hmmmmm.......If I was the officer, I think I would rather have each document separated in clearly labeled files so I could easily locate what I was looking for without having to scroll through 30-40 pages to try and find what I was looking for, but to each his own.

If you are going to build a document with that many pages, after the cover page, I would put an index page, so the officer can find what he/she is looking for easier.

One other thing. You don't need w-2's with tax transcripts, but you should have a recent pay stub and an employment letter.

We sent 3 files with AOS. (in one e-mail)

I-864

I-864A

AOS fee bill receipt

We put them each in separate pdf files each with their own cover page. We attached supporting documentation to the I-864 & I-864A pdf's

For the IV, we have 12 files. (in one e-mail)

DS-230, Petitioner birth, petitioner marriage, petitioner naturalization, petitioner name change, birth, marriage, police, GUZP3sup, passport biopage, passport photo, IV fee bill receipt

We put cover pages for each of them.

Unless you want to put them all together in one massive file, you should need cover pages for each of them. I would think that one huge file for all that stuff would be confusing. With no clear guidelines from NVC on how they want it prepared, it's a bit of guesswork.

If your mom has petitiioned your brother as a permanent resident, it should be a little quicker than 9-10 years. If you did it as a USC sibling, that's about accurate.

I would think that you would only need a new one if the one you gave them was in "en extracto" format. If it actually is in "inextensa" format, you should be OK.

Yes, I am working on the email for my parent now.

It says " Place case barcode strip here before mailing to the national visa center" on the top of DS-3032 form.

I can just ignore it when attaching the signed form right?

Also, don't use the coversheets until you get the right ones. That won't occur until you've been accepted into electronic processing. The correct coversheets' number will begin with GZO.

And to make it even more complex, you will need to add coversheets to each document when you get them. You won't get the coversheets until you get the AOS and IV fee bills.

Do you mean the birth certificates, police certificate, marriage certificate and that stuff? You should have GongZhengChu (white books) for all those and I would scan all pages.

The thing is I will be out of country for more than two weeks starting next Tuesday... And I'd rather not to call NVC and be on hold for more than 30 minutes when I call.

Since you already have your case no. you shouldn't need to call them. The next step is for the Fee Bill and link to show up in your e-mail. My suggestion is that your parent have the email prepared according to the instructions with the completed DS-3032 attached. Then when the fee bill arrives, all he/she has to do is send the e-mail. Then you can pay the AOS fee bill on-line and wait for your acceptance into electronic processing.

No, you should wait until you receive the AOS fee bill in your e-mail. Your completed DS-3032 should be attached to the OPTIN e-mail sent from your parent's e-mail address. Have patience and follow the instructions.

We have Adobe Acrobat Professional so we don't use other methods of file production and conversion. Sorry, can't help with that one.

Thank you so much for the quick reply and your advice. I don't remember if I filled in form G-1145. So I will call the NVC anyway to ask them, if they received my application. The parent I am applying for is also from China . Does this mean our two cases are similar and both will take a while?

I applied for both parents. That could have something to do with it. I wouldn't presume that your timeline would be similar to ours based on our experience. Timelines can vary for no apparent reason.

Did you fill out form G-1145 when you sent the application in?

If not, call NVC and find out if they have received your case yet. Once they receive your case, you can probably add your e-mail address to the file. If your case is anything like mine, it might be a while.

For China/GUZ applicants: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO OPTIN PRIOR TO RECEIVING THE DS-3032 EMAIL FROM NVC. DOING SO WILL CAUSE A SEVERE DELAY.

Originally I thought I could send the OPTIN email (DS-3032 in the attachment) as soon as I get the case number on the phone.

After my reading, I realized that I need to get an email from NVC first. But I don't NVC has my email address... My guess is I have to tell the agent my email address on the phone.

Is that right?

The petitioner gets the AOS fee bill in his/her e-mail. The beneficiary then sends the OPTIN e-mail from his/her email with the completed DS-3032 as an attachment. (use the DS-3032 in the link I sent you, NOT the one they send) DS-3032 supplies the name and e-mail of the agent. Please read the instructions in that link I sent you very carefully.

The NVC seems to be getting slower and slower. The only thing I can say is that we need to be patient and make sure all our documents are submitted according to their standards.

It took me almost two months from NOA2 to get the AOS fee bill sent to me.

Hello everyone ...

I am a USC and petitioning for my parent. I just received the approval letter from the USCIS dated on 8/29. I called NVC today and was told to call back on 9/20. I understand that I need to get my case number before I can take the next step.

However I get a little bit confused about the DS-3032 form email and the OPTIN email.

Should I send the two emails separately or just the OPTIN email with an attachment of DS-3032 form?

Ryan H mentioned about the latter and the email address is NVCElectronic@state.gov.

But the email address to send the DS-3032 (in the email template version) is NVCINQUIRY@state.go.

I am wondering why the addresses are different.Can anyone please explain to me?

If I choose to use the template for DS-3032,which email should I send first, the DS-3032 OR OPTIN?

You should send the emails separately for each parent with the DS-3032 as an attachment to NVCElectronic@state.gov. Don't send it until you receive the AOS fee bill. Here is the Electronic processing overview.

Is it true then that its taking roughly 5 months for the petition to get approved before the application is moved to NVC for processing and that it takes another 6 months for the interview dates?

I am almost ready to send out the package. Am I sending it to the Chicago address? Please let me know.

Make sure that YOUR birth certificate has both your parent's name on it and it's translated into English.

You DON'T need the following items with the initial I-130 submission, although you will need most of them later

You don't need your parent's marriage certifcate for your mother's application, only for your father's.

My in-laws received this email for their cases today. From the VJ Wiki electronic processing page, we were expecting all docs to be sent to NVCGuangzhou@state.gov. This e-mail tells us that all correspondence goes to NVCElectronic@state.gov.

Is this something new or has the VJ site just not updated?

Hi guys, am trying to fill out this I -864 for my Mom's IR5 visa application. Anyway, since I got here my husband and I had always filed taxes jointly. And since last year, i really didn't work but for just a couple of months. That means he too has to fill out the I-864A, right? And also for our household income, are we both going to put the combined amount? Is 87K enough? It is me, him, his son, and hopefully my Mom.

$87K is plenty. You fill out I-864 and hubby fills out I-864A. You put the combined income.
