start calling  the NVC if you have not started already if you have, call them more often. Once you get the number you can proceed with the other part of the nvc
do not wait for case number, start getting everything ready to send into the nvc

That's the reason i hate calling USCIS, every time I call all they can tell me is that it is pending within normal processing times and reiterate what date the SC is currently processing. (which is whats exactly on the web page, i can look that up myself). They are useless! I think its ridiculous that we have no control over the processing of these documents. They definitely need to develop a better system especially for such a costly process. I for one would prefer being told its currently being reviewed, it has been assigned to an officer, its sitting on a desk somewhere i dont know honestly anything at least except PENDING. It is way to vague. I don't think they realize how hard and worry some it is to be on the other side. Try to block away negative comments focus on the positive and that everything will turn out alright. You will have an approval in no time you'll see. I will suggest something that has worked for many people and I in fact tried it myself and received an extremely rapid DETAILED response. Reach out to your local congressman and have them check on the status of the petition for you. USCIS responds to them much quicker and will actually "look into" your specific case in depth vs. the generalized broad response you get when calling the customer service number line. I think at least then you'll have a better understanding of where your case really stands.
