  1. Good Afternoon Everyone,

I have received my Green Card today. It has 10 years validity. I believe the reason for this validity is getting Green Card after being married for more than 2 years.

@VG31 I can't remember all the questions but I am trying to list the ones I remember below. My interview was at 8am and we reached there around 7:45am. There was a queue but we managed to attend the interview on time. I would recommend everyone arriving at least 30 minutes before the scheduled time.

The interviewer was very friendly but professional. He knew exactly what he was doing even if he was joking in between questions. He asked questions randomly to me and my wife (switched back and forth).

    Questions:

    1. What is my full name and date of birth (same question to my wife)
    2. Where do we live.
    3. Where was my wife born (Question to my wife)
    4. How did we meet each other.
    5. Where was the wedding.
    6. How many people attended the wedding.
    7. How my wife got her green card. (Question to my wife)
    8. Saw picture of us together of the wedding and other occasions. Kept 10 pictures out of them for his record. (asked my wife to choose any 10 photos from the album)
    9. Kept copies of joint lease document and copy home ownership documents.
    10. Asked for the I-130 Approval Notice.
    11. Asked about my priority date and if it is current. (After asking me he checked the priority date himself and told me it's current)
    12. Wanted to learn more about our wedding system (Muslim Wedding).
    13. Wanted to learn more about the city we live in.
    14. How we went to the interview.
    15. What hotel did we stay in. (Question to my wife)
    16. How I am at home (lazy/active) 😄. (Question to my wife)
    17. What are my wife's parent's full names. (Question to my wife)
    18. Where do I work.
    19. Asked about my monthly salary and my designation.
    20. When did I entered US last time.
    21. Where and what did study in the US.
    22. How long have we been married.

In between asking questions he was doing something in the computer and took notes on a paper of answers to some of the questions above.

Then he asked if we had any questions. I just asked if I was approved. He said everything looks good and I should receive the Green Card within 2 weeks or 1 month.

Note: I submitted the I-693 and I-864 along with my application 1 year ago. I did not re-do them and the interviewer also didn't ask for them.

I will update my post if I remember any other question that was asked.

Best wishes for all the future interviewee.

how do you find your Field Office or Service Center? I submit application at LA. The case status is still showing "Case is Ready to Be Scheduled for An Interview" and "National Benefits Center location is working on your case".

You can go to this link and put the zip code of your residence in the box to find the field office serving your area.

Hi, I'm very new here but needing all the help and advice I can get.

My husband OPT EAD is expiring in April, 2019. We filed i-130, i-485 and i-765 since October 2018.

We received the Notice Receipt for all but we have not yet gotten our Biometrics Appointment Notice yet.

    Our PD: 10/02/2018

    Notice Date: 10/08/2018

We called a few days ago to request for Biometrics Appointment Notice. Not really sure what to do here :( getting real anxious and feeling so stressed out.

Can he still stay in the US after his OPT expires? Can he still work after? Does the 180 extensions applies for OPT EAD?

Please let me know and thank you so much!

Really appreciate all the advice I can get.

He can definitely stay since you've already filed i-485 but he can't work until he receives the new EAD. 180 days expansion only applies when you apply for extension of the EAD from same category. Sometimes taking unpaid leave works for some companies to keep the job.

    Good evening,

June 2018 filer here from ATL....

About 2 weeks ago USCIS has updated our online status to for my husband's AOS. They scheduled the interview and the email mentioned that a mail with the interview has been sent. However, so far, our lawyer has received the notice but not us and we are not sure why.

Our interview is set to April 16th in Atlanta field office.

Has anyone else been through this, where their lawyer has received the marriage interview notice but not you?

Are you spouse of US citizen?

But, if my STEM-OPT EAD is nullified, I can't be working on an expired OPT card.

If your STEM-OPT EAD is nullified, you can still probably work if you don't notify them until you get the GC EAD since you will be in the 180 days grace period. But it would not be a very good and easy way. So to be on the safe side, you can apply for GC later when you receive your STEM-OPT EAD.

My current OPT expires on May 1 and I have applied for a STEM-OPT extension. I could not apply until March 2nd week, so I will be working in the 180 day grace period after my current EAD expires. I am marrying a US citizen next week and plan to start my AOS and GC application process right away.

    1. Would I still receive my STEM-OPT extension EAD card?

    2. What is the best advice to continue work? Is it advisable to go ahead with the GC application or apply after receiving the new STEM-OPT extension EAD?

    1. You will most likely receive STEM-OPT EAD earlier.

    2. You should continue working with your current status or STEM-OPT EAD (when you get it). But when you get your new EAD based on the GC application, it is highly recommended to abandon the STEM-OPT EAD and notify your school of your change of status, also continue your work using the new GC EAD

It is better to apply for GC as early as possible. If the two applications simultaneously conflict with each other, USCIS will provide you only the GC EAD instead of the STEM-OPT EAD. But most likely you will receive the STEM-OPT EAD earlier since you've already applied for it. So either way you will receive at least one EAD which should serve the purpose to continue your work.

My PD for i130 is Jan 12, 2017. I am not sure if they are giving interview dates based on the visa bulletin. Based on USCIS, the interview date on local office is based on the receipt date for AOS. Let's see what happens. The local field office for me is far behind from the receipt date that I have. Let's see what happens.

  9. @Lisa88
In my case, I recently received EAD on my pending AOS. The day I received it, I updated my employer first and then sent an email to my school about it. I told them that I will no longer use the STEM OPT EAD and since I applied for AOS, my status will be pending AOS. I asked them to update my SAVIS record accordingly. They responded back requesting a scanned copy of the new EAD and that's it. I didn't have to do any final evaluation of I-983, they didn't ask for it.

A friend of mine also did AOS from F1 and received Green Card. He told me that he didn't even notify anything to school. So it seems that it doesn't really matter but I personally feel that one should at least notify school about the change of status to be in the safe side.

Also, I think it's necessary to be careful using these documents wisely. By that I mean, one should use the latest document constantly in everywhere and not use the previous ones anymore. Using 2 different documents for example OPT EAD and GC EAD at the same time can (probably will) get you into trouble. Since you received GC, I would recommend you to use only this in every aspect and not use the EAD's.

    Hope that helps.
