Hello,
Please forgive me for my english.
Long story short, I have my N400 interview coming up next week and I am worried that I made a mistake.
In November 2014 I applied for i-751 removal of conditions through divorce. I got approved with out an Interview and I received 10yrs green card in April 2015. In July 2014, I was charged with petty theft case(Misdemeanor) and I was going through court process till June 2015. When I applied for i-751 in Nov 2014, I am not sure if I have answered yes or no for the question ("Have you been arrested, detained...") and I dont remember that I have sent the court documents). Honestly that time I didnt even know good english or vocabulary.
Now in my N400 form I have mentioned yes to all the question for ("Have you been arrested or detained,...") and I have all the court forms which I am taking to the interview.
My question is what happens if I go the N400 interview and ask me about my old case? I am not sure if I have mentioned yes or no! What should I do? please help me... will I get deported because I lied to them? I didnt save the form i-751 when I sent to USCIS in 2014.
Non-violent misdemeanors don’t make you deportable, otherwise everyone with a traffic ticket would be out of the door in a snap. If you feel scared or insecure about going in by yourself, hire an immigration attorney and bring them to your interview. At the interview itself, be honest and upfront about what happened when they ask you to confirm the answers on your N-400 (such as the arrest and the like), that will show that you have made amends and have a good character right now.

Thank you. Good information.
I will play by the rules of the game but i think that reporting minor traffic violations is silly. Plus they do a thorough background check and would anything recorded by a city, state agency,
It does seem silly but I guess they test your honesty that way. Technically, if you lie to the federal government, it’s a felony.

Yes, you have to mention traffic tickets. Provide details in Q29 (date-place-resolution)

Call the court clerk’s office and ask if the judge signed the order. If the clerk says that they did, ask how you can get a hard copy. If you need it ASAP, you can just drive to the courthouse and pick it up.

Congratulations!!!!
im totoally jealous that you got scheduled so quick!! My interview was the 19h June and I don’t see me getting a ceremony until next year 🙁
Unless the outcome of your interview was ‘failed tests’ or ‘ineligible,’ the USCIS should make a decision and schedule your naturalization within 120 days of your interview. If they don’t, schedule an infopass or see an immigration attorney re filing a mandamus application.

Can we do a Walk-in Biometrics as Houston ASC with a printed receipt? Does anyone have experience?
Thanks
Nat
I walked in with a printed receipt and had no problems. The security officer asked me for a reason I was doing a walk-in though.

If you have to leave because of a genuine emergency and need citizenship before you leave, you may apply for an expedited processing at your local field office. If you aren’t in Houston or Dallas, you may actually get it before you take off.

yes i recently lost my passport and everything about me has been legal so far. I don't have a passport - i lost it and i applied for a new one. It just takes long time to get one. so i have no chance to bring an expired passport. in this case, would i have any problem?
thank you again.
If that is the case, you should be fine. Just bring a copy of the police report if you have one.

Thank you for all responses.
I have an original birth ceritifate and also translation. So right now, am i good with no passport?
Can i just use my birth ceritifcate to proove my citizenship to argentina?
You should’ve had a passport when you entered the US, otherwise you wouldn’t be let in. Your birth certificate is a sufficient proof of your Argentine citizenship if Argentina follows ius soli. But passport may still be necessary at the interview. Bring the expired one you entered with.

Hello All,
I wonder if you know about anybody who paper filed in Houston FO after Oct 17, 2017 with an IOE receipt number and already received an actual Interview Request notification.
Thanks.I’m a paper filer with an IOE and I got an approved expedite request. No news still.

Where did he lie to the gov?
Since the legality of the status only came up during the interview, the OP probably didn’t mention that his spouse wasn’t here legally on the N-400.

If you "move address" to a PO Box in a quieter state, such as Idaho, will your paperwork get transferred too and therefore get processed quicker? Has anyone ever heard of someone trying this?
It won’t work and lying to the federal government is a felony 😁

I don’t know how the timeline works. If someone could please add my stuff, that’d be great:
GC Date: 02/15/13
Sent: 11/19/17
Cashed: 11/20
NOA: 11/21
Fprints: 11/30
In Line: 12/1 (as per USCIS)
IOE, Dallas Lockbox
No news since then.

HOUSton fillers, what time are you expecting to be done with the process?
Never? I’m planning on waiting until my 6-month filing anniversary and then applying for a mandamus in the Southern District Court. It’s good to be an attorney sometimes.

Literally everyone gets that discrepancy. The new site is accurate. ELIS changes to ‘will mail’ after your biometrics.

The majority of the 100 questions are basic common knowledge about this country. I mean, not everyone knows who their US Rep is, but, if you don’t know what basic First Amendment rights are and who the first President was, you should probably reconsider whether you want to be here.
Just reassure your spouse, she probably knows all the answers already. Good luck!

So long as it wasn’t for a felony or a theft/misdemeanor assault/battery, you may be in the clear. I’d speak with an immigration attorney, however.

How can I see my Oath Letter online?

If you applied after, I believe, October 2017, when USCIS started converting all paper applications into electronic ones, you’ll have to wait for a physical letter in the mail. Otherwise, it will show up in the Documents tab on the MyUSCIS portal a day or two after your oath is scheduled.
I applied on paper in November 2017 and got my oath letter uploaded to the portal after my application was approved. USCIS just scanned my application and converted it into an electronic one, with an IOE number and such.
