entire voice menu, I gave up. I requested an appointment in Jacksonville online (they're only making emergency appointments right now it seems), I hope to hear back from them soon.

I pressed 1 for English, then 2 and 2 and 2 again and it took me to an agent. I explained everything and she transferred my call to the second level agent...

I just got off the phone with USCIS, the agent tried transferring my call to second level but the wait time is 315 minutes so I will be getting I call back in about 5 hours I hope... she said all looks correct on my file, and that it must have been their mistake when they typed the letter and assigned the ASC center. I will post an update when they call me back, but hopefully they’ll be able to reschedule to my nearest office.

Second level agent assured me I would be able to walk in to my nearest office and explain the situation and they will take my biometrics.

I think they state on their website that they don't let anyone in without an appointment. I can't just go there anyway, I have to make arrangements at work. I work from 7 to 7 M-F, I also teach during that time and will need to find a substitute for the day of the appointment. Argh.

That’s true, I will contact USCIS and try to get an info pass appointment for my local office. I hope they won’t have me request a reschedule though, I just don’t want to have to wait much longer.

I received my appointment notice as well, for 5/25 at 8 am in Santa Clara CA - I am in Florida. They messed up my zip code (it was correct on the previous letter) and scheduled my appointment on the wrong coast. It should have been in Jacksonville, FL. Help, what do I do? A request to reschedule by mail surely won't be enough.

So we are scheduled the same date and time and my zip code I just realized they messed up as well... I will call USCIS on Monday, but I read another thread and looks like some people have been able to walk in to their local offices and explain the situation and get their biometrics done without issues.

  7. Hi guys! I received a notice today for a biometrics appointment. The crazy thing about it is that for some reason they have scheduled it for me to go to Portland, OR! I live in Michigan and have never even been to Oregon, this is very strange. I tried to reach USCIS by phone but of course they only attend people Monday through Friday. I’m not sure why they wouldn’t realize this and I hope I can have it change to Michigan... this is crazy.

Thanks for sharing... i had heard about this before... but it's nice to see it in writing.  When we did an online inquiry, it read a little differently.

    Thanks to USCIS inconsistencies!

Definitely inconsistent, but it sounds like some of us will get to skip that part of the process. Also let's hope for our sake that once transferred to the local offices they will be consistent on actually speeding processes.

I just received an approval letter in the mail without ever doing biometrics. Must be a mistake. I will call USCIS about this

Congratulations! I honestly would not think it is a mistake, but definitely not a bad idea to double check with them. When I inquired online and they sent me an email (this was before cases got transferred to local offices) they did mention some cases would not need biometrics appointment. -Thank you for your inquiry regarding an appointment to have your biometric images processed at an Application Support Center (ASC). We are unfortunately experiencing a longer processing period than what is reflected on your Form I-751 Receipt Notice for this process. Please know that your name will be electronically added to the appointment scheduler if needed. Some applicants will be able to have their prior biometrics copied into our systems and will not be scheduled for a new appointment. You will receive an ASC appointment notice by mail once an appointment date has been established for you if you in fact require an appointment-

Ah well. Next stop, an infopass appointment. Going to shoot for that around early March time.

I tried this as well, got pretty much the same email...

I'm really hoping it won't be three more months, this is incredible and nerve wracking....

  11. Hello all, I just registered here today. So I filed and mailed form I 751, receipt date 10/11/2017 and received extension letter 10/23/2018. I'm still waiting for my Biometrics appointment notice (today is 02/03/18) and whenever I try to check status online it says it does not recognize my  receipt number. I'm getting a little nervous, I have called the 800 number on the letter and they say it is still being processed. I'm wondering how long will it take before I receive the notice for Biometrics appointment.
