  1. Quick question guys. Does anyone in this forum know if the US embassy in Dakar, Senegal, allows petitioners to attend their spouse's interview? I was told by NVC that I would have to check with the embassy as some embassies do not allow petitioners to attend the interview. I have sent a couple of emails to the Dakar embassy but they have not responded. So I thought I would ask the question here to see I could get some answers. Thanks!

Normally how long does it take to get an interview after cc?

Depends on the embassy. They provide NVC with slots and NVC fills in the slots on a first come first serve basis. Cases completed before you (for that embassy) would be considered first.

So it's hard to give an exact timeline. Some have waited less than a month and other have waited a couple of months or more.

    Hi,

I got my NAO2 approved at Feb 16 and now waiting for the updates from NVC. Someone please tell me the processing steps at NVC. I got confused by seeing  the SC and CC dates? What is scanning date and what is cc?

You are steps away from SD and CC. NVC will send you guys an email giving you a case number and an invoice number. You will then be asked to complete three steps before sending in documents to NVC. Follow the instruction on the cover letter they will send you. When they receive the requested documents, they will upload that in their system. The date they do that will be your scan date (SD). After they finish reviewing your documents and consider your file complete, that is when we they consider your case complete, hence a CC date. From CC, your file will then be placed inline for interview at the embassy.

    Case approved!!

    PD: 06/01/17

    NOA2: 01/02/18 (215 days)

    Center: Texas

No case status update online. Found out about it via letter in mail.

    Approval notice states:

"The above petition has been approved.  As the petitioner requests, we have sent the petition to the US Dep.... NVC, 32 Rochester Ave, Portsmouth, NH.... The NVCprocesses approved immigrant visa petitions that need consular action.  It also determines which consular post is the appropriate consulate to complete the visa processing.  The NVC will then forward the approved petition to that consulate.

The NVC will contact the beneficiary of this petition with further information about immigrant visa processing steps.

You should allow a minimum of 30 days for the US Department of State processing before contacting the NVC...."

Question: Does this mean the petition is now sent to NVC? Or is this standard reply? I am afraid Texas takes a long time to send petition to NVC. Does anyone know ways to expedite this process?

Sometimes USCIS don't send it right away. Mine was approved 12/14/17 and on 12/21/17 they updated my case status with the below message.

NVC confirmed receiving it on 12/28/17 after I called them.

Case Was Sent To The Department of State

On December 21, 2017, we sent your case, Receipt Number YSCxxxxxxxxx, to the Department of State for visa processing. You can find general information on Consular Processing by visiting our website at www.uscis.gov .
