Thank you very much for the information. He already applied the passport extension and is still waiting for the passport extension to be printed out.  It seems taking forever. Do you know how long will it take to get the police certificate in Venezuela? My fiance lives in Acarigua, Portuguesa. It is eight hours away by bus to Caracas. He has to take the medical exam in Caracas as well. Our visa approval is valid until October 20th. Consider the current situation in Venezuela, I am afraid that we do not have enough time to prepare those documents for the interview :(.

    Hello! Venezuelan here too...

The police certificate can be obtained online at the following link: http://www.mpprij.gob.ve/ he will have to register and make the request (I advice to try early in the morning because they have a daily request limit), it takes aprox 1-2 weeks to get the email saying it's ready to download from the website. Once downloaded you can print it in a regular paper, it has a bar code to prove authenticity so don't worry.

I found this link too about document reciprocity with Venezuelan government, it talks about how each documents looks like and a brief description of it and where to ask them: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country/Venezuela.html

Our NOA1 is feb 26 and my passport is close to expire too, I have to ask for the extension next October (timing was really bad as it will delay our case a little), that last link says that the extension is completely legal and valid to the US government : " Comments: Starting November 1, 2017, SAIME allows for two year validity extensions of expired passports. Applicants can apply for a “prórroga” online at SAIME’s webpage."

Let me know if I can help in anything else, there are not much Venezuelans asking for k1s, it's nice to help each others.

    Best of lucks!

I appreciate all of the help I've been getting on this site. How long can my fiance wait to schedule the interview after our I-129F is approved? Does it expire?

The reason I asked is because she's on an ofw contract until next year. She doesn't want to interview in the current country she is in. So if I file now, and she gets approved in the next 4 months, she won't be able to schedule the interview until she gets home. Meanwhile I'm planning to start another job after sending my I-129f application. So can my fiance wait for a few months before scheduling the interview?

Consider that NVC will transfer your case to the embassy you listed on your petition, if you need to change it, you'll have to ask for a transfer to the new embassy and this could delay even more the process (depending on how the two embassies communicate) just something to consider!

Here we are at the start of a fresh new month, sorry if someone already started a thread for March, but I haven't seen one yet!!!

I'm headed to the post office with my I-129f directly after work today. Feeling a mix of nervousness and excitement. I've read through the whole package probably 100 times now, emailed it to my fiance to make him do it too . I've been reading as much on this site as possible to try and get it right the first time, but I am feeling a bit optimistic reading lots of posts about times getting a bit better.

Good luck to everyone who joins me as a March filer this month! I'll be back to update when I get a delivery confirmation! Now we wait!

Hi! good luck! my fiance sent our file last saturday feb 24th, yesterday they cashed the check so I think we should get news soon ( NOA1)!... but I'm not sure if I am a february or march filer... lol

  4. Support is the same for all visas.

K1 only applies if you are planning to get married at the US.

CR1 only applies if you are already married or got married before filling the application.

Everyone is waiting the sames times, it's a long process no matter which option you choose, you can save some money and opting for CR1 but it takes longer than K1.

No, you shouldn't lie to the USCIS because they'll find out and you'll get the visa denied and nobody wants that after being waiting for almost a year and all the money you have to pay in fees.

  5. Let me see If I got it right...

We can submit the i129F with my current password number from Venezuela. And then from NOA 2 and before the Ds160 I can get the renewal or the new mexican passport to bring it to the interview right?

The NOA2 4 months expiration date is a relief. I guess I can have a plan b after all...

    Thanks!

  6. Hey guys, it's me again, everyday I have a new doubt regarding this process...

We are filling the I129F on January 1st week.

I'm venezuelan living in Mexico and my venezuelan passport (the only one I had) expires in March 19, 2019, so my passport will be valid for travel until October 18, 2018.

K1 visa process takes up to 6-7-8-..... months.

What if I can't have my interview before October 2018?

Here's the issue: It's almost impossible to renew a passport for venezuelan citizens, BUT after living in Mexico for 2 years (that would be same October 2018) I can ask for the mexican citizenship and get a passport from Mexico. And it would take a few months (maybe just 1 is not a huge process).

Could I change my passport information before the interview? For how long the USCIS approval of case is valid to schedule the interview date?

I know I'm really ahead of this step but I need peace of mind and a plan ready to execute in case my application takes longer than expected.

    Thanks!

While I get what you are saying, I'm doubtful the IO would look closely enough at the photos to consider a weight gain/loss or haircut. It's possible, but I do think that's a bit of a longshot given that they will likely only have their eyes on your entire file for minutes before deciding to issue an RFE or approve/deny it.

Whatever you do have, send that. It is what it is. But yes, the passport stamps are the main items showing that he was actually there. The credit card expenses should backup that he was physically there as well. As for anything else, I would check if there are hotel invoices, event tickets, travel itineraries, etc. You would probably be fine as-is, but I'm just trying to provide examples of other items to strengthen fulfilling this requirement.

Another visit is a big help. Just save whatever you can that shows you two in the same location and includes a date. Good luck! :)

    Thank you!

The letters should be signed (wet signature for the petitioner, wet or scanned & printed version for the beneficiary is fine).

Note that almost all these items are not proof of meeting within the past 2 years. They are relationship evidence, which is known as "front loading" the application. USCIS doesn't review the relationship at the I-129F, but it can help the CO form an opinion before the embassy interview later.

Photos, even if labeled, are secondary evidence as verifying the date/time or location can be quite difficult. They can work to corroborate other evidence of meeting, though. Texts, call logs, emails, sending of gifts/packages, etc. don't show that you met within the past 2 years either. The same goes for a letter on how you met.

The plane tickets are ok, but I would highly suggest sending the boarding passes instead. Tickets show it was purchased, but boarding passes better show that you were actually on the plane. The passport stamps from your evidence of being a USC will corroborate this. The credit card statements showing that you were in x country helps as well (assuming she either lives there or you provide evidence that she was there on the same dates). If you have things like hotel invoices/receipts, travel itineraries, etc. that can help as well.

    That's fine....no issue here.

Thanks! I get what you are saying, in fact I can add my passport stamps that match my time in Mexico and his visits, also you can see through pictures that I've change my haircut and hair color (I had even loose weight) so I think that can be taken as a sign that we have met in different occasions. We don't have all the boarding passes (maybe just one) but his passport shows the dates that match with pictures and credit card expenses here in Mexico... Do you think this is ok? How other way can we prove that we met 3 times during this year?

Oh! He might be coming in a month or so and he's taking with him the file I'm preparing to complete his part and to wet sign everything that needs to be signed... Any recommendation on what evidence can we add during this visit?

  9. Hi guys, I think we are ready to submit our application but I want to make sure we are not forgetting anything (Our plan is to submit it first week of January).

So, to start, neither of us has been married before, or has criminal records, or children, or name changes so I guess that makes things easier.

What we have at the moment:

    - The I-129 F (we still have to fill some information but we are working on it).

    - The G-1145 form for e-notification.

    - 2x2 Photographs (1 for petitioner, 1 for beneficiary).

    - Proof of U.S. Citizen: We have copies of all the pages of his valid passport (He's US Citizen by birth is that ok?).

    - Original statements of intent to marry for both of us.

    - Proof that we met in person: We are including 30 pictures of us together with dates and places description, text and calls log from the past year, some emails we shared, Amazon.com gift cards mails (with a brief description), Fedex packages tracking information (he sent me a gift for my birthday), plane tickets, credit card balances (to show his expenses while we was visiting). And a letter about how we met (one with his story and one with mine).

I think that's pretty much it (filling fee is still pending).

We don't have an engagement ring yet and we don't plan to have an engagement party (I live alone in another country so we won't have one because my family is not here and I don't have a tourist visa to go to the US).

Are we missing something? I know if everything goes right after the NOA1 and NOA2 it comes the medical appointment and the interview, we already are making two copies of the application and I'll keep one for the interview (plus some other documents that I need to translate by then) but we will also need to submit the affidavit of support for the interview right?

Thanks to all of you for your help!

You do not need to send in the i-134 with the petition. The beneficiary ( you in this case) will bring it with you to the interview. Which will most likely be 6+ months at the current pace after you file. Its better to wait until you get closer to the interview to prepare for that, cause they want to know what his income will be at that time, not 6 months before the interview.

    I get it now, thanks!

The i-134 with supporting documents (tax returns, letter from employer, pay stubs etc that proves your spouse can support you) is needed for the interview at the embassy.

Once you enter the US with your K-1 visa you will get married and then file to adjust your status (AOS). The AOS application is yours, you are the applicant, your USC spouse isn't the one adjusting status (for obvious reasons). They will send you a letter with the biometrics appointment, they will take your photo and fingerprints.

There will be another affidavit of support for the AOS part, that form is called i-864 (your spouse has to prove he can support you, again, and this is binding unlike the i-134).

Thanks! this is really helpful, I was reading the i129F instructions and they make it look like the bio metrics appointment is part of the filling process so that makes me confused...

I'm planning to fill in January should we start to get all this i134 supporting documents now? My fiance is about to get a new job after being 5 years in the same one (this has a better payment and benefits) would it be a problem if I bring different documents from the original petition to the interview? (Like if he changes jobs after the filling).

The I-134 is sent in with the 129f petition proving you make 100% of poverty. The Biometrics is after the filing of AOS stage for finger printing and background checks again and it is for the BENEFICARY

    Hi!

Ok, so the I34 is the affidavit of support? so it's part of the first step of the process.

And the biometrics is after the Visa approval and once I as beneficiary am at the US?

  13. Hi guys, I have two doubts regarding some steps I can't locate on the timeline:

When and for who is the biometrics appoinment? I´m the beneficiary and my boyfriend is the petitioner. Is this appointment for me o for him and when it would be (at what point of the timeline).

I've notice a lot of you talk about affidavit of support, what is this document and where it has to be provided? at the I129F filling? I don't get it.

    Thanks for the information.

You're profile says the beneficiary (you) would be from Djibouti... I have never seen this country on the list of banned countries. Are you from somewhere else and just processing your case from Djibouti?

i, how can I find information about banned countries? I'm from Venezuela and our goverment has been banned but according to US statements, it would only affect the goverment, not regular citizens of Venezuela like myself. But still.... we all know how that go... we all get in the same label. :(

so you used the extension process? if so where did you do it?

I haven't because my passport expires in March 2019. I was looking an alternative option to the renewal so I was thinking about the mexican passport (that's how I found out that I need my passport valid if I want to go for the mexican citizenship, and if so I would need to do it before 2019, I also need to have 2 years of legal residency and would be in another year from now).

I know people trying to get the extension to the venezuelan passport from Mexico, they all are at the payment part of the process but I think none of them have it issued already.

The thing is, if he wants to go to the extension he needs to cancel the request for the new passport he already did... I would wait a little longer before evaluating this extension option. At least unless the process is fully working, give it a couple of months.

  16. 20 hours ago, user12 said:

Thanks, this was what I thought also but because of the current problems in Venezuela it is almost impossible for them to get new passports. and the us is certainly aware of that. I was hoping to give him better news.

His visa is valid until 2024.

Hello! Venezuelan here, a new passport from Panama would be issued only if he become a citizen of Panama, which requires a lot of paperwork (birth certificate and almost sure the home country passport has to be valid too, it depends of the country) also he needs to have x amount of years living at the country of the citizenship he wants to acquire under legal residency, some visas like student ones doesn't not grant the conditions to become a citizen.

So, it would be best for him to wait a little longer for the Venezuelan passport (I feel his pain)... At least here in Mexico the new system looks like just started to work... if he wants to go that way, he needs to cancel his original renewal request (for a new passport) and submit a new one for the 2 years time extension.

If his new passport arrives (hopefully soon) then he can use the current US visa, he just needs to show both passports and that's it.

  17. Hello to all!

My boyfriend (US) and I (venezuelan living in Mexico) decided to get married and we're taking December to get everything ready and then start the process next January 2018.

I've been reading a lot about this process and I'm a little nervous about it, my tourist visa have been denied 3 times... You guys say is not a problem for a K1 visa, but still...

I'll try to keep my process updated for you, wish me luck!
