  1. Hi, I had a question regarding listing out social media accounts on the DS-260. My wife has a youtube account that she logs into using her google email ID, and youtube seems to have automatically created a channel for her, although she has no subscribers, no uploaded videos, no playlists, only a few liked videos. Do we need to list this youtube account on the DS 260? If yes, can I use her email ID to specify her username or handle on youtube ?
  2. Hi All, My wife is filling out the DS-260 on behalf of her son (my stepson), who is a minor. We had a few questions - - Can my wife put her contact information for phone number and email address (my stepson has neither of his own) - While my stepson does not have knowledge of the name or other details of his biological father, my wife does, so can she put those details in the form as she is filling out the form on his behalf? - For the vaccination question, we put "No" and added a comment "I will get all my vaccinations in accordance with US law at my medical examination prior to the interview" - is that ok? - I assume we will need to put "yes" in answer to - "Did anyone assist you in filling out this application" and put my wife's details as the preparer, is that correct? Thanks!
  3. Ok So even for adults, if they only watch youtube videos with their google ID but do not upload any content or have a Youtube presence otherwise, we don't need to list that ID? (asking for my spouse)
  4. Hi, I am sponsoring my 10 year old stepchild, and he does not have any social media accounts, and he does not have an email ID either. He does however watch YouTube videos on his mother's YouTube account. In the DS - 260 list social media handles section, can I put "None", or put his mother's youtube account username ?
  5. Thank you ! Came up with a question regarding my wife's education. She had an year long break between the first and second years of her 2 year master's degree, is it ok if I create two separate entries for the first and second years to ensure accuracy of dates and account for the year gap between the two? Also during her bachelors degree she moved to a different college after her first year where she completed her 2nd and 3rd years. Again it seems appropriate for me to create separate entries for the two colleges that she attended, is this ok?
  6. My spouse is filling out her DS 260 (I am the USC). I am unemployed since late 2017 (went to live in India with wife which got extended due to Covid) and am currently looking for work. The "Spouse" section asks for my occupation, where my wife put "Not Employed". It is then asking for an Explanation. The field cannot be left blank, but it doesn't allow more than 70 or 75 characters. What exactly do I write here.. something like "Unemployed since xxx date, currently looking for employment", or something more explanatory?
  7. On the subject of delay, I (primary sponsor) am unemployed and we have been wondering if it makes sense to go with a Joint Sponsor (which I do have) or would it be better to wait until I have a job (which may take a few months yet), or alternately submit now with Joint Sponsor and send the updated affidavit at the interview if I have a job by then?
  8. Ok got it... regarding the AOS I was forced to upload an affidavit of support for joint sponsor when adding my mother as joint sponsor a couple of weeks ago, which is read only (cannot be deleted). Seems like my choice is to add an updated AOS as an attachment (along with the financial documents) and a note prior to submitting everything to NVC, and if that doesn't work give an updated AOS to my wife for the interview.
  9. Just had one more key question that we have been wondering about --- Is there any specific requirement for my spouse to submit the DS-260 (in other words make the visa application) within 1 year of her receiving the welcome letter, or can we delay submitting the form as long as we keep in touch with the NVC, pay fees etc.?
  10. Please ignore my last question, I understood your point. I'm good now thanks!
  11. Ok, so regardless of whether they are immigrating based on her petition as derivatives (which they are not) or that they have their own petitions (which they do), since they are immigrating at the same time as her, the answer would be YES ?
  12. Ok so regardless that my step children have their on separate petitions and are not derivative beneficiaries of my wife, I will need to put YES for the question "Is this child immigrating to the U.S. with you?" on my wife's DS260 when I list out her children ?
  13. Hi I am filling out the DS-260 for my spouse (I am at the NVC stage for my Spouse and two stepchildren, who each have their own approve I-130s). My two step children have their own I-130 petitions, and their own DS-260s. On my spouse's DS-260, On the questions: Is this child immigrating to the U.S. with you? Is this child immigrating to the U.S. at a later date to join you? Will I need to put "NO" on both when listing out my spouse's children (my step children) on her DS-260 as they are not derivatives and have their own petitions, or does either of them need to be YES ? Thanks!
  14. Got it... then I still have another 15 days or so. Maybe I get the new passports this week... let's see.
  15. Oh okay.. just one other thing... is the one year deadline from the date the welcome letter is received from NVC or from when USCIS approved the I-130? If its the latter we may have the new passports in hand before we cross the deadline... Plus this is an IR case if that makes any difference...
  16. Cancelled as in they stamped "cancelled" on a back page of the passport and punched holes in the cover. Biographic page is unaffected. Expiration date is sometime in 2027...
  17. Hmm ... ok, I guess it does, but I'm wondering will they terminate it the next day after the year is up? I have been uploading documents, paying fees, even staying in contact but I may overshoot the 1 yr deadline by a couple of weeks because my wife's passport is stuck in the reissue process for address change so my choice is to apply with a canceled passport or wait until we get her new passport...
  18. Hi , Just confirming. Are you actually sure that we need to submit the DS-260 within one year regardless of whether we contact the NVC or not ? I did not see any other information to that effect anywhere else online...
  19. Hi, I wanted to keep my case open at the NVC by satisfying the contact requirement: Can I just put a message in the ask NVC enquiry form that says “I need more time for our case. This is my record of annual NVC contact.”, will that be enough? Also, I read in another thread that the DS-260 needs to be submitted within 1 year of the welcome letter, is this an actual requirement ... That is do I need to submit the DS-260 before the year since I got my welcome letter is up? Thanks
