  1. This is a 2-part question:

    I.

I'm self-employed and am sub-contractor via another contracting company for a major software development corporation. I'm planning on submitting last 3 yrs tax returns: copies of 1040, W-2, and 1120S forms.

Per the I-134 instructions (section II. C) self-employed individuals are only supposed to submit the copy of the last income tax return filed.

Is that all is required, or a letter from the contracting company would also be helpful, if so what should be content of the letter.

    II.

Also, IRS form 1040 has 3 relevant lines:

    Line 7: Salary/Wages

    Line 17: S-Corp Income

    Line 22: Total Income

Do they look at the total income (line 22 of the IRS form 1040), which shows the sum of all my income or just the salary I paid myself (line 7)

My 1040 Line 7 is about 250% more than the mentioned poverty guidelines for a family of 1 person. (I'm the only person in the household).

    Thanks.

  2. For K-1 visa, The instructions say that we should submit the documents to a VFS office 15-10 days before the interview date. Does this mean 15 to 10 working days or 15-10 regular calendar days ? Can someone clarify this please.

What if we miss the 15-10 day deadline, the VFS folks will refuse to take the documents absolutely ?

    Thanks.

  3. Now I understand that a police cert is required from the "Local Police station" and another one from the "local area passport office".

Does the Local area passport office itself issues the police certificates ?? Anyone who got it from Bangalore ?? How long does it take ??

    Thanks.

  4. I needed some clarification regarding police certs for applicants living in India :

My fiancee has lived in India only since the age of 16:

Does she need police certs from all the local police stations since the age 16. (She has lived in at least 3 places) or just one from the current local police station and another from the regional passport office ?

Can someone please clarify this one. (She'll be applying at the Chennai consulate).

    Thanks.

  5. I'm going crazy all over on these packets. Based upon the posts that I'm reading from various members, I presume that all US embassies in India have a different detailed process although the overall process might look the same. Can you folks answer the following questions from the Chennai consulate perspective.

    a. How do folks get detailed information like File left NVC, File reached consulate etc...

    b. How do I know if the Chennai consulate received it ?

    c. Does Chennai consulate mail the packet-3 or not ? (Since packet-3 is not on their website and Mumbai consulate website has it)

    d. Do we have the option of choosing an interview date or we just accept whatever the consulate provides,

    e. When will they provide the interview date, after sending packet-3 or along with packet-3 ?

    f. When will my fiancee receive packet-4 ?

    g. What about the VFS office, Do we submit the documents to VFS office or just take them to the interview ?

    Thanks for your time guys.

  6. anyone from India who filed after march 6th... get an approval on their petitions from California Service Center.

    just curious.

My NOA1 was in March 1st week and I still have not recived the NOA2, hwoever I received a letter from the NVC saying that the case will be sent to Chennai consulate (they have received the approved i-129f).

The website still shows up I-129F pending. Don't we need the NOA2 approval notice for the visa -interview ? How do I get it now ? ALso there's litlte time for the preparation, I believe our interview date will be something like August 1st week based upon the case numbers published for Chennai consulate for July.

  7. I received a letter from NVC mentiong that they have receive the approved I-129F and that they will be forwarding the petition to the visa-issuing post. However I've not received the NOA2 (I-129F approval letter) from the USCIS.

How can I follow up to know where the petition is now ? Can I use the case number mentioned in the letter I received from NVC ?

Also I believe the original NOA2 is required for the visa interview ? Someone please answer.

    you can call the embassy.

    Wheres your respective consulate?

    My embassy is Chennai, INDIA.

  8. (Currently we have been approved I-129F per the letter from NVC, although we have not received NOA2)

    I've 3 questions here :

    a. Where can we download Packet 3 and Packet 4 to see what is involved in it and to be prepared.

    b. Is DS 156 required for K1 visa interview, if yes where can I download it, I've downloaded DS 156K but I can't seem to find DS 156.

    c. Does we have to schedule the interview ourself with the Chennai consulate (in INDIA) or the consulate just gives a date and have to go there on that date. If we can schedule a date, when can we do that ?

  10. You guys are amazing !!!! Lightning speed replies. Thanks for such quick reply guys :-)

Sure I do have the passport stamps with dates on them and all tickets except one. (however I do have the return which proves I did go there to come back. ) I guess I'll attach about 6 photos and another 6 phone bills from each of us is what I'll attach.

Now for the interview (assuming my petition gets approved), do we use the same submitted evidence or we still need to provide the more current emails and phone records.

As far as extra relationship evidence was concerned, I think we put in about 6 pictures, and a small selection of phone records. That's it.

We saved everything else for the interview.

What other documents do we need to keep gathering from now onwards for the interview process ? Any ideas would be helpful.

    Thanks again.

  11. I'm in the process of filing my I-129F for my fiance in India, and am gathering the emails and phone records and photos.

We've all the phone records for the last 2 years.

We've a few photos of the engagement ceremony and a few casual photos as well.

    Q. Based upon your experience I want to know how many emails and how many pictures should I attach ?

    Q. Also we don't have all the email exactly since the beginning of our relationship(Q4 2004). Since we have chatted mostly over the phone. Is this going to be a problem ?

    Thanks in advance to all.
